Stoped in to grab a treat for the family on valentines day. They seemed to be sold out of a lot of their single serve but understand for the holiday. We got a slice of the brownie cheesecake and the plain with strawberry topping. The brownie cheesecake was not great. The brownie part was hard and dried out. Would not get again. I came in for some coffee because FarBella was closed, and I'm glad I did. Jimmy took his time to explain some of the coffee varieties and process to me and was very knowledgeable. As much as I love sweets, cheesecake is not my favorite. My husband is the cheesecake fiend in our family, and he deserved a little treat today so I stopped by to find him a good one. This little shoppe deals specifically and mostly with cheesecake. They have several varieties ranging from plain to fruit to Oreo. They also have cheesecake cupcakes which looked delicious. There are a few non-cheesecake options including cookies and also coffee. I found a fudge brownie cheesecake slice for my husband that I was also seriously considering getting myself too. Which I should have lol. We ended up sharing it, and it was moist and not too sweet, and not too cheesecake-y. I thought it was perfect. My husband loved it and definitely plans on going back after I described the other flavors they had. They have individual slices for sale and prices are reasonable. I spent some time talking with the owners who were pleasant and kind. There was a couple of elderly sisters before me who were on their first outing since pandemic started! Their first trip was here for their cheesecakes that they missed over pandemic, and they brought a cooler in the car to keep the cheesecakes cold on their way home. The owners helped them out to their car and got them on their way. Definitely an under-rated small business bakery that deserves five stars. This is and was the place to always get our cheesecake since I was a teen. It's one I remember fondly only because it reminds me of my younger days. This is where I was first introduced to raspberry cheesecake. It was creamy, rich, just the right amount of sweetness. I still will pick up a cake here and there for my family. I love their New York style cheesecake - it's a thicker more dense cheesecake. The Cheesecake Shoppe has a ton of flavors from plain with fillings to chocolates to fruits and seasonal flavors. My favorite is the fudge swirl, which is a plain cheesecake with chocolate swirled in it. They also have delicious seasonal cheesecakes at the holidays, like caramel apple and pumpkin. My absolute favorite item though is a fudge brownie bar. These little pieces of heaven are three layers: brownie on the bottom, cheesecake in the middle, chocolate ganache layer on top. So delicious. They have a few other flavors of bars but that is by far my favorite. I also like to grab a few fresh baked cookies when I stop in. I highly recommend this bakery! But take note: holidays can be really busy and flavors can run out - be sure to call in a special order if you want something specific. read more

CONS: Good taste but I've eaten better. The cheesecake recipe here is heavy and dense. I prefer a lighter, creamier style cheesecake. The whipped cream hardens up quickly. The edges of the cake can be dry. Some of the cakes in the display case are older than others so choose wisely. BOTTOM LINE: Actual review 3.5 stars. Not quite a 4. Good for the occasional splurge. The store is open Tuesday thru Saturday, but when I arrived there last Tuesday to pickup a cheesecake the store was closed. I could see peoplr in the backroom so I knocked on the door. The lady that answered said they were not open because they did not have any cheesecakes. We drove a pretty good distance to purchase two cheesecakes for my mother's birthday. I ordered a small plain and a small fudge brownie. I must be missing something because these cakes did not live up to they hype in my opinion. The plain cheesecake wasn't good. The texture seemed off, it didn't taste fresh, and it was difficult to cut even after letting it sit out and running a knife under water. I called the "shoppe" the next day and the woman who answered the phone was nice and apologetic as she explained what could've gone wrong in preparation (overcooked). She stated that I could get store credit or bring the cheesecakes back for a refund. I should've gotten her name because I want to give her credit for great customer service. She took my name and number and asked when I would be coming in. I thought I was set when someone called me back. The caller identified himself as being from "The Cheesecake Shoppe" and stated that he "heard [I] had a problem with the cheesecakes." Um, what kind of way is that to start a conversation? I started to explain to him the same things that I said the first time I called but he cut me off and said "oh no, they were fresh." He went on to say that he remembered me because I "called back and asked for directions." I corrected him. I never