I've been going to Maria for years! I stumbled upon her facial and eyebrow services when she was in Rancho Murieta. I live in Elk Grove, so Rancho Murieta is already a drive for me, but once I got my first facial from Maria, I was hooked! I'd drive to any location she's at, because she's just that good! What sets her apart from other Estheticians, is her deep understanding of skin and her personal skin philosophy. What can I say- MARIA is the BEST! I've been loyally going to Maria for facials and waxes for over 5 years now. It is an amazing experience every time! Finding a good esthetician was hard to find especially because I have sensitive skin, but I couldn't ask for anything more with Maria. I was so pleased because my skin had drastically improved! Estilo opened about seven to eight months ago at the corner of Fair Oaks Blvd and Sunrise Blvd (near the river raft place). My husband, who was working for river rats at the time (summer) came home and was telling me about how the building was coming and how nice the owner was (she was starting her own salon and had been cutting hair for 30 years +) and how I should go there when it opened. Well, I never got there, until now about 8 moths later and man am I sorry I waited!!! I did not have a good experience at my last hair appointment at a new salon so I've been determined to find a really good place. On a whim I decided to drive by Estilo early this afternoon and just see if I could make an appointment (hoping but not really counting on being able to get a hair cut today) and check the place out. Initial impressions when I arrived: -Easy to get to from the road and easy to see (it's cute little stand alone building with black awnings and a deep olive green paint) -Easy parking close to the building -Airy and open building with great windows and the styling stations in front so you can look out while getting styled. -Styling stations on one side, spacious display area of Aveda products on the other by the waiting area -Waxing/beauty treatment room in the back corner -Cheerful staff and a happy greeting when you walk in (important in my opinion). -Salon is not too big but also not too small, just the right size where you an have conversations solo or join in to group conversations. -Close to old town Fair Oaks so the spouse/kids could wander there and be entertained while you're getting pampered. Customer Service: Walking in I was greeted immediately. When I asked if they had availability this weekend the receptionist checked the computer, checked the paper schedule for the stylist, and when it wasn't clear/looking likely went over asked the stylist, and she fit me for a time later in the afternoon (yay!) But wait, it got better. Style Experience: To be completely honest I think this has been my best hair styling experience ever. After walking back I was offered a drink, and the stylist let me know that from there we would do a consultation, then shampoo, then the cut, I thought that was really great communication right off the bat (no weird "what's next" moments). The consultation was awesome, the stylist didn't have any attitude or preconceptions. I explained I wanted something short, that was pretty easy to manage and would still look professional. Bonus round of awesome, I didn't get one "are you sure, your hair is so long I don't want to cut it" comment! I heart stylists that don't second guess the short 'do request! From there she sketched out really clearly what she was thinking would work for my needs and my face and why. She also explained that bangs might be good, but that we would see how the rest of the cut came together (flexible in design and realist, I like it). From there is was to the shampoo station- really nice and gentle and no over spray. Then she started styling- she was fast and gentle and maintained a good dialog of what she was doing and why (different types of layering vs. others etc). What really stood out was that she was explaining tips and techniques on different ways to style my new hair style and was demonstrating! That was such a relief, at no time did I feel like I couldn't ask questions or that I would look ignorant if I did ask a question. Paying: I bought some product and the stylist continued to explain different ways to use it and I felt no pressure to buy a boatload of stuff. After ringing up the product separately the stylist gave me her price and it was really reasonable- then for tip she was really honest and I felt no pressure (so awesome). She also scheduled me in for another appointment in 6 weeks right there so that cuts out one follow up step and I appreciate that. Take aways: I love my hair cut, it's different yet classy and I am confident (thanks to the stylist) that I know how to keep it looking good in a variety of ways. I really like the salon, it was clean, inviting and pleasant place to be for the people and the building. I'm not the only happy customer, they were busy (but not hectic, there's an important distinction) both times I was there which I think is a great sign. Stylists were great. The owner was also working there and she was witty and charming. My stylist was sweet, confident, and really knew her stuff ((her name is Firouzeh (fee-roo-ze)). Price was shockingly good. About $20-35 cheaper than other salons I have been to for this quality of cut. And that was just normal pricing, no specials or discounts. I would (and am going to) recommend this salon to friends. read more

