Tara is very good at what she does. I was very happy I'd found a good east bay hair dresser but had a terrible experience which I would never go to her again. I'd done my hair to Tara once and second time doing my hair with her would have been maybe a year later. Made an appointment w Tara for a Saturday. I want to say a month before my appointment I asked Tara if she by any chance had any earlier appointments to let me know. She said yes it would be tough to get me earlier on a weekend so I said if anything opens up sooner to let me know. One day before my appointment I text Tara conforming our appointment and she says I didn't have an appointment, she thought I canceled!!!! After going back to read my texts, Tara was very apologetic for misunderstanding. I really didn't care about her misunderstanding I had waited all this time for a hair appointment only to be left with nothing and a day to figure out what to do with my hair for a big event I had the following day. I asked Tara is she could accommodate me, but she said she couldn't that she had given my spot to a "loyal customer" and blocked me as if I was harassing her. Honestly the least she could was recommend or ask her colleagues if they had any openings . Just plain rude and defensive as if I'd made that mistake. Any other Honest business owner would have opened earlier or stay later to fix their mistake or offer some sort of compensation/discount for such a horrible messed up mistake, instead she literally responded like a prick stating I gave your spot to a "loyal customer". read more

Tara is literally a QUEEN at what she does!! I would never pay someone else to touch my hair other than Tara! She knows what she's doing and she knows what fits me! I've only been here twice (I can't always afford her), but every time, I get soooo many compliments! Anytime someone asks where they can get their hair done, I always HIGHLY suggest Tara!! She's such a sweetheart!! I remember one time I came in, and I was waiting for her to wrap up her appt. with the lady before me, and I wait probably an additional 15-20 mins., but honestly, it amazed me that she wanted her client's hair to be PERFECT, and she wouldn't let her leave until it was done correctly!! Tara has been cutting my hair for about 4-5 years now, and I wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else! Tara is great because she's super knowledgeable, and will make suggestions of things to try I had never felt brave enough to try before. But every time I end up loving how my hair turns out! The past couple of years I've experimented with color, and again I have been impressed with the results. From the more adventurous (purple lowlights) to the slightly boring (dark toner all over), my hair always ends up looking amazing. Went to Tara for the first time today for color as a preemptive to a Brazilian Blowout in a week...she is amazing! Not only is she a lovely person and knowledgeable, she really LOVES her work, and knew what I wanted (and needed!) before I even said a word. She was thoughtful and really took her time, paying great attention to detail and explaining what she she was doing every step of the way. My hair is alive again - the color and highlights are vibrant - I can't wait to see what she does when I visit her again for the BB. I have to honestly say I have been coming to Tara for almost 11 years and I have ALWAYs been treated like family with the upmost respect. it baffles me that some people think they are entitled if they run late into someone else appointment. If you are late or you no show or canx last minute they do not get paid and this is their career. I am sorry but i read the review from this Danah chicka and i am like UM are you for real. good luck finding a new hair stylists that is ok with you being an hour late LOL. She is very compassionate but you have to have a mutual respect and arriving almost an hour late when you say 10 minutes is a slap in teh face. Tara is the best, she is a sweetheart and beyond amazing at hair color and styling. She is tuly remarkable, stays on top of her game with the latest and greatest out there. I am incredibly picky when it comes to getting my haircut. Up until Tara I had never truly been content with any stylists. She not only does a great job, but she is hilarious and makes the time fly by. Even if you don't live in the area, which I don't (I drive 40 minutes!) she is so worth it! Not to mention she doesn't overcharge. I used to pay upwards of $80 for just a simple men's haircut! She does a way better job and for way less. Highly recommend her. read more

Excellent colorist! I needed a color correction and Tara was fantastic and I am very happy with my results!

To be fair she is really good with hair she has done a great work on mine on my first appointment. on my second appointment though it was a terrible experience, it's the way she treats her customers, my appointment was on 1:00 pm and on the morning I was having stomach cramps and I did want to cancel the appointment but since it's too hard to reschedule one within the same week and it's embarrassing to cancel since I already took someone else's place when I've already confirmed I decided to wait for the pain to pass. I gave her a heads up about my situation and that I'll be late. she said it's fine she can wait since it's only a hair glaze. To make you understand my deep frustration, I don't drive I use public transportation and I live far. so I took the BART and told her in the BART that I will be there in less than 20 mins. she said it was ok and that she scheduled the other client on 2:30 pm. I arrived at Pleasanton and requested a ride from lyft it takes few mins to match a driver and few mins for the driver to pick you up while I requested the ride 1:16 pm she sent me a message about canceling my appointment, I told her that "I'm already here it's only 4 mins ride, I'm in front of the studio door and my hair is a big mess forget about the hair glaze I just want at least a blow dry and I'm meeting with someone I need your help". she just ignored me her door was closed she left. neglecting the fact that I was on time in my first appointment and I was actually there before she showed up. she showed no compassion. we are human not robots not computers we do mistake sometimes we arrive late. it's not a business meeting it's not a surgery while the doctor is waiting for you and the other patient is waiting for his turn. there were more than 30 mins for her to do the hair blow dry. but she just slammed her door and left me begging other studios owners if they can fit me in for a blow dry. I was frustrated almost cried and there was so much things going on on my head that I left the place without paying attention that I forgot my jacket there. Yes I lost my jacket and my money on lyft round trip rides. luckily I found another place in Westfield which is Carlton hair salon they took me in and took good care of my hair. another story which happened to my sister. she booked an appointment when Tara had an opening for new client and it took one whole day to sent her an email declining her appointment which obviously shows that Tara scheduled someone else on my sister's appointment. Tara has been cutting my hair for over 6 years now. My regular hair stylist wasn't available at the time, so I was referred to Tara. Well, I'm so glad I was, because she is fantastic! I have never had a bad haircut or highlights with her, ever. She knows exactly what looks great and knows hair! I will literally tell her to just make my hair look cute, and she gives me exactly what I want. She just knows exactly how to make you look great, even when you can't describe what you really want. I just went to Tara for the first time yesterday. My hair was a true disaster, it hadn't been colored or cut in over a year!