called to ask for directions. I called back to change my order, so, no sir, you do not remember me. He gave me somewhat of a hard time and said "if it's not what you like, it's not what you like." He too offered store credit or a refund, reluctantly. I asked with whom I was speaking and the caller replied "Marvin" with the most irritated tone he could muster. Oh, no, I'm the one who is irritated. The prices are reasonable, I suppose, but the very idea that the birthday honoree didn't like the cake, I (the paying customer) wasn't satisfied and "Marvin" gave me such a hard time, I opted to "return the cakes." It seems odd to return a bakery product, but it just didn't cut it...literally. I'm not trying to scam the anyone, but fair is fair. If I pay my hard earned money for a product, I expect a quality product. We tried to get there after work. We arrived just a few minutes after 6 PM, which is closing time. Understandably, they didn't let us in. Yes, we were bold enough to knock on the door/window with the cheesecakes in hand. We could see them at the display case tending to the same cheesecakes that were there the day before. It was technically after-hours so no one was obligated reopen. I didn't go back (again) to get my refund because I wasn't about to burn out more gas. It's not as though this place is right around the corner. I didn't bother to call back and request store credit because I figured that it wasn't worth it if I didn't like it the first time. Even if I happened to be in the area, I wouldn't stop in. It just wasn't wroth it. I returned home, short $26, with the same old (literally) cheesecakes. I opened the plain cheesecake to find that the color was more 'yellow' than the day before and the smell clearly indicated that it was going bad. I tossed it in the can. The fudge brownie still had a chance, I think, so I gave it away. I can't personally speak for that, but I heard that it was "okay." For the miles I drove and the expectations that I have, "okay" is not "okay" with me. read more

I've been here twice in the last couple weeks. I have never come here before but knew it existed for years. I was hesitant of a specialty cheesecake place in saint Clair shores. I haven't liked any of the other specialty stores in the area in the past. I assumed I would have the same experience here. Man was I pleasantly surprised by the experience. First off, the shop is modern and sharp. The aesthetic is big city high street, clean and bright. Their products are displayed neatly and cases clean. Staff have smiles on their faces and a genuine interest to ensure you have an enjoyable experience. I ordered a couple cheesecakes, the prices were fair and the flavor was better then expected. Their coffee is AMAZING. My wife and I are planning to frequent at least once a week for an early morning date on Saturdays to get our fix. Honestly the best cup of Joe, coming from a person who is always underwhelmed by all restaurant coffee. Hands down the best we have ever had! I'm addition, the cake pops, I have never liked cake pops. I had a bite of my son's, I will be having more, many more. This place is the whole package, presentation, service, quality, smiles and good conversation. The only disappointment I have is that I didn't go sooner. The owner obviously has a passion for his business and is absolutely customer focused. You will not be disappointed with your experience at the Cheesecake Shoppe. I happened to be getting an oil change and had some time to kill, so I went for a walk in that little area by 9 Mile and Mack where I stumbled upon a little shop that sells one of my most favorite things - CHEESECAKE! So, I was checking out their cases and trying to not buy something when I made the fatal mistake! I asked the lady behind the counter, "How's your sugar-free cheesecake?" Her response, "It's very good, let me get you a sample." Any chance of me getting out of there without buying something went down in flames when I tried their sample. If their sugar-free cheesecake is that good, how good could the rest of the stuff be? So, I bought an 8-inch apple cheesecake for $13. When I got home, I was rushing my husband through dinner because I was dying to try this stuff. When we did - OMG - heaven! It was soooooo creamy and not too rich with a hint of apple pie flavor (but not overpowering) and little chunks of apples in the cream cheese filling and topped with a brown sugar and nut topping. I went yesterday and purchased a varity, 10 precut slices (raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, etc.) and one whole Chocolate Mocha. ahhh? How should phrase this? I found it to be, not just ordinary, it was something less than ordinary. Of the 10 varity slices, we couldnt find any that we thought of as a do again. And the Mocha? Is for sure a never do again. On the surface, the price(s) were ok, but after the fact, i would now say its not worth it at half the price. I can pay more somewhere else, and I will. read more
