We were in Albany alllll daaaaay for an endoscopy procedure and needed a quick drive thru breakfast/lunch/ dinner to eat before we headed home for 2 hours in the fog. This is a weird little place with mostly great reviews. The chicken,bacon,avocado, and pimiento cheese wrap lured us in. Also, tons of sauces. The young lady at the window was very nice. The food was ready pretty quickly. Everything was fresh and hot. I thought it was delicious.The chicken was tender inside crunchy outside. The lettuce was good. The bacon was hot and crisp. The sauces ( parmesan garlic, honey mustard, barbecue) were tasty, and the fries were hot and crispy. My cranky son wanted Burgerville but didnt tell me, he ate it all moodily, later he acknowledged this was very good. 10/10 The only negative was the flimsy straw and overfilled plastic cup made strawberry lemonade go everywhere, which especially sucks when you are in the car but the lemonade still tasted good. read more

Have visited and gotten delivery a couple of times. Would generally recommend visiting in person if possible. Primarily since various things seem to be missing from the orders (from sauces to missing tenders). Service in person is always great. No problems there. The chicken itself is okay, nothing special, but it satisfies the fried chicken desire. Recommend the chicken sandwiches. The strips are okay. I personally don't like the coconut strips, but don't let that deter you from trying them out. The fries are great when they are hot, a perfect balance of crispy outside and soft inside. Honestly would come here for fries over chicken. The chicken definitely needs a sauce and luckily there is a lot to choose from. Prickly pear lemonade and strawberry lemonade are both good. First time to the Chicken Shanty and this place rocks. The wife had the Crispy chicken sandwich and I the Nashville,came with fries and a drink. Both sandwiches had a light,tasty, non greasy coating and the fries also non greasy and perfect. The Nashville comes with slaw on the sandwich which I thought would be messy but nope the premium bun kept it all together. The bathroom's were clean and we left not smelling like a chicken sandwich! On a whim I stopped in for lunch today. I was greeted by a couple friendly gentlemen who were earnest to serve up good food. Very helpful in describing some of the unusual sauces. Actually throughout my visit the staff were pleasant, cheerful and seemed genuinely interested in providing good service. The restaurant is clean, but feels sort of cluttered. I'm not saying it's bad, but it's different than most similar restaurants... metal signs for Fender guitars and a bicycle hanging upside down along with wooden tic tac toe games on the tables lent to the unusual atmosphere. So to the food. The chicken was juicy and tasty. The Western Sandwich was loaded with good flavors. It is a bit messy. I am not a fan of pimento cheese, and while I will say theirs is not bad... it's not a taste/texture I completely enjoy. The French fries are a battered style and are quite good. I had the Sweet Thai sriracha dipping sauce and it was pleasantly tangy and spicy. For $13.99 the sandwich is a decent value in comparison to others nearby. I saw the wraps at a neighboring table and those looked tasty and perhaps slightly more manageable. We were excited to try out The Chicken Shanty, especially since it's an Oregon chain. We ordered a variety of things to explore the menu - buffalo wings, crispy chicken wrap, shmakin fries (pimento cheese, chicken, ranch, BBQ sauce), and prickly pear lemonade. Our order was ready fairly quickly and came out in sturdy takeout boxes. It was particularly fun to try out the items with pimento cheese, since very few places serve it around here. I would have liked to have more pimento cheese in the chicken wrap since most of it was tortilla, but this location just opened and I'm sure they're still streamlining their process. The other items were tasty - I really enjoyed the extra crispy style of fries they serve! There's also a wide variety of dipping sauces to choose from. One thing to note is that if you order a meal that comes with fries, the portion may be minimal since few fit in the takeout box. Visiting Corvallis, I thought it would be fun to try somewhere new for a quick lunch that wasn't a national chain. My advice to you is to try any place else. I ordered chicken strips and french fries and everything came out of a freezer bag, nothing was made fresh. Looked like cafeteria food. Sauces came in indiscriminate little foil sealed cups. Tried this for the first time today. The food is made fresh when you order it and you can see it all being made. The breading was crispy and flavored ok. They have so many sauces to choose from. They were good but the house was our favorite in the end. Staff was pleasant but not overly friendly. They were busy so I'll chalk it up to that. The tables needed bussed when we came in and they were never bussed in the 40 minutes we were there eating. Again, they are busy but had some down times to wipe tables up. The decor and environment are cute. The music a little too loud and the fryers are loud but we didn't feel it was distracting. Overall value for the money and very very fresh! When you first walk into Chicken Shanty, you're greeted with the fresh smell of fried chicken and cheerful employees. The line for the food was long but also efficient due to the way they handle their orders. In the first station, you give your order to the employee and then pay up at cash register while getting your drinks. The wait was around 6 to 10 minutes and the food was fresh or hot when we got it. The ambiance was filled with a take on modern rustic southern with a aura of fried chicken. The franchised restaurant seemed like it recently acquired the building and the only noticeable flaw was the stained floor from previous companys. The quality of the food was great, besides the breading of the chicken since it fell of pretty easily. Although the seasoning and overall cook of the chicken was great. The fries were pretty basic along with the coleslaw but they still tasted phenomenal. The sauces were amazing too, we got the bbq, ranch, chipotle, and house southern. To give references to all of them, bbq along with the ranch were your to be expected sauces. While the chipotle tasted like a hotter and lil spicy take on a chipotle sauce. The house southern tasted nearly exactly or if not better canes sauce. Overall, great addition to the Corvallis fast food scene and will definitely be going back to try the variety of sauces. read more

