Arely's was very sweet and kind. The store looked organized and found the sizes I needed. Will always be my favorite Children's place store.

And like many there are things to improve. But when looking at the bigger picture, it is affordable and it offers things you usually pay double on other stores.

H&M is a great addition to Gurnee Mills. This Swiss clothing discounter is akin to the IKEA of…read moreretailing: quality is good but styling is superb. H&M really has their finger on the pulse of fashion trends and they bring them at an amazingly low price point. From socks ($17.95 for 10 pairs) to sunglasses ($10 a pair), I rely on H&M to deliver the goods. I had my sunglasses on a few weekends ago and my friend asked, "Where'd you get those fancy designer shades?" How cool is that? I've gotten a stylish navy blue trench coat there and found shorts on sale for amazing prices. Yesterday I found a great pair of lounging shorts for $5! I spotted a very cool cowl neck cotton pullover for my partner which was just in as well. At $29, it looked just like the one that sells for $195 at Allsaints Spitalfields or James Perse. From time to time, they will partner with high-end designers to bring a special capsule collection to the store. Right now, they're featuring French designer Isabel Marant. In the past, they've had collections by Viktor & Rolf, Jimmy Choo, Karl Lagerfeld, Versace, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Comme des Garçons, Matthew Williamson and Sonia Rykiel. Of course, if you want to feel like sports royalty, you can find the underwear collection by David Beckham there as well. People have mentioned that lines can be long here, which is true. It's the trade off you pay for getting this merchandise. As for help on the floor, the people who work here are helpful if you can find one available. I don't mind about this so much. These aren't deal breakers for me. I've also gone here to pick up gifts for friends around their birthdays and the holidays. I always find really fun gifts from purses to hats to jewelry. It's hip and inexpensive. I love H&M.

We've been coming to Gurnee Mills for three decades. Having lived in Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio…read moreduring this time, the mall has always been accessible to us and a place that we liked to patronize when our travels included the northern suburbs of Chicago. This massive mall with nearly 2M square feet of space for up to 200 retailers is always an interesting experience. The repertoire of shops here, of course, has changed over the years. Gone are shops like Sears, Borders and Circuit City. Now there's more contemporary replacements like Kohls, Hobby Lobby and Primark. While many traditional indoor malls are dying a slow, painful death, Gurnee Mills seems to be thriving at least to some extent. The food court is still quite active and the storefronts still seem largely occupied. I particularly enjoy places like 2nd & Charles, the aforementioned Primark and Five Below. The food options like Starbucks, Cinnabon and Charley's Steaks are quite good for a drink, a snack or a light meal. There are also places for the kids to play. All of this housed in a pleasant facility continues to make Gurnee Mills an enjoyable place to visit.

I've been shopping this mall for years and it's a mixed experience for sure. It's painfully large for one thing, you need to plan ahead. If you think you want to just walk around the mall to shop... wear good shoes because it's a trek. I recommend driving to different sections to take some of the burden off yourself. Selection varies constantly. They keep a few outlet stores I like but a lot of stores I enjoyed simply came and went. There are more high priced shirt stores than any one mall needs, I'll say that. Service varies by store so quite a bit. I like the vans store, always helpful staff in there. This mall still has a rainforest cafe! Pure nostalgia and a good place to take kids. There's really plenty to eat here, and plenty to eat adjacent as well. They've got some movie screens and though they aren't the cleanest they do get some fun exclusive events too. This mall has its ups and downs for sure. It can be kind of magical to shop here during holiday time but the rest of the year you definitely should have a specific destination in mind.
