Honestly, everything we've ever had there has been outstanding. But tonight, my review is really about a staff member, Cory. While we were there, a customer came in upset about having to place her special-order request in person. Cory remained calm, courteous, and professional as she tried to explain the policy and even stepped away briefly to help another guest and diffuse the situation. Unfortunately, the customer became verbally abusive and called Cory an insulting name before storming out. I just want to recognize Cory for handling a difficult situation with grace and professionalism. No one in the service industry should have to endure verbal abuse simply for doing their job. Kindness and respect cost nothing, and Cory deserved both tonight. read more

Went here for lunch over the weekend. They had a great menu - there's something for everyone from burgers to sandwiches. I ordered the Grilled Jamaican Jerk Chicken, which was topped with slaw, pickled onions, and roasted garlic aioli, and came with fries. My boyfriend ordered the Bacon Bleu, which is prime roast beef topped with bleu cheese crumbles, caramelized onions, balsamic and roasted garlic aioli. It came with au jus for dipping as well as fries. Both sandwiches were great! The bread was super fresh and they each had great flavor. The fries were also perfectly cooked. Our waitress was super attentive and the service was quick. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and I hope to return soon! read more

After trying 605 Smash, I knew I had to check out Restaurant 605. The ambiance was exactly what you'd want in a cozy, pub-style spot--inviting, laid-back, and full of character. The waitress who helped us was super sweet, kind, and patient. We started with the Italian Garbage Bread, and wow--it was so delicious! Perfectly seasoned, cheesy, and crispy. All of my friends loved it. For my main, I went with the Double Don Marco Bacon Bleu 605 Signature Cheeseburger, loaded with Applewood bacon, bleu cheese, balsamic onion jam, garlic aioli, and mixed greens. It was incredibly flavorful, juicy, and perfectly balanced. The double patty was just the right size--thick and satisfying without being overwhelming. One of my friends ordered the triple and quickly regretted not sticking with the double, but hey, if you think you can handle it, go for it! My friends who ordered the Grilled Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Cheddar Bacon Smokehouse, and Chicken Parm Sandwich were all thrilled with their meals. The fries? Also on point. Very clean, and the service from the bartender/waitress was superb (Halsey) She went on to explain everything we needed to know about the menu and what was recommended by a review from the Times Union. Pretty average pub style restaurant. Based on the reviews and photos I've seen, I think I had expected something more wow-worthy. We showed up right at opening and had the place to ourselves for lunch. Service was friendly, helpful with recommendations. The drink menu was pretty standard and well priced. I opted for the Old Fash - which was certainly nothing special, but well priced and strong if that's what you're looking for. The Lavender Margarita was a better choice but more lavender in color than flavor. The beer list looked pretty good and I imagine this is more of a beer focused sports bar than a cocktail spot. I remember seeing the wings in photos and they looked awesome. This photo as looks awesome, but behind the looks, the wings were flabby and not even remotely crisp. The insides were very moist and the sauce was tasty, but bad execution on the fry for sure. Good portion and large wings for the price. I also saw several reviews on their burgers and I never order burgers out, so I gave it a go. I ordered the mushroom burger, double smashed patties. I liked the crispy edges of the burger, it was good, but why is it served in the basket? It made it difficult to eat and maneuver inside the basic, difficult to cut the burger, and the burger was on top of the small portion of fries. The fries were good, probably standard frozen fries. With all the places to go, not sure if I would go out of my way to come here again. It's all street parking if you do go, just fyi. After hearing that Restaurant 605 has some of the best burgers there is, I knew I had to give it a try. With that known, I ordered the classic double cheeseburger with fries. To start, the burger was smash style topped with bacon, secret sauce, and caramelized onions. Knowing that, the burger was absolutely delicious. To explain, the beef had phenomenal flavor and tasted extremely fresh. In addition, the secret sauce was tangy, creamy, and went great with the burger. Also, the caramelized onions were cooked perfectly. Finally, the bun was incredibly fresh and matched perfectly with the burger. This was simply an top notch burger. In the same vein, the fries were very good. To enumerate, the fries were hot, crispy, and seasoned. It felt so good to have good fries instead of generic frozen ones for once. Great meal up in Albany celebrating a friend! This cute little restaurant has a lot of flavor and great staff, especially Susan who helped setup a reservation for our little mini baby shower. We practically had the place to ourselves! The smashburgers were a standout and the "double" was HUGE! They came out piping hot and everyone raved about them. I got the Bacon Bleu and it was everything. My only complaint is it was a little too much bread. I also asked for buffalo sauce on the side which was really good too, and tasted homemade. The real star of our meal though was the Chorizo Queso Fundido Dip with house made tortillas. I went to 605 with a group of work friends. I have to say it was delicious. I had the burger, which was so flavorful. I felt like they didn't give enough fries