I realize this place is most famous and highly rated for its bagels and such. I stumbled in around 1PM for lunch and ordered a roast beef and swiss on sourdough (sliced is the only option) with all of their usual trimmings which include lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and sprouts (yay!). I think it had both mayo and mustard, but could have used more mayo on the bottom of the big pile of veggies. It was all fresh and tasty and my only complaint is that it was about 85% veggies with just three slices of roast beef--probably about three ounces. I think a sandwich should contain a big majority of the named ingredients. This is really a veggie sandwich with a few slices of beef and a slice of cheese. Not a good value at $14.00, but at least it includes chips or potato salad. I do appreciate their good health department inspection scores.

10000/10 I want to come back here for breakfast and lunch every day I ordered the vegetarian - it's egg, cheese, onion, tomato, sprouts and avocado on your choice of bagel. I got Asiago cheese. SO GOOD. The service was quick and super friendly. I got half to go and they wrapped it up for me and put it in a bag. That's service! The inside isn't anything special, I like sitting outside but it's a small local place. If you want a bomb bagel come here!!

Great fresh bagels. The staff are on top of your every request. Quite little shop on the Main Street. The egg , pastrami and cheese bagel is a meal on its own. I had on a jalapeño bagel. The wife had an open face Nova lox. The amount of lox is crazy. Any other bagel shop would charge extra for what this place put on hers. Nice friendly atmosphere. The selection of coffee is outstanding.

This is the 3rd time I've visited and each time I am equally disappointed. Food: the bagels are bland and doughy. Absolutely zero taste or personality. They just feel like a fat slice of wonder bread. The sandwiches are fine but nothing to write home about. Coffee is a gavina pimp that tastes burned and bitter. Service: the folks are busy and nice but the guy making food behind the counter puts nothing into his prep. Not sure how to put my finger in it but it takes the trust out of the equation for me. Parking is a nightmare behind the building and dicey in front. Overall I'd pass if possible. I'm done coming here. read more

We found this bagel shop in Oceanside and popped in for a quick breakfast. This place offers more than bagels, including bagel, breakfast sandwiches and other non-breakfast sandwich sandwiches. Of course I went in to try the salt bagel with the lox spread. We popped in on a Sunday morning just before 10 AM and it was not busy. The place is a tad small however they have indoor and outdoor seating. They offer a good variety of different bagel options as well as creamed cheese spreads. They also offer your standard coffee, juices, and they have a beverage refrigerator where you can grab a soda or energy drink. My daughter ordered a wheat bagel lox sandwich. Both of our bagels were a good size and had an amazing chewy texture which we both love. Personally, I think the lox spread could have been mixed a tad more, but that is only because I prefer the locks to be mixed into the cream cheese and have smaller pieces of it rather than large chunks. The staff was very friendly and attentive and patient while we decided what to order. Once you order, they will give you a number and we will deliver your food to your table. Overall, this is a great spot for a quick breakfast on the go. It is conveniently located around the corner from a four hour parking lot, which is walking distance to the Oceanside pier. Great location! We were so hungry we forgot to take photos - next time! Enjoy! read more

Have always driven past this place but finally decided to give it a try. The service was extremely fast and friendly, food was unbelievably fresh with high quality ingredients. You can tell this is a small "mom and pop" restaurant/ family owned and operated shop where everything is prepared with love and care. Also one of the best bagels I've had! Extremely soft and fluffy. . Delicous bagels, a large variety to choose from. Got a plain, egg, and jalapeño. Each was soft inside and crispy outside. The staff was welcoming and kind. Everything you want from a local bagel shop. Family vibes, personal and comfortable service, and an absolute DELICIOUS bagel sandwich? yes to all. I got the Lox on a plain bagel and the balance of everything was perfect. Not too much cream cheese, everything was assembled well so it stayed together, and I felt like I got a little bit of everything in every bite. Like any local food deli/shop, price of the bottled/canned drinks can be a bit high so bring your own if you want. Honestly, the price of the food is so reasonable, you're still getting a good deal! If you're in Oceanside/Carlsbad and are posed with the question: "Where should we go for food?" Check to see if 101 is open and head that way. Heads up, parking can be a bit of a pain. read more

