Used this company to replace a chimney cap as they were local. Large mistake, they installed a dented and oversized cap with only 2 screws. Technician blamed the rivets used caused the 1 inch overhangs, but agreed to replace. Jessica, their phone person, calls later and says a replacement is another $1000 as they made it to measurements given. I informed her they measured. She then indicated the owner would not replace. Should of checked yelp first as they only have 1 star for similar issues. Avoid this shady company!! read more

We recently purchased our home and it is our first time owning a fireplace. Our technician, Adrian, was on time and was incredibly helpful and thorough. He explained the condition of our fireplace and chimney, walked us through proper maintenance and things to look for, and was so friendly. He also left our house perfectly clean - the hearth is better than he found it. Will definitely be a repeat customer. Editing to add: also had a seamless, professional experience with getting an initial quote (which ended up being accurate) and booking and confirming the appointment. They also called occasionally when they had cancellations in case we were able to/wanted to move up our appointment. read more

We used this service for a chimney sweep and were so dissatisfied. First, I asked when booking the appointment if they dealt with wasp removal and they said yes, but we would just need to call a bee keeper out to spray some pheromones to keep them from coming back once they vacuumed them all up. Then on the day of our appointment, the technician said they don't deal with that. He also said that our gas fireplace should be a wood burning fireplace and tried to quote us for converting to a wood burning kit. We paid $129 for them to do nothing because the wasps are still coming. read more

Called to request quote/appointment to address leaking fireplace. She asked if I was sure leak wasn't from sideways rain. Mentioned it had leaked last year, and that handyman had addressed issue. She went on to "educate" me on handymen and licensed contractors. Needless to say, I did't get quote, service, or appointment. read more

They don't have any knowledge of their products, they're incompetent, they will not accommodate the simplest requests of telling how much a quote because as stated, "I will have to add that up." DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We are renting our home and our landlord has used this company for our chimney maintenance. In preparation for winter and wanting to use our fireplace, we made an appointment in OCTOBER. The first time they came out to clean the chimney and realized it needed a refractory panel replacement. The second appointment the technician realized he had the wrong size panel. Our third appointment we had to reschedule for inclement weather (understandable). Well today was our fourth appointment, in which I took off work for. The technician lied about even showing up to the house. Our time slot was from 9-11. At 9:40 I called the company. The woman I spoke with stated the technician was there at 9:30, but no one answered the door. I explained I had been waiting on my couch (5 feet from our front door) all morning and there was no knock or doorbell ring. She said "well the technician left because he had to move on to his next appointment," which is nonsense considering our time frame was until 11. If he simply had the wrong unit, he still would've had plenty of time to come back and do the job... Now, the soonest they can come back out is December 13th. It has been a TWO MONTH process to get our chimney ready for use. In the meantime, I am looking into other HONEST companies that can possibly do the replacement instead. It's a real shame when a company doesn't take care of their customers, particularly for THEIR mistakes. read more

Needed a cleaning, gave them a call. Friendly, efficient scheduling, a reminder call the day of the visit, and a very friendly , polite, and thorough person showed up. Cleaner also took a look, said the chimney wasn't that dirty, and he could leave and not charge, or do the work. I was impressed, and opted for a cleaning anyway. Made an appointment a few weeks ago for them to come out today. I took off from work to be here for them. Well yesterday at 11:30 I received an email to confirm my appointment. I was at work, didn't have my phone on me- not checking personal emails. So I didn't read it until after work. At 4- I got another email that they had cancelled my appointment- because I didn't confirm to the 11:30 email. They gave me less than 5 hours to confirm an appointment I wanted! After work is when I got my phone and start looking through my personal emails and saw two emails from "cleanit". I didn't open them at first- I thought it was spam. But when I did- that's when I read all the above mentioned issues. So I called them to tell them I still wanted my appointment. But they told me they already booked my time. I was pissed. Giving a customer 4 hours to confirm an appointment they want from an email that looks like spam is so insane! They offered me a another day a week from now- but that's another day I have to ask off. It's their fault. So I decided to never use them. As I was looking for other companies because of this- I found one right away on my first search with great reviews that's much cheaper than these people. The Chimney Sweep was going to charge me $300 for a chimney sweep and dryer vent cleaning. The new company the The Chimney Expert is charging me $199. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I find their customer service to be shady and not up to my standards. And now I know they're expensive anyway. Receive your services from another company! Not this one. read more