The chicken sandwich was OK but there was a funky smell in that place, so it was kind of dirty. It was kind of gross.

Okay, like, the interior and stuff is a little funky, but the food is goooood. Fries were cooked perfectly, we both had different chicken wraps, we both really enjoyed them (that never happens!), everything was crispy and fresh. They have a selection of sauces, bbq was my favorite, but they were all pretty good. This would be a frequent visit for me if I lived around here. Pretty great for road food! read more

Worst service ever! Gave them another chance since my experience I got with them about a year ago I assumed was because they were a new establishment but unfortlately, that is not the case. The owner is too "busy" to speak with customer who is not satisfied and when speaking to the "manager" about our issues we were hung up on. Which, I can say we were at no time rude or hostile they just simply stated we are paying for quality when my chicken is raw and I didn't receive the fries in The baskets. I decided to try this place because their pictures in Yelp looked great, and I wasn't disappointed. Their schmackin fries are delicious, it is so hard to find a place with crunchy fries that aren't dry or overcooked, and this place absolutely nailed it. I also ordered some of their bone-in buffalo wings with ranch and let me tell you, these were the stars of an already great meal. Very meaty, and deep-fried perfectly. So many places with wings have small wings and drums that get overcooked to high heaven. These wings were slightly crunchy in the right way on the skin, and super juicy and tasty meat. It was alright. Not bad chicken, definitely juicy. But it wasn't anything I would get again. I have gotten there tenders and their sandwich and I liked the sandwich more because of flavor. Definitely needs sauce and they have a variety of it. You get 2 sauces of your choice and idk what it was about this night but it seems every time I answered anything they didn't really hear me because I'd asked for honey mustard and something else I forgot and they ended up giving me 1 hot honey. We ordered through Door Dash. I got the Chicken Bacon Avocado Wrap, and I liked it. My Husband, and daughters got boneless wings and chicken tenders. The chicken was moist but no flavor to the batter it was dipped in. They had to dip it in the ranch or ketchup to eat it. The fries were really yummy. I had Door Dashed it for someone else one time and it smelled amazing in my car so that's why I wanted to try it. I don't review things on yelp but I noticed this place doesn't really have any. The amount of food you get, is really good. I have only tried one thing, the chipotle chicken sandwich and the Cajun tots, but they are really really good. Also the pink soda is worth a try! I will come back to try other things. Sure it's a little more than fast food, but you're getting more than fast food I'd say. They also have a big selection of sauces. I had the coconut chicken strips. They were excellent. Tasty. Crispy. I had both the sriracha sauce and the chipotle sauce. The sriracha was a bit ho-hum, but the chipotle has to rank as among the best I've ever tasted. The cole slaw was pretty bland. Hence 1 star less than perfect. My wife loved the fries. I refrained due to carb tolerance issues, but they looked yummy. The black iced tea was very good. Service was a bit sketchy, but not terrible. The sit in facility is horribly noisy. Not sure how the kids that work there can stand it. I had a hard time hearing my wife who was sitting opposite me at the table. Also, she wasn't very comfortable. When this restaurant first opened, we went there for lunch. The service was slow, but we attributed that to the fact that they were still getting their routine together. However, they have been open for a while now. We went there again today and nothing has changed. In fact, the service seemed even slower than before. Additionally, it felt as if they were not heating the restaurant at all. It was a chilly day, and the restaurant was cold inside, so cold that we had to leave our coats on to stay warm. We made a mistake and ordered the hot chicken. Beware, it is extremely spicy hot, and the spicy coating is burned onto the chicken and even finds its way onto the neighboring french fries that touch the chicken that come with the order. We were unable to eat it and took it home to scrape the burned-on coating off so that the chicken was edible for us. We realize that some people will enjoy this spiciness. Our lunch, which included two orders of the hot chicken (including fries, a few pickle slices, a container of Hot Honey - we're not sure what that is exactly, we didn't try it - and a very small serving of coleslaw) and one fountain drink cost $30. We felt that was a lot. We can eat at other restaurants for less than half of that. We ended up going across the street to KFC for a kids meal lunch. read more

