    Hh nacho

Went to Chinese Cowboy for Happy Hour before a Blazer game and thought it was a fantastic choice. The restaurant was a nice space with lots of windows which allowed a lot of natural light...I believe this was the old Taqueria Nueve space. We ordered the HH brisket nacho, HH brisket, and the Szechuan Chicken off the dinner menu. The HH were good and great values. I really enjoyed the nacho...appeared as if everything was made from scratch on it which is appreciated. But what blew us away was the Szechuan Chicken. It was so good we were talking about it during the game. It tasted authentically Chinese to me without pulling any punches on spice. In fact it was better than some Chinese restaurants I've had. I was a bit sad that we were their only guests during our meal...our food ranged from above average to damn we need to come back just for that. Perfect spot to go prior to an event. Service was fantastic as well.

Great service here and a solid happy hour. The brisket was the star on the nachos. Steak bites were good and we enjoyed the delicious slaw on the sliders but preferred the brisket over the pork. Loved how light and bright the space is.

Went to The Chinese Cowboy last Saturday (2/28/26) and totally enjoyed it. Had the dumplings and pork sliders with cocktails. Live music was fun creating a very cool experience. Definitely enjoyed my visit and plan to return soon!

Delicious bbq with an asian twist? Yes please! My favorite was the Warsugai Sandwich-- it had a crispy almond panko crusted chicken breast with a tasty mustard aioli. The Brisket Sandwich was also super tasty! The 12-hour smoked beef brisket was tender and flavorful. It came with a tangy ginger-sesame slaw inside, which was a nice balance to the rich smoky bbq sauce on the meat. The fried green beans were also tastefully cooked, and a good way to get some greens. If you go on a Friday or Saturday, make sure to also get the fresh baked cornbread with whipped honey butter!

Sliders pulled pork special, Mac n cheese, warsugai sandwich! So good, recommend all!

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

But as soon as I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is beautiful, with a stylish central bar that immediately catches your eye. Although they do serve food, I wasn't very hungry, so I decided to just enjoy a couple of drinks. There are a few dining tables inside if you're planning to have a meal as well. The bartender was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with me after I asked for a few recommendations. The drinks were excellent, well-balanced, flavorful, and actually tasted like proper cocktails instead of just juice. They definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol either! I'm really glad I chose this place to celebrate. It ended up being the perfect spot for the occasion.

As a heads up tho, I wouldn't come here if I had a party more than 4 if you want to seated quickly, less in your party is better! The moment you step inside, it feels like you've been transported somewhere tropical! If it is daytime outside, you wouldn't be able to tell inside of Hale Pele. Between the thunderstorm effects, flickering lights, bamboo accents, and cocktails literally arriving on fire, the whole experience feels immersive! I've been coming here for the last 10 years and it's the spot to recommend for birthdays! The drinks are fire (literally), the food is so good. I recommend the sliders and the Hawaiin bread that comes with the fruit jelly!!! if you feel like escaping Portland for a few hours and spending the evening in Hawaii or the Caribbean, you gotta come here!

The ambiance is downright whimsical! Great wine selection, gorgeous floral installations, and one of those spaces where you immediately want to settle in with a book in hand. But let's talk about the crudo. I still think about that crudo. Bright, lemony, silky olive oil - simple but done so well. We even asked our waitress if we can keep the leftover olive oil to use it with the bread we ordered lol The oysters were also fantastic. They were barbecued, which isn't something you see every day. A little drier than a raw oyster, but still full of flavor. Limited seating so be sure to call ahead of time for a reservation if need be. Scotch Lodge recently won Outstanding Bar at 2026 James Beard Awards and it absolutely deserves it…read more The cocktails here are seriously some of the best that I've had in the States. In addition to creative, well-prepared cocktails, the food here is equally spectacular. My wife and I shared their Wagyu tartar and a soft shell crab sando. You'll see these two dishes at virtually every single table if you look around the restaurant during your visit and there's good reason for it: these two dishes are perfectly executed. Every piece of the tartare is evenly cut the be the same size, and there wasn't a single piece that was stringy or chewy. The dish itself was well-seasoned, and the freshly fried kettle chips provided the crunchy texture the dish needed. The soft shell crab sando is served between two toasted slices of rich, decadent, buttered milk bread. The crab has a wonderfully crispy outer shell and atop of the crab is a mountain of crunchy, tangy slaw. They must have done a bunch of R&D and experimentation playing with the ratio of the ingredients because every bite was balanced. If there's one dish you have to order during your visit, make it the crab sando. The two cocktails I tried out were the "loch stock" -- mezcal, smoky scotch, ancho reyes, lapsang souchong sweet vermouth, and mole bitters, and the "up country road" -- bourbon, coconut-inflused sweet vermouth, macadamia nut campari. I cannot articulate how incredible these two drinks tasted. The flavor profile of the drinks are punchy and exactly as described. I am certain there's something on the menu for everyone's palette. I would highly advise you to stay hydrated throughout your visit so you're able to make it to two, or even three round of drinks. The drinks are that good. I cannot recommend Scotch Lodge enough if you're visiting Portland. Definitely make a reservation and be sure to try out the food as well.