I'm always skeptical of a company I haven't dealt with previously but I was greatly pleased with their service. They replaced my broken gas fireplace starter and they did it for less than the price I was quoted on the phone. TJ was professional, experienced, communicative and made the extra effort to protect my carpeting. I'll be using them again to clean my chimney. Highley recommend! read more

I had an appointment for cleaning. When they arrived, they said my chimney was actually clean and didn't need anything done. BUT, they then said it was a $99 service fee for showing up or I could just pay $118 for an inspection. None of this was explained to me when I made the appointment. Nothing about a service fee or fee just to stop by. I think this is wrong to do to customers who don't need cleaning after all yet get stuck with a ridiculous service fee. Customers need to be told this in advance when appointments are booked. We definitely won't be using Chimney Sweep for any of our chimney needs. I wish I had read the reviews first. read more

I hate to write negative reviews on companies that I've liked in the past. That said, The Chimney Sweep now qualifies. This spring I had them sweep the chimney, point the chimney masonry and spray a sealant on the entire chimney exterior at no small cost. When I came out to inspect the work, I discovered that their spray technician didn't use any drop cloths. The result was overspray on two loungers, a grill cover, pool heater, pool piping, control boxes and not the least, part of our pool flagstone and pavers. After I pointed out the damage, the technicians made an effort to remove the most serious overspray, but much remained. I called The Chimney Sweep office and the owner came out to investigate. He wanted to power wash the pavers, but that would remove the sand between them as well and I declined. He said he'd check and see what solvent would be used on that and the other surfaces and that if they couldn't remove the spots from the loungers, he would replace them. That was several months ago and I'm still waiting to have them fix it. Oh, and the summer heat has now turned the overspray spots an ugly brown. I've called five times to see what they intended to do and was promised a callback from the owner each time. He's never called and no action has been taken. I don't know what's happened, but this isn't the same quality organization that I dealt with before. read more

AVOID! My 3-year old could do better accounting than this company. They mis-charged me TWICE! I had to call four times to get them to correct their mistakes, which resulted in me being overcharged over $200. The people that run the office are completely clueless and unapologetic. I don't have any issues with the work done - although I wasn't too happy that they wouldn't do an chimney cap installation without doing an "chimney inspection" (this is a non-working fireplace, so I really didn't feel like I needed a inspection) - this totally awesome "inspection" took all of 5 minutes and cost $125. read more

Not an honest company. They covered all the beautiful brickwork with a thick layer of mortar and I don't know why. There was nothing wrong with our chimney. They said it was preventative maintenance and charged $800. They said it would dry translucent, but it never did and it's been over a month. I'm heartbroken... We were just wanting to sweep and preserve our beautiful chimney, not cover it up with a layer of concrete. This was a big disappointment and loss for us. And they only take your credit card information over the phone... sketchy. read more

Jimmy Ives looked at 3 fireplace inserts I needed installed in 2 new home builds in Durant Ok, he climbed on the roof, in the fireplace areas and measured up the chimney framing. He was there on a Saturday, quoted me $3185 turn-key to install all 3. Jimmy Ives asked for a deposit of $2185 to buy the needed parts which I paid with a check. Jimmy Ives said he would be back that coming Wednesday or Thursday at the latest and it would take only 1/2 a day to finish. Jimmy Ives never showed up, I called, and text messaged him several times to no avail. He contacted me back 1 week later saying he was sick and couldn't work the last week but would positively be there on the following Wednesday. Well Jimmy Ives never showed up, in fact it's been almost 3 weeks and all Jimmy Ives did to date was drop off some pipe and left. This person is a walking excuse and profanity machine, he is now threating to kick my F-ing ass because I told him his excuses of being sick is a personal problem and has nothing to do with me or the completion of my projects. I am pursuing legal action against Jimmy Ives tomorrow- 4-9-2021 with my district Attorney. read more