I ordered a bagel toasted with avocado. It was great! There was plenty of avocado and the bagel was good. The service was great, friendly and prices were ok. When I told him the sandwich I wanted, he clearly said to me "what would you like with the sandwich" a question I was never asked before because it simply came with a small bag of chips or pasta salad, so I asked what did the sandwich come with, "it comes" the word that he used "it comes with", not "extra charge" and he mentioned French fries, bag of chips while he pointed where the chips were, pasta salad. I said, "I'll try the French fries". Not ONE TIME he said to me that none of the items he mentioned to me were extra charge, I even told him, "oh they come with all that you just told me"? He said yes. When I paid the total came to $24 dollars, the sandwich itself was $13.65 and a coke that I ordered was $3, how did it get to $24? Well, the French fries were extra cost. Had I chosen a bag of chips, the once he pointed at were also extra charge just like if I ordered pasta salad, I found out about the extra charge from the lady that brought me the sandwich and I asked why my bill was $24 dollars, SHE, not the owner told me about the extra charges. After I said to her, "why didn't or doesn't the owner tell you so instead of saying that these extras come with the sandwich" she looked at me and said "I don't know". She didn't even know however any of the prices of the sandwich they sell. These are the new employees now. I know you are going to think why I didn't ask right away why my bill was $24 dollars. I didn't even think about it immediately, I was hungry at this point, the place was quite busy and I wanted to find a place to sit, no excuse, but didn't think about it right away. Not until I set down and then started thinking about why my bill was higher. That was my fault. I should have immediately asked and actually I should have gone to the owner afterwards and mentioned to him that he should tell the customers correctly, meaning do NOT SAY "IT COMES WITH" that means IS NOT EXTRA CHARGE. He needs to say that wherever we want with it, there is an extra, then up to the customer if he/she wants it or not. The sandwich did not taste like the way it used to taste, meatballs still small but they were very salty, and the fries although I will say cooked pretty nice, crispy and all, a very small portion and also very salty. Overall and sadly for me because I truly liked this place a lot with the previous owner, it's not a place I would go back to. The prices are as high and now higher than any other place nowadays, nothing spectacular, their bakery department is now very limited, used to be huge and very nice selections, they used to have a pastry chef in the back that made the best deserts, and I don't know if they also changed cook, but nothing tastes the same. The place is always very busy, so I am sure I won't be missed, I won't waste my money here again. The new owners should by now know what they sell, know how to interact with customers better, know the job they took over. The owners before were absolutely wonderful and great to talk to, they would interact with you ask you if everything was ok, great service from the staff. I miss them and the new owners really need to step up, it's time. The place also very dirty on floors, tables, trash cans totally disgusting and filthy.

The store has a great selection overall and feels like the closest thing Oceanside has to a Whole Foods. I find myself stopping in at least once a week for meal prep ingredients, snacks, or something from the deli case. The reason I'm landing at 4 stars instead of 5 is mostly the location. There's almost always something interesting happening outside, and it's not uncommon to see police activity nearby. Also, if you order a fresh juice or hot drink, don't expect it to come out lightning fast. They definitely take their time. That said, those are pretty minor complaints. The quality of the food, produce, and prepared items keeps me coming back. All in all, it's a great neighborhood market with plenty of healthy options and some hidden gems if you're willing to explore a little.

From the moment I stepped into 101 Bagels and Subs, I knew I was in for a treat, and they absolutely delivered! This place is an experience tha leaves you planning your next visit before you've even finished your meal. I literally drive an hour to come to this place and walk to the beach 5min away to eat it. Beyond the incredible food, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff are genuinely friendly and efficient. I absolutely love this bagel shop!! The owners are very friendly, the service is always great, the food is delicious, and to top it all off they have free wifi. There are tons of choices, and if they don't have what you're looking for, they'll make it for you fresh.I first decided to stop in because it's very conveniently located right outside the gate of Camp Pendleton, now I eat breakfast here every weekend, and very often a couple of times during the week. I've never been disappointed. You really can't go wrong with their online ordering if you're in a hurry or want a bagel on your way to work or school.
