So happy we dropped in to eat at the Charlevoix. The cocktails are unique, well crafted and delicious. We were very happy with our selections! We ordered the Thai wings, which were some of the best wings we have had in a long time. We got the Thai style and our friends got the Japanese and we were all blown away by the flavors! We ordered the collard coconut salad because it sounded so different. We absolutely loved it! The quesadilla was delicious as well with lots of whole, tender shrimp inside. My friend and I ordered an old fashioned, made with the tequila instead of bourbon. It was great! After we got the the check, we went to the waitress and asked what made 2 drinks $45. I guess casamigos anejo is $22 a pour. With bitters it's a little extra. I'm okay paying a little extra for going off menu, but is this that top shelf? Just felt a little ripped off with this one. Their most expensive signature cocktail is $12.... I went down the street and ordered the same drink from o'flahertys for HALF the price. O bar even muddled some cherry and orange into it. read more

We stopped in here after having a another reservation canceled. It was a very pleasant surprise, the Brussels salad, and New York cheese po boy were both delicious. The peach dessert is definitely worth ordering, and my drink, the grapefruit and tequila one was very well-made. I've had a handful of menu items now, and all of them ranged from very good to absolutely spectacular. The Collards + Coconut Salad on my first visit was fantastic, and wow-ed me enough to be very excited about stopping in for round 2. Last night our order included the Charred Bok Choy Tips and Fried Buttermilk Tofu Mini - once again, pleasantly surprised with how flavorful each dish was. I'm in the middle between a 3 and a 4. The inside is gorgeous and the service was pretty good (we sat at the bar). My friend and I both liked our drinks. I had the burger which was tasty but I wasn't thrilled they would ONLY cook it medium??? My friend got the catfish sandwich and it didn't come with any sides at all. The only options for sides were 8-9 bucks a piece which seems steep for me considering you're paying 12-14 bucks for the sandwich. My other critique, and this is just my personal preference, is have some more simple options. Not everything needs kimchi or needs to be "creative". I'm a very simple eater. I don't know if I'll be back to eat but maybe for a cocktail. read more

Hubby and I came here with some friends for dinner on a Friday night. Parking was a bit tight but surprisingly we were able to get the last table inside. The menu is not huge but we easily found a few things we definitely wanted to order. We ordered the Japanese style chicken wings. No I'm not a huge chicken wing but I was absolutely blown away by them! They were perfectly cooked and the seasoning was incredible. My hubby ordered some sort of Italian beef sandwich. I did not try it but he absolutely loved it. I ordered the perch po'boy. The bread was crusty. A generous amount of perch, lettuce and a few pickles and tomatoes on it. At first I was sad that I could not finish it all but then realized I had enough leftover for breakfast in the morning. Yeah I will eat cold fish the next day, that's how I roll. The next morning, the bread was a tad soggy (as one would expect) but it was still one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. read more

The food was great, the restaurant was very clean, the service was good but the wait staff was very distant and not friendly they don't smile or interact with the customers they are there to get the job done. The Charlevoix - my experience here was not terrible but I can't deny that I was expecting a bit more since I paid the same amount as a fine dining restaurant the next day downtown Detroit. We got the crispy smashed potatoes, and they were not crispy and have an overabundance or dill in the sauce they were sitting on. The wedge salad was very good, but the dill reappeared, and I like dill but not too much of it. The chilaquiles were the best but the portion size was for a toddler and the salt and vinegar wings were crispy and fresh but took what felt like ages to come out and powdered seasoning on them left my mouth feeling quite stripped. I'll likely try them again, but with my guard up. read more

Or the brisket or sweet potato tacos. Oyster Po'boys. All were delicious. Pretty casual inside, so you feel immediately welcomed, and the staff has always been friendly. They have a list of specialty drinks, I've tried a few, all were good, but I particularly like the "Hey it's You" - give it a try. The clientele seems to be late 20's and 30's crowd, I'm happy they have a fun place to hang out in in GPP. Make GP cool again. :) Only knock is the noise level, super loud in there, probably because of the open ceiling concept. I came from out of town and tried Char Le Voix. I didn't have much time so I got it to go so it may be a bit different than going in to eat. The service was very good, they were fast and answered the phone. The ambiance was pretty. I would say over all I would give the food 7.5/10. I got the chicken taco which was ever good but had less meat and more toppings. I think the chicken was very tend and good that's why I wish they put more of it on. I'm not sure what sauce they used but it was spicyyyy. I got the chicken mini as well...I ate it within 5 mins of getting it and the bun was already soggy because of the sauce and pickles. I think less pickles and that super spicy sauce and more jam and it would be good. Once again the chicken was very good which was the star but over powered by being drenched in pickles and sauce. read more

I asked if the delightful cucumber concoction I had could come in pitchers ... ended up having a great chat with the bartender there about M43 beer, showing they're super knowledgeable about crafts. Food: get the wings. All of them. We really loved the salt and vinegar ones. Also had something with duck (in the slider family) that I think was a special. We live down the street so both come in and order to-go regularly. None of their food has disappointed thus far and we've tried many of their offerings at this point. The price points are reasonable and it's a place we feel great about bringing out-of-town guests because we know whatever they order will be delicious. One thing of note: the food skews salty and spicy. But for me that's a bonus. I'm really hoping they bring back sliders to the regular menu! read more

Had our first experience with the Charlevoix last night. Ordered dinner and cocktails. Salt and vinegar wings, Wedge salad, Perch po boy, Mushroom and Swiss chard melt sandwich, Poutine. The Hot hot heat bottle of cocktails. In our 6 years of living in Detroit (Eastside, Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood), after moving here from Chicago, this was one of our best meals ever. Bright flavors on point, fresh, quality ingredients, attention paid to doneness/ textures, simple, tidy presentation, and friendly, efficient, thoughtful service. Our cocktails came with a container of lime wedges and a container of a fabulous smoky spicy salt with which to rim our glasses. 10/10 will order again. I really have enjoyed the food I've had here. I was always under the impression that they used good quality meats ect. Then I seen that they serve SPAM. I was so surprised.