Their food is really good. The thing I had most recently, which was their Cajun Mac, was FANTASTIC. I will say, I had a pretzel bun sandwich at one point, where I was disappointed with the amount of chicken I received, but... IN GENERAL I've been very satisfied with the food I've gotten there, and if you like mac and cheese, their Cajun Mac is to die for. Really good. Will go there again. Also, their cooking time is reasonable- I've never had to wait much for my food. It was tough deciding whether or not to actually write this review, I hate to be one of those complainers, but ultimately I decided I needed to share my very mixed experience with the Chicken Shanty. Especially to avoid any parents ending up in the same situation as me. To start with the good... The food was GREAT! It is really cool that you can see the staff preparing the chicken breading right there on the line and frying it up fresh. The sauces are all really interesting and my family loved that there was an option for all of us with our diverse taste preferences. This is easily one of the best chicken restaurants in town. Now the bad... The staff, particularly their employee who I believe is called "Dray" were disrespectful to each other and acting unprofessionally. This "Dray" was teasing the younger gentlemen working with him to such a degree that it caused my young child to ask me what was going on. Once we got our food we overheard "Dray" again loudly discussing his personal life in fairly graphic detail which created a very NOT family friendly environment. Overall... We will DEFINITELY be ordering from here again but we will NOT be coming in person again. They describe themselves as being a fun family friendly store and we loved the idea of the outdoor tables for the summer as well as the games but unfortunately the language used and behavior of one of their staff has created an environment I do not wish to bring my child into again. Heard about this place from a co-worker. When we went in there were about 5 people ahead of us but the service was so fast. They specialize in one thing - chicken - and it's pretty darn good. Lots of options available, the staff was GREAT, the food was hot and there was a lot of it. Many sauce options too. The way they have it set up is very efficient and again, the staff was excellent. Adorable diner-style chicken place with amazingly friendly and personable staff, large portions that give you a bang for your buck, and unique takes on a bunch of different crispy chicken dishes! It's my partner and I's go-to spot to eat out, and has been since I tried the coconut chicken with their peanut sauce over the summer. The restaurant has a bunch of board games both indoor and outdoor throughout the space, and it's decorated like a vintage diner with pops of plant life around the entrance. Wish the location itself wasn't so tucked away; because the cinema behind it is closed, there's more available parking than not. The staff are always super welcoming when we're arriving and ordering; one of the managers on duty took the time to give my partner and I seasonal Chicken Shanty stickers that we think are adorable! Everyone is incredibly friendly, stickers or not. Would highly recommend the Mr. Krabs Sandwich (if it ever makes a comeback) or the coconut chicken with dragonfruit sauce or the peanut sauce, the chicken bacon avocado wrap with the Southwestern sauce, the upside down pineapple cake, or the prickly pear lemonade! I heard they just released a new winter menu, as well, so very excited to try from that as well! read more
