This delicious little hole in the wall restaurant is comfortable, great service, and delicious food. If you like a little kick of spice with amazing flavors, I definitely recommend this one!

herb salad with mixed herbs like parsley and cilantro and watercress with a Thai chili dressing. This is spicy if you like spicy salads.

This is a perfect addition to a block on Belmont that is plentiful of bars and nightlife. Bangkok Belly, with its casual vibes and strong cocktail program, definitely fits the neighborhood draw. It's Thai street food and the tiny menu focuses on skewers and salads, with a couple of specials (that changes each season). I started with a Thai tea punch, which was like a spiked iced tea (but not crazy strong like Long Island iced tea but same approach), and then I dug into the menu. I got the gai satay or chicken skewer that was perfectly cooked and served with a funky dipping sauce that had the authentic Thai spices. The moo ping skewer is grilled pork collar, and it was also nicely cooked, and this served with a peanut sauce and slices of toast. The server said that's how they serve this dish in Thailand, dipping the toast in the peanut sauce. The grilling quality reminded me of another Belmont restaurant down the road, Bluto's, so Bangkok Belly reminded me like a Thai version of Bluto's (which is Greek skewers). I tried the herb salad, which is almost like a plate of parsley, but it was so refreshing and different that it was really a pleasant surprise. The larb mac salad is a play on the Thai larb dish but with macaroni as the main ingredient (and the website jokes that this was an invention from a picnic potluck). This is probably the most unusual item on the menu, but while it was a nice mac salad, it wasn't necessarily my favorite item. It's nice as a side to cool off from the Thai heat in the other dishes. Still, I loved everything else, and the service was great, and the place seemed pretty popular as the evening went on. So excited to see this in the neighborhood!

I heard about the soft opening this weekend from a friend. I was intrigued by the story so I had to check it out. I must say, I am absolutely impressed. The menu is small but perfect and well thought out. We were a party of 4 so fortunately, we were able to explore most of the menu items. The people working were all amazing and hospitable. The cocktails were all incredible and the food was extremely tasty and high quality. It's a small space with a great ambiance. A must try for anyone in or visiting Portland.

We shared the cream cheese wontons, coconut curry with chicken spice level 2(which comes with rice), and the luc lac. Everything was deliciousss! The chicken in the curry broke apart so easily and the curry itself was very flavorful. Spice level 2 was perfect for a little kick, but not too much. The meat on the luc lac has a nice char on it and a sauce that is almost sweet. Service is quick and the vibe inside is very trendy with colorful decor and lights. Great for a night out. Previous visits have sometimes left us confused as if we ordered something different than a usual so i would say it is not too consistent but great if you catch it on a good day.

Disappointed in the price and quality…read more The taste of the pho was okay. Also, my partners shrimp dish did not have a lot of shrimp for being $22. I was very disappointed and the Vietnamese iced coffee being told that's just how it comes and talked down to like I was dumb. I've had iced coffee, several Vietnamese places and this is the first time it's been about a tablespoon or two of liquid and almost all ice. See photo of finished beverage. For $6.50 this was massively overpriced. The ambiance is super cool which is why I think this place is rated so high. It is fun with all the decoration but not worth it for the food.

Huge shout out to Jesse!! Please ask for him and sit in his section. He will take care of you!! 2. The drinks: go to happy hour and they will keep the drinks flowing. They make good drinks and they are not stingy on the alcohol. 3. The view: by far, best view i saw all week. Came for business and it was just so great come up here and just relax after a long day and enjoy the view. Ok now the only real negative. 1. The food: unfortunately we didn't enjoy many of the dishes we had during our few visits. Chicken bao buns, ok but not crispy at all which is odd since the name has KFC crispy. Got the sushi, not a fan of lemon slices but the fish was fine. Also got the crab fried rice. So disappointed in this dish. The basil with the crab with lemongrass. Just did not sit well and it was sooooo salty. I never do this but had to send it back. Then ordered the branzino. I will say this was actually very very delicious. Very crispy and light and came with this herb sauce that paired so well. Salty for sure, but good to enjoy on a hot day. Also got the egg noodles. These i actually has the right balance of flavors. I will say it was more sweet than spicy but good. Tried the Alaskan halibut. It was light and very good flavor but salty again. Got the shrimp toast and it was very greasy. When you bit into it, it mostly just tastes like oil. Got the garlic fried rice from the happy hour menu and it was good. Overall, i will return for drinks if i am in town, but not for food.
