We came in on a Sunday evening and there was a good sized crowd, which is always a good sign. We were just looking for a little treat before road tripping back from the beautiful Nashville IN and it looked like their menu had everything under the sun. I was shocked every time the tv menus would rotate around! They have anything you could want! For just our quick trip, we got some hot chocolates. The beverage was delicious, nicely chocolatey and the perfect drinking temperature from the start. It was $5 for a 12 oz, which is a fair price for the delicious drink. I noticed that they have a good range of seating options, from larger group tables to couches. It was a really nice place to wind down before hitting the road. I also saw they sell a lot of varieties of locally roasted coffee that looked good. I personally am not in Nashville often but I'd definitely make a trip back.

The Chocolate Moose has become a family tradition every time we come to Brown County and Nashville, Indiana. Several years ago, we were on our way out of town and my mom wanted to treat the kids to some ice cream. We had such a nice time sitting and relaxing over ice cream after our family trip. The next time we visited Nashville, mom was with us and we ended up at this little ice cream parlor, once again. And another time, as well. Mom just loved getting her grandbabies some ice cream, I guess! Ever since that time, whether my mom is along for the trip or not, my kids beg to go to The Chocolate Moose. Now, I just plan for it as a normal part of our excursion. Lots of great flavors and add-ins. The coffee is great, as well as the milkshakes and sundaes. It's not the cheapest, but I don't think I've ever found an "affordable" ice cream shop, so just shut up dad, and get with the program! The memories far outweigh the small loan I could have taken out to cover our many visits to the Moose! The next time you find yourself in Nashville, make sure and swing by The Chocolate Moose on your way in or as you exit. It always adds that little extra something special to our trips.

Excellent ice cream. Lots of different flavors and several vegan selections. All the ice cream is local made and so rich. They also do coffees. I'll be back again.

We visited this restaurant on a trip to Nashville, IN. They have a fairly large menu with a variety of options. The service is a little slower and the dining room fills up at busier times. The employees were friendly and courteous. Everyone enjoyed their ice cream treats, shakes, and drinks. The coffee is locally sourced. It was a little on the weaker side but had a good flavor. It's worth a try!

"Small" cone!

The Chocolate Moose is a locally owned and operated ice cream shop that sells much more than ice cream. The ice cream is homemade with about 16 different flavors. Portions are huge with a small giving you 2 big scoops. I had the Brown County Coffee small cone. The ice cream was sweet and delicious. There was so much ice cream that I couldn't eat it all! Our server was friendly and accommodating. He provided a cup for my granddaughter so she could manage the huge cone. They also serve sandwiches and hot dogs. The all beef hot dogs looked great. They make a variety of specialty coffees, smoothies and teas. Those looked great and I will try next visit. They have a small dining room with tables and sofas and an outdoor patio area with picnic tables. The location in Nashville attracts tourists visiting the historic artist town. They also sell locally roasted Brown County Coffee by the bag. There were about 8 or so different flavors.

The Chocolate Moose is a great little all-purpose coffee and ice cream shop. They offer many varieties of coffee. Their ice cream options are amazing - both soft serve and homemade varieties. Including cones, sundaes, BANANA SPLITS, and more. They have sub sandwiches, Mac 'n cheese, hot dogs fries, and a whole wall full of other options. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The store is clean. It must be good because the locals stop by, too. There is indoor and outdoor seating. If you're in the area, I recommend you stop by.

We're locals and The Chocolate Moose is our favorite ice cream shop in town. The ice cream is super flavorful and there are lots of menu options and mix ins. Grasshopper is our favorite (mint ice cream with Oreos instead of chocolate chips)! Our daughter gets Chocolate Moose whenever she scores a soccer goal. Keeps her motivated. LOL

After completing our seven vistas challenge, Brown County Visitors Center listened to our little one describe how eager she was to get a popsicle at the camp store, and the staff there sent us here. Score! We beat the muggy midwestern heat here with a decent ice cream menu, multiplied by shake and sundae options. There are bright slushes and snow cones, perfect for little palettes, and a Brown County Coffee Co. menu for grownups including standards and pour overs. Next time! There were five vegan ice creams the day we visited. Parking isn't huge, but the there are so many treats inside--pretty consistent with the rest of Nashville! The butter pecan on a simple sugar cone was perfect.

The ice cream was amazing! The ice cream is a lot so it's easy to share with someone! Service was slow but good. This town is a very slow down town so no one is rushing around to do anything! It's not a bad thing though. The ambiance was fun. They have games for kids to play and cute booths to sit in. They do have parking on the side of the store!

Depending on how busy they are, you may have a short wait for a table, and your food might take a little longer to come out--but it's well worth it. Don't stop at just the restaurant. Take some time to explore the beautiful grounds, browse the merchandise shop, and walk out to Hard Truth on the Rocks, where you'll find a spacious outdoor deck overlooking the property. During the warmer months, they often have live music, making it an easy place to spend a few relaxing hours. The cocktails are excellent, the staff has always been incredibly friendly, and there's plenty of Hard Truth merchandise if you're looking for a souvenir. I may or may not have left with a t-shirt. Whether you're visiting Brown County for the day or just passing through Nashville, Hard Truth is more than just a restaurant--it's a destination that's absolutely worth adding to your itinerary.

I ordered the spinach salad and it came out perfectly. I had grilled chicken added to it. The flavor was great and there were sun-dried tomatoes, bacon, and walnuts on the salad. It turned out, they had to make my iced tea special, because they weren't allowed to use the tap water because of some boil order that was established in the area. OK! They were able to pivot and make me my unsweetened ice tea with bottled water, instead. My iced tea was great and just what I wanted. What customer service! I wish I wanted some baked goods while I was here, because this place has all of the homemade-looking baked goods. Peanut butter cookies in a Tupperware container, bread pudding covered in plastic wrap, apple pie in a metal pie dish. All of the baked goods look like they were made by someone's grandma. And they looked like they were labeled by someone's grandpa, carefully, in grandpa handwriting. Nashville General Store has a breakfast and lunch menu along with baked goods, with a big indoor dining room that you can sit in and enjoy your meal. Breakfast foods include pancakes, quiche and breakfast sandwiches; lunch options include things like sandwiches, soups, salads and sides. This place is also a store. You will find things like jams and canned goods, home decor, and lots more stuff with a country aesthetic. It's a cute place to visit to grab something to eat or drink, and look around.

Mostly stuff you'll find all over Nashville. The dining area features mix n match furniture with a country kitchen vibe. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to your table. We spent $45 for lunch for two but it sure seemed worth it.

Pizza takes up half of the food menu, so you will most likely get the pizza. That's what I did! I got a 10-inch margherita pizza for myself, which ended up being more pizza than I could eat. It's 6 slices, and the crust is very thick, so it was a lot of bread. You can also get calzones and hoagies here, as well as things like salads, wings, nachos and breadsticks. Big Woods Pizza has outdoor seating on the patio, with some patio games to keep you occupied while you wait (giant Jenga!). The roast beef was delectable! I was served 3 of them and I could have probably ate 6. The mashed potatoes were also tasty but they were served with chicken gravy instead of beef.
