In my case, on June 30, they came out to repair a couple of cracked joints in my chimney. They were claiming that this was the suspect of the leak in my chimney. All else is fine. About 20 minutes of work for $250 dollars. I implored them to please inspect, with their ladder the very top of the chimney since they were there. I have a chimney cap screwed over the bricks. They insured me that everything was fine. I was happy. Well, the wind storm we got a few weeks ago damaged the stack exhaust pipe. I had to go on the roof to replace the boot/flashing. After I was done, I noticed that the cement on the very top of the brick had a major crack circling the entire chimney. Now I know where the leak is coming from! I called NS Chimney and when I finally got in touch with Ray, he claimed that he could not look at this until the Spring!!! I have to go through the entire winter with water leaking down my chimney. I am not impressed with their customer service nor WHY THEY DID NOT SEE THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY WERE HERE! I am just stating the facts. I have a significant separation of the cement from the brick and they did not bring this to my attention. Nor would they back up their work. You can make your own judgements whether you should employee a contractor like this. They should honor their service and fix their mistakes.

The company is run by Ray McClellan. Ray came by today, inspected my chimneys, and advised me that *none* of the repairs the other company proposed was in fact necessary. North Shore Chimney's inspection cost twice as much as the other guys'. What you get for that extra money, however, is not only 20+ years of experience but also impeccable integrity. In my case, the latter saved me close to $ 4000.

If your chimney sweep is not taking the whole stove out in the process, they are not doing you any service! The A-Z team was very thorough and was able to show us the condition of our liner and some issues ignored by the previous so-called inspections so we were able to get all of it addressed to prevent future problems. They also went above and beyond to get to the bottom of our stubborn damper handle, getting everything working smoothly again.