with the burger but was tasty . The service was very slow, it seems that her friends were at the table next to us, and she seemed to be ignoring us when we needed things at our table to eat our meal. constantly having to ask for stuff isn't a good look especially while you're standing right next to our table. I also went another night with my girlfriends to have a few drinks and the same thing. The bartender was not attentive at all, continue to talk to his friends while he saw our drinks were empty. And when he finally came over to ask us if we wanted another drink, we decided that we were gonna leave and said no thanks can we close out and he told us we were gross that we wanted leave. Honestly, even though he was joking, or whatever it made us feel super uncomfortable. This is located across from st peters Hospital, and it's a neighborhood feel more like a grill, but we met the owners, and Bartender was knowledgeable and friendly, taking care of us. I love the unique infusion of chorizo and the menu items. Everyone enjoy their meals and the portions were plentiful. This is a million percent upgrade! The vibe is modern, refined, yet invitingly casual. It is a family run business with phenomenal Chef Gabriel Moya and top notch, friendly, and attentive, staff. The signature 605 Cosmo is absolutely delicious (and one of the best cosmopolitan cocktails I've ever had.). The icy cold pink delight had the perfect sweet/citrus balance. This visit we stopped in just for after work cocktails and appetizers. The Ahi Tuna Poke Nachos. This is a shareable dish with crispy wonton triangles topped with sushi grade ahi tuna, thinly sliced peppers, avocado chunks, with sprinkles of black sesame and drizzled with a sort of plum wasabi sauce. I was siting eating when i noticed a woman walking in with a very small service dog. The "owner" susan ran to the door to make sure they didn't get in. Overhearing the owner say we have people in here who are fearful you can't come in. Mind you the bar/ restaurant had like 8 people in it. The woman with the service dog stated it is illegal for susan to do what she is doing and started to leave as well as stated she will report the restaurant . Located right across from St. Pete's, Restaurant 605 is a newly renovated, family-owned restaurant/bar that is focused on scratch-made "globally-inspired" fare. You'll also find American-style burgers and fries with the bonus that the chef is focused on quality. The specials yesterday were homemade empanadas with chimichurri sauce and a "city style" chopped cheese hoagie (ground beef, American cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato). We ordered both of those options, baked buffalo honey garlic wings and a side of sweet potato fries. Everything was literally perfect. The empanada was the real deal - not a hint of grease and packed with flavor. I don't eat much beef, but that hoagie was beyond excellent. Regular and sweet potato fries rocked. They provided some honey mustard and Carolina sauce for dipping; I absolutely loved the Carolina sauce. Wings were slightly spicy with a hint of sweetness and the blue cheese dressing was just right. We learned that even the sauces/dips/dressings are homemade. While I desperately tried to finish everything, we ultimately needed a to-go box. There's a great selection of tap beers, cocktails and wine. Staff/owners are super friendly, pleasant and professional. Decor is open, clean and comfortable. It's been months since we last visited 605. This time, my husband and I decided to start by sharing the Shishito Peppers sautéd with garlic as an appetizer. Wow. That was a taste sensation. There were a lot of peppers in that dish. We couldn't finish them so we took them home. Our server, who was wonderfully helpful, suggested reheating them in an air fryer the next day which is exactly what we did. They were still awesome. I also ordered a Jerk Chicken Sandwich which came with fries. It was good. Slightly spicy. I enjoyed it but I was a bit disappointed. I'm very familiar with Caribbean food and was hoping for a bit more flavor and texture. The fries were wonderfully crispy. The service is good. The decor is nice. The place is clean. I enjoyed watching sports on the numerous tv screens. As I've said before this is not an ordinary sports bar. I can count on getting a good meal. We were at St Peters hospital for the day and starved as expected. We checked out restaurant 605 and we are very glad that we did! The owners are down to earth, appreciative and hard-working people that offer a warm, upscale sports bar space, but also where it's not overcrowded if you wanted to sit at a table with your family. These people definitely know food. We tried a handful of different menu items, and everything was outstanding. I apologize for the lack of photos...we inhaled the food because it was so good. Highland Hollow Farm has THE BEST beef hands down. 605 showcases it with amazing flavor combinations and a deliciously high end product for upscale pub fare. Service is excellent. Food was very good. But there was a real turn-off in my experience. It came when the bill arrived. Unbeknownst to me, a 20% gratuity fee was buried in the bill. It was listed along with our drinks and entrées! If I had not examined my bill carefully, I would never have noticed it. Most restaurants add the gratuity at the very end so it is apparent to the consumer. After submitting my credit card, I noticed on my signature slip that there was a designated space to add a tip on top of the previously 20% already paid tip. I am a historically, a big tipper and the only thing I ask is for transparency when receiving a bill. Oh, and one last thing, there is a 3 1/2% credit card charge that was added at the end of my transaction. That would've been nice to know upfront as well. read more

