I'm from Massachusetts and growing up we had "Steak Bombs" aka Cheesesteaks. This weekend my Mom was in town and she was craving cheesesteaks and I pulled out my handy dandy cellphone and found this joint on Yelp. They allow dine in with 6 feet regulations and there's a few outdoor tables as well. All the sauces, condiments and pickle dippers you'll have to ask for it. They restaurants follows strict guidelines and is a safe place to dine and and takeout as far as I can see. Now let's get to the food. Everything comes out piping hot which I love. My family all got The Works Philly cheesesteaks. It was scorching fresh, lodes with beef, lots of cheese and a really soft bread. I got the cheese whiz and my sister got the provolone. The provolone looks bomb with the am cheese pull! It was sexy. My cheesesteak could use just a pinch more of salt. The bread was kinda soggy but still held the sandwich together. The onion rings, French fries and garlic fries were all bomb. We are definitely coming again for the bomb cheesesteaks. read more

This place is the best. I have had cheese steaks in the past and they are the best around. Recently I had some friends over who never had a cheese steaks. I called ahead and asked if they could make about 9 sandwiches. Cut them in thirds and could they put sides of the sweet and hot peppers on the side to include pickles. No problem. All was ready and waiting for my pick up. The staff is great and they will do what it takes. I highly recommend cheese steak grill. You won't be disappointed. Ordered ahead via Chow Now yesterday. Went pretty smoothly except I didn't see a spot to choose which size sandwich I wanted and ended up with it defaulting to small. I've been looking for my go-to cheesesteak shop is SD county and found it in The Cheesesteak Grill! The cheesesteaks are delicious! I've tried several other shops, including some 'best of SD' , and the Cheesesteak Grill wins hands down. My go-to is the mushroom cheesesteak. I usually order a large, so I can save half for later! Really delicious! I had the classic cheesesteak and it was excellent. Wonderful flavor, great grilled onions on the sandwich (if you want). The cuts of meat were the best part--really tender quality cheesesteak. The restaurant was very clean inside, and they were really friendly. We are down this way a lot for soccer tournaments, and this will definitely be one of my post game stops (and it's next to Starbucks, so it's got everything we need for the drive home). read more

Went there to check it out and ended up getting a Patty Melt. Best Damn Patty Melt Ever...? Well...right up there, for sure. Patty was delicious and moist, the marbled rye not greasy. Perfectly caramelized onions and melty cheese. Also ordered onion rings, which were not as heavenly. Had a slightly "off", bitter flavor and didn't care for the beer batter on them (which may have been causing the off flavor). But, the patty melt...was everything. The quality of the food is decent and the inside of the restaurant is clean. However, a small sub is upwards of $15. Based on other photos of the menu online, it looks like they recently raised their prices pretty substantially. My philly steak was just okay. I asked for cheese whiz and they gave me white american. Solid place! Stopped in for lunch on our way back to Long Beach and was really impressed by the sandwiches. My buddy and I both ordered cheese steaks with onions and both came out hot, fast and fresh. It had a ton of flavor and reminded me of Philly. We've delighted in this fine establishment for about a year now and can honestly say it never disappoints. Most of the time I show up hungry but never know what I want to eat because I want it all!! You can never go wrong with 'The Works', which is what I picked up tonight. A 12 inch fully loaded with a side of fries, sans the onions, is what's for dinner. When in doubt just load it up and don't skimp on the banana peppers and pickles that are off to the side, by the drinks. The fries are seasoned beautifully and suuuuper hot!! This place used to be fantastic, now it is sub par at best. I got a chicken philly and cheese fries. The chicken used to be minced, seasoned, and cooked with cheese. Today the chicken was in huge chunks, no seasoning (manager said, "we don't season our meats at all"), fries were undercooked and the young lady in there was clueless and fearful of her boss and was making mistake after mistake, including putting two scoops of cheese on a small fry. Writing this review because of the warm greeting when we first walk in, and the chef's smile just make us feel he enjoyed his work also happy to see us. Trust me, you could tell those are not fake smiles, and every little things they do make me feel they care about what they do. This place serves up a good cheesesteak. I'm no east coast expert on cheesesteak but for a wet behind the ear westcoastie I'm sold on what their grilling up. It's a small shop that seems to have a good local following. The grill never cooled off and the foot traffic was consistent for a Sunday night.
