Greg and angel are amazing! I went here yesterday with my cousin and we are first timers here after reading all the amazing reviews. I can see why they are doing so well because not only was the food amazing (we got the Philly cheesesteak and if you had the privilege of Greg grilling it for you, you will not be disappointed) but the customer service far exceeded my expectations. It wasn't even a sit down place to eat but their service was beyond that of other five star restaurants. I am definitely coming back again and will be telling friends about this place. Place is ok but disappointed with the burgers. First, good burgers should be made to order at the customers taste. The burger I order was well done which can takes away from the flavor I like. The burger also did not taste fresh. Place needs to be picked up after customers leave. When I arrived, maybe five tables were empty but had food still on them. I had to move dirty food trays so I could sit at a table. Attention is lacking a bit. On the bright side, I enjoyed the fries. read more

Super yummy!! Got the works with American cheese, sweet and hot peppers w grilled onions. The meat was nice and moist, the cheese was melty and well incorporated. All of the veggies were dispersed evenly throughout the sandwich so you got some with each bite, which is key! I loved the bread, soft but still had a little crisp so it was still able to stand up to all the toppings. Didn't get soggy at all. Everything was made to order and piping hot. Stopped in on a recommendation. Cashier acted confused when we asked for the veggies on the side just to keep things un-confusing for her we asked for no veggies. Above the cashier was a neon Rolling rock sign. I asked for a rolling Rock, coors light and Ordered a cheesesteak. Apparently they don't carry Rolling Rock. Girl cashier didn't know what beers they carried. Then we were charged $28. Seemed a little high for a $13 cheesesteak and two domestic beers. When we questioned the amount the girl cashier was unphased, didn't offer a receipt or try to reconcile the amount charged. Bearded guy behind the counter got engaged asked what we ordered. Told him, he rung it up properly and returned $7 to us. Went to sit down and had to wipe down our own table top. There were a couple of customers eating but definitely not too busy to clean tables. The Cheesesteak Grill is hands-down the best cheesesteak that I have had in San Diego. I have lived out here for over 20 years (grew up in PA) and have tried a LOT of places that claim to be legit, but this one is about as close as I have found to the real deal. Most places either get the meat or the roll wrong (or both). Some places seem to have never actually seen a real cheesesteak (their menu photo shows tomatoes, lettuce, etc. on it???). If this place weren't so far from Escondido, I'd be in trouble. :) And they have good hoagies & other sandwiches, which made my wife happy. If you are looking for a good Cheesesteak, this is the place...Authentic Cheesesteaks made just like they are in Philly. The owner is all about authenticity... details are not overlooked and they are fast, so if you are in a pinch but want good food this is the place. In fact whenever I go there I always feel bad for the poor saps waiting in the McDonalds drive thru (which you pass on your way in to the Cheesesteak Grill) for wasting time and getting inferior food for about the same price. I've had many different subs, and have never been disappointed, however the cheesesteak is by far the sub of choice and what I have to recommend. My favorite is the standard steak and cheek 12 inch with extra meat and cheese, regular onions. If you order this the steak and cheese will be pouring out of the sub and you're likely to have 1/2 left over for later in the day, perfect for long hard work days. This place would get five stars except for consistency... never a bad sub but you will notice if you go there as much as me, consistency varies depending on who is making it. read more

I just moved to Oceanside from Philadelphia (lived their 10 years). I stopped in to see what they had going on and to see if I could just get a little taste of home. I loved the Philly stuff on the walls and the people were so nice. I wanted this place to be great. If the cheesesteak was even half decent I would've been ecstatic. I ordered my cheesesteak with whiz, how I got it every time in Philly. Sadly this was the worst cheesesteak I've ever had, but I have a feeling my bar is just too high.