We had a perfect visit Wednesday, there was 3 in our party and we sat in a booth for dinner. We ordered the chorizo queso as an appetizer and it was so delicious, high quality cheese and the perfect portion for sharing. We also ordered different cocktails (margarita, old fashioned etc) again all tasty. For dinner we had their smash burgers which were very filling and had wonderful toppings. One in the party had the Cory sandwich which is light but lots of flavor with the freshest avocado. After dinner we decided to move to the bar for a dessert cocktail - espresso martinis were great and the apple mimosa was so refreshing. Our server was great, the bartender was so much fun. On the pricier side but not by much. I was just not fond of the fries. They were super deep fried and I love my fries, so if they came out with a 'not so fried' fry this would be 5 stars. The waitress even asked if the game we wanted to watch was on because the TVs were playing various games, which was thoughtful. Not very attentive to customers and staff feel they can skim extra tips off the charges (cash), before any tip was even given. We don't save to go out just to be forced to pay a restaurant's staff wages, because of an atrocious (and unquestioned) employment payment system, or money-grubbing owners who pay their staff nothing. Steal extra from us, charge an extra fee to use a credit/debit card, charge for extra dressing etc. or for literally any other reason and it get's removed from your staff's tip. We're not staff and certainly not the employer and not playing your rigged game - Train and educate your staff, especially on basic mathematics because ownership is obviously not be paying attention and skimming extra from customers themselves. read more

Had enough time to grab a salad before heading off to a client and this was convenient. I was greeted by friendly staff. I ordered the Cobb salad without chicken and bacon and asked if I could substitute the seitan (veggie meat). I was told of course. What I wasn't told was the my $20 salad was now going to cost $30, which for me is a no-go if I had known. I asked the waitress about it and she explained that even though I didn't have the chicken and bacon, I was still charged for the "add-on". Then I saw I was charged for using my credit card. So for an unassuming Cobb salad, it cost me $40 for lunch after tax and tip. Needless to say, I won't be returning; too rich for my wallet. read more

We were in the area, visiting from RI, and decided to have dinner here based on two considerations: my son wanted a really good burger and I wanted a place with a slightly more upscale (non burger-joint) vibe. This place worked out very well for both of us in this regard. My cosmo was properly made and really good. My kid really liked his mocktail. The food was quite good - interesting and unique without being pretentious; it also tasted great. I did notice I was charged back for the fee associated with the use of a credit card as payment. This is increasingly common among businesses. They no longer want to assume the cost of *your convenience* when it comes to payment. I don't like it. Many people don't. I personally think it has a chilling effect on repeat business. If you are going to adopt this practice as part of your business model you definitely should provide an excellent product, one so consistently good that people want to have it again. Otherwise they might develop some resentment. I will be checking my card statement against the receipt, because when transaction fees are slipped into my bill like this it undermines my trust as a customer. read more

I'll start out by saying I've tried to like/recommend this place but every time it just seems to bite me in the back. First time going was when it was fairly new (open maybe 5 months by this time) arrived at 8:10 pm on a Monday. I'd called earlier to make sure the kitchen was still open because it was late but I was reassured by the woman on the phone their kitchen doesn't close til 9. We arrived, bar was semi busy and only one other table, place was alright, messy, bit dirty but I figured they might've had a busy rush. We were sat at the only clean table and greeted by our server, she took our drink orders and returned about 10 minutes later with them. As we were ready to order our food, she had told us that they switched over to their late night game day menu (even though at this point it was 8:30) and we would have to choose something off this menu instead. Having nothing we truly came there for, we went out on a whim and ordered their baked wings and empanadas. Now the empanadas were OK- not much flavor and can be considered excessively oily, but edible. The star of the show (and this review) are the wings. The Jamaican jerk are the perfect amount of spice and heat, one of my favorites in Albany for sure. The Buffalo honey garlic are very delicious as well, sweet kick to a classic sauce. Now the catch- can you get them. On 4 separate occasions, I've called, driven, or recommended this place in order to get more wings and they were closed or not taking orders. Even if posted hours and online says otherwise. It is quite frustrating having a business say they are open, craving their delicious wings, then to have your day ruined when you find out their kitchen is closed randomly on a Sunday at 6pm. I believe they are just a small business that opens/closes when they want, which is totally fine. Be sure to call ahead, just know even that won't guarantee.