I have never written a bad YELP before but I am taking time to save others. I had used this company for the past 20 years, getting the business card from the previous homeowner. Choya would come out a do a great job. I recommended him to several friends. After calling this spring, a different crew came out, cleaned, DISCONNECTED my gas starter and left a bill for an additional $1300 in work. Choya had been here three years ago and never mentioned a problem. I called the office to ask for Choya twice and was told he is still the owner but he never returned my calls. These folks are great! Mike and Fred came out, gave me a quote, were back and did the work -- pretty extensive, both inside and out. They left it better than they found it and exceeded our expectations. Very happy with the results and would recommend highly. First I had to wait over a month to get the appointment then they say it will be $149 which seems high to me. They get here, vacuum out the firebox and then say I've got a nest in the flue and it will be $300, we can't do it today and it will take three weeks for us to COME BACK! WHAT!!!. SO somehow it will cost and extra $150 to take out a nest. I sent the guy packing and still got charged $99. Do yourself a favor and don't do business with this company. They are con-artists. Called to set up an appointment to get an estimate on the repairs of all panels in my fireplace (both sides, back and bottom). The Chimney sweep didn't want to set up a time or put me on the schedule for an appointment because it "was just an estimate." Those were their words. I was told that I would be put on the schedule when someone was "out in my area". That would be fine if I didn't have to work for a living and could just be at home at their beck and call. Then I was told that no one needed to come out to estimate, that she could tell me how the panels were. And how many panels am I going to need? She had no idea and could not tell me the dimensions of the panels so I could possibly calculate how many would be needed. For a repair that is going to cost between $500- $1000, I want a little more info than someone on the phone telling me how much the panels cost. read more

After using them for a chimney cleaning last year, and having a good experience I calle them back for more work. Took three weeks to get an appointment to have our gas line/pipe replaced in our fireplace...apparently a 30 minute job, they said. They called two days before to change the appointment time. Didn't show or call day of. I called an hour after the scheduled appointment and they said they were running late. After arranging to get someone to my house to wait for them they cancelled on me and said they couldn't come. But they would put us on the schedule for two days later for a "definite appointment" and make a note not to reschedule me next time. Don't waste your time with these people. read more

Do not use! This company does not know the fire code. We were hit by a tornado and needed our chimney pipe replaced. Another chimney company advised that because the manufacturer of the firebox is out of business, we would need to replace the entire fireplace system. Our insurance company called out The Chimney Sweep, who advised that they could manufacture a generic pipe and bolt it onto our existing firebox. Since the original chimney company adamantly insisted that was against the fire code, we checked with our city's building inspections department, who advised that any pipe installed would need to come with an installation manual stating it was manufactured to work with our specific firebox. In other words, the original chimney company was right, and The Chimney Sweep did not know what they were talking about. I would expect them to be more knowledgeable about the fire code, considering the business they are in. read more

Let me start by saying that I have never posted a review. I had the Chimney Sweep custom build a chimney cap and damper for my fireplace many years ago. They were nice and seemed to do a good job. Fast forward to today when I called and told them I was having a problem with birds getting in. They asked for my name and said I was not in their system. They claim to only keep accounting records for 5 years and that if I did not keep my original paper work they would not honor the warranty. I asked if they had a way to look it up and was told they have thousands of clients and could not possibly take the time to do it. Ironically, they don't keep track of their customers or the warranties they promise! When I asked if they wouldn't recognize their own handiwork I was told that they have their own steel plant and that for all they knew I bought it from there and had someone else install it. If I were the owner I would have at least offered to come look at the problem and offered a discounted price. After all, they had a loyal customer but not anymore. read more