I have been looking for a salon for a while and found Estilo on YELP....Got my hair cut Tuesday and then got it colored on Thursday. Love love love this place!! Dena did my hair and she is fabulous!! She knew the exact way I wanted my hair cut and she knew the PERFECT color for my skin tone. Walking in I was immediately greeted by Dena and Britney (the receptionist) and the salon is beautiful and very comfortable. There are a lot of open windows that show plenty of natural light, which is great to see the color. Dena walked me thru what her ideas were and she gives an amazing scalp masage with oils. The shampoo process is amazing as well...very relaxing and their products feel and smell great! I have found my hair salon!! Already getting tons of compliments on my hair!! I LOVE MY HAIR! Stylist Desiree was able to take haggard, over bleached and over processed hair (complete with dark brown and grey outgrowth) and create a soft, natural look with natural blondes and honey browns. Custom color and an easy sophisticated cut! I love my new look -- it is what I have wanted for years but could not find anyone who could master it. I'm relatively new to the Sacramento area and had yet to go to a salon or anything since I arrived in the area. After looking at reviews on Yelp for places that offer waxing and hair care services, I found Estilo and decided to make an appointment based on the reviews I had read. Thank you, fellow Yelpers! This place is fantastic! Originally, my appointment was made for Thursday, but my work schedule got changed at the last minute. I called the salon, hoping I'd be able to get in on Friday instead. The girl on the phone was very helpful and got me re-scheduled right away without any problem. I got to the salon and noticed how clean and well-stocked their product display is, as well as how clean the rest of the salon is. The girls at the desk instantly greeted me with friendly smiles. One was the front desk assistant and the other was Eva, the aesthetician. Eva was very easy to talk to. She took me right back to the waxing room and started asking me a few questions about what I was wanting to do. I explained to her that I had never had any waxing done before and she got even more upbeat and excited. I absolutely love the passion she shows for what she does. It's great to be in the hands of someone who really loves their job...that's a real expert in my eyes. She shaped my eyebrows and thinned them out just a little bit. The process was quick and a lot less painful than I was expecting. I am very pleased with her work and will definitely be back for more. My hair appointment was with Kaci (sorry if I misspelled it). Kaci was super sweet and did exactly what I was wanting. It was a basic trim with a little bit of styling and shaping, but she did a great job on my hair (which was in dire need of a trim). Next time, I will definitely get some highlights. Overall, I had a wonderful experience here today. Disappointed! This was a first time visit to Estilo. I was greeted warmly by Desiree and asked questions about the process I was undergoing to transition to my natural hair color. She implied that there was a better way to transition. I purchased a shampoo and conditioner and left. Because I liked the feel of the salon and what I heard from Desiree I decided to schedule an appointment. I called back later that day, left a voicemail and received no call back. The next day I called again, spoke to Desiree and she said she would call me back. I received no call. In my opinion this shows a lack of courtesy and professionalism. read more

Casey (sorry if I misspelled), gave me exactly what I asked for, was really easy to talk to, and super efficient - washed, cut, dried and styled in 1 hour. I have tried this salon 3 times with disappointing results each time. The stylist would not listen to me and instead forced her own ill conceived ideas on my hair..... I ended up with a terrible cut each time. In fact when I did get it cut from a different salon, not only were the layers straggly, but the base cut was grossly uneven. The employees are pretentious and have quite a few opinions about customers once they have left the salon. Salon just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.... I have found a much better place right in Fair Oaks. read more

Review for their esthetician EVA only! I haven't actually tried this salon for any of their other services other than esthetician services from Eva so I just wanted to throw that out there first. Second, I followed Eva from when she was working over at the Benefit brow in Arden Fair mall. When I found out she was leaving Arden I knew I had to follow Eva to whichever salon she was heading to next! I made the mistake of letting some of the other girls at the benefit brow bar do my brows a few times when I was desperate because I had forgotten to check to make sure Eva was working. THis is one of my biggest brow regrets! Every time Eva would even out my eyebrows it would get ruined by another esthetician all because I didn't make an appointment ahead of time with Eva and ended up desperate for someone else to do it. NEVER AGAIN! I ONLY let Eva do my brows now and I've never been happier with them! Eva is friendly, professional, a great listener (honestly I feel like she's my 20-30min therapist sometimes), and she truly cares about the satisfaction of her clients! I have no qualms about driving out to fair oaks to see her! ESPECIALLY since she is so accommodating with my schedule! For example, due to my work schedule and how far away I am, I'm not always able to make it out there before the salon closes but Eva is still willing to stay back and keep the shop open for me just so I can come in. Is that sweet or what? She is top notch in my book! Definitely worth coming in for an appointment! Also, I found out today that she is still honoring birthday brows (same as free eyebrow waxing service on your bday offered at Benefit) and she's going to start doing facials soon! Both my husband and I go to Dena. She gives great hair cuts for both men and women. She touched up my roots, the color matched perfect and she didn't do the original coloring. Plus she's very personable. They use Aveda products. This is a very clean and comfortable salon with reasonable pricing. I have confidence in Dena and this salon. My first time here Alyssa highlighted my hair. I brought with me the formula the salon in another city used that I loved. Alyssa did a great job with the color though my highlights were not as fine as I like. The second time there, Alyssa painted my hair with a solution before doing the highlights. When I asked here what she was doing she said she was going to make my highlights "POP". I was shocked, dismayed and very sad when the towel was removed and my hair was red. She said when my hair was dry it wouldn't be red. But it was. A very golden blond color which is a red. I hate it. I was so unhappy. Especially since we had talked about how I don't like leaving with a different hair color every time I have highlights. Reason for bringing in the formula. I went back to see Desiree who toned down the golden red. She was/is very accommodating and I trust her. She is very customer oriented. I am anxious to see her again and to get my hair back to rights. I recommend booking with Desiree. I don't know the others there and have not seen their work, but I have seen Desiree's work. read more

I come here for waxing services with Eva. She is the best in the Sacramento area. I always get a Brazilian and she seems to be the only person I've run into that takes her time and gets every hair. I've tried European wax center several times and they were not able to get the job done. She uses the blue wax mostly, and sometimes regular wax to get the smaller hairs. Eva makes sure you are comfortable and listens to your needs. She's also great at eyebrows. She will work with your schedule, especially if you're desperate. I see her every 3 weeks. read more

When I found out Bree had left Willow Salon in Gold River I was devastated. Nobody bothered to tell me she was just up the street and I had no clue what to do but needed a haircut badly and Willow booked me even though they really didn't have an avialable stylist. 4 people worked on my hair over 2.5 hours! A quick google search brought me back to Bree at Estilo. Thank God! I love the look of the shop and the ease of appt. making. I have naturally curly, coarse hair and Bree with her Aveda products works magic THAT LASTS! You don't walk out with a cut/color you cannot maintain on your own. No over-selling or excessive talking. I have been happily going to Estilo Salon & Spa since my hairstylist Dena (who has been doing my hair for several years) moved there from another Aveda Salon. When I walked in for the first time I was so pleased to find a modern, comfortable and well designed salon. The stylists and staff are pleasant, they are all well informed on the product and their skills are top notch. The salon has an upbeat cheery feeling from the time you walk in to the time you walk out. My hairstylist Dena always has a smile on her face and she is full of useful information or recommendations. She will even squeeze me procrastinating husband in for a cut, even when he has put off getting a haircut until the very last minute! Dena always styles my hair exactly how I want it and better, plus the salon is a relaxing place to enjoy being pampered. I can't say enough good things about this salon or about Dena. I drive by this place everyday on the way to work. I was attracted to cute exterior of this place. I wanted to get a facial before my anniversary so I thought, why not here. So I tried to make an appointment for for a facial. Called last week the receptionist said "oh we are all booked." I asked her if there is anyway there can be an accommodation made since I work 9-6 every day of the week and (they're time of operation are all over the place.) She then said "no but I'll try to fit you in before your anniversary." Week went by and no call. I was disappointed, but I did want to get a facial there anyway so I tried the following week. I called all day Monday no one picked up. I left a message hoping they would get back to me. Then again I called back, this time I believe the supervisor picked up. First of all she may need to learn some phone etiquette. When she picked up the phone I was not greeted. I had to ask them if I was calling the salon. The lady bluntly said "oh you must have not heard me." Basically blaming me for my bad hearing. Anyway I told her about the situation. She basically said that she will give call me back. I was already fed up with them and told them that this happened before and I'll go somewhere else. This was supposed to be a test run before I made a potential $500 gift purchase for my mother. I was a potential customer that was willing to pay, but as far as I'm concerned. I'm drive to work I will no longer waist a minute of mine. read more

I moved to Sacramento from the Bay Area five years ago. I tried several hair salons ( even those voted Best in Sacramento) and was very disappointed in either the service or talent or both everywhere I went. Finally I found Bri and Desiree at Estilo Salon! They are both excellent hairdressers and colorists. Bri is the only hairdresser in five years and thousands of dollars that puts in just the right amount of highlights without making me too blond and she has chosen the perfect color for my hair. She gives a beautifully crafted cut that lasts and makes my long hair look full, healthy and beautiful even on "wash and wear days. " Besides doing great hair and using natural products the customer service cannot be beat. read more
