I chose The Cleaning Authority because they actually send a representative to your home to give you firm pricing structure. The rep does a complete walk-through so there are no surprises when the cleaners arrive. TCA also has a client portal so you can see upcoming cleaning, and pay for cleaning right there on line. That is a huge convenience. TCA sent Rosy and Wendy to my home for my initial Deep Cleaning of my bathroom and kitchen yesterday. They did an exceptional job! Thorough, professional, and they had a lot to clean. I have my 2nd Deep Cleaning scheduled for next Monday, and have requested this same duo. The crew had paperwork that defined exactly what they were to do, and a supervisor came out to check that everything was done to my satisfaction. There's a bit of a learning curve in any new relationship, and I will have to be a bit more involved to make sure that they know tricky things about my home. (It took a while to dry out the gas stove ignitors after the intense cleaning that Rosy did! But, all is well now, my stove is so clean I am afraid to use it, and Rosy knows more about gas stoves than she did before!) Overall, they did a fantastic job! We used to use TCA a few years ago and were pleased. I hired them 6 weeks ago and they commented my house already looked clean. My teams had a pretty easy job. I'm a minimalist. I hate knick knacks. I'm a tidy freak. But I expect my house to be nearly spotless when it's professionally cleaned. First clean was good. Second was so so. Found evidence of quick vacuuming and no mopping. I called to say I expect better next time. They assured me they'd send a top team. Third clean was bad. Spots with untouched dust. Bathroom tiles still speckled with toothpaste. And the floors everywhere still had many bits of stuff that should have been vacuumed, and clearly mopping wasn't done. I called, they sent an inspector. I told her we were done and she tried very hard to get us to give them 1 more chance and they'd wow us. Ha! The second team (with specific instructions to vacuum and mop) was in my house for 5 minutes! Can you vacuum and mop 2,000 sq ft in 5 minutes? From what I can tell, they vacuumed a few small places. That's it. I used a wet swiffer immediately upon arriving home. Didn't even let the dog out of his crate. These pads (missing one) are just from the main level. Do not bother hiring The Cleaning Authority unless you don't require a properly cleaned house. *I give 2 stars because some of the areas they cleaned were excellent. But overall I'd say 3 stars for the cleaning, 1 for professionalism, so 2 averaged. read more

Sadly I have to agree with the rest of the reviews on this site. We signed up and were supposed to get the 2 initial deep cleans. The first was okay, but I would later go back and realize they didn't do many of the things they were supposed to. On the second deep clean they were supposed to come in the afternoon. I was at home and it was already 3:30pm when I took the dog for a walk. When I returned the crew was there but I don't know what time they arrived. After 3:30 though. I went in the basement with my dog and at about 4:26 someone yelled down the stairs, "Have a good weekend!" By the time I walked upstairs everyone was outside. I started to look around the house since I was surprised how quickly they had come and gone for what was supposed to be an initial "deep clean."   They essentially did nothing that day. I had to make a few calls and email pics I took of my filthy house, but I was eventually refunded my money. I decided since I got refunded I would leave it at that. But since I keep getting cleaning authority emails even after I unsubscribed and asked to be removed from the mailing list - I thought I would go ahead and review. The scary thing is that these people are given a great deal of trust to be in your home when you are not there. If you are paying them to do a job and they are consciously not doing it then they are stealing from you. Hard earned money. It makes me think those same people should certainly not be trusted to be home alone with your possessions. read more

I had such high hopes for this service but have been left sorely disappointed. I scheduled an estimate online and Karen came out and did a walk-through of the house with me. She explained how this service works and everything sounded great. I signed up on the spot scheduling two appointments 2 weeks apart. My first appointment was for today and my second was for 2 weeks later. I specifically requested that the service be completed today before noon since I had to go to work in the afternoon. By 10:15 am this morning no one had shown up. I gave them a call and was told no one was coming until noon. I spoke with Theresa and she apologized for the error and offered to reschedule. Since I didn't have any available days in the coming week I said that the appointment that we have on the books for 2 weeks from now can be the start date. Later in the afternoon I get a phone call from Theresa telling me that no one could come and clean my house on the 21st because they were overbooked. I had scheduled both of these appointments about 3 weeks ago and both were confirmed by Karen. I went ahead and cancelled my contract and asked for a refund, since I had pre paid for the services which makes this whole fiasco of an experience sting even more. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before allowing this group in my home. I had been using the service since December 2017 every two weeks without any incident. Work was always commendable. My most recent visit, I noticed that some personal items and cash were missing from my bedroom. I emailed to report this with the statement that I couldn't prove anything but that I was concerned, changed my security code, and no longer wanted to have the last team back in my home. I received a prompt call from Karen who assured me that the most recent team had been in my home many times without any issues. I agreed, but reiterated that my biggest concern was the missing items that I couldn't prove were taken by her team but it all happened the same day my security cameras accidentally stopped working. This was on Wednesday, 4/11 and all images from my system were functioning the day before and the day after. I did not accuse her team of dismantling my alarm system, but Karen proceeded to tell me her team wouldn't know how to do that and that is was very unlikely they would take anything. While I commend her for sticking up for her team, the real issue to be resolved was guaranteeing that the team would not be placed in my home again. Karen proceeded to question whether anyone else was in the house and whether my 6 and 9 year old boys could have done it. WRONG ANSWER! A simple, sorry for the loss but how can we resolve the issue would have gone a long way. Since that wasn't the tone or response I received, I demanded that my agreement be cancelled. Karen simply responded "OK" I wished the conversation ended there, but her condescending tone sent me over the edge. I work at a law firm and was advised by attorneys that if I couldn't prove it, I couldn't do much about it - which I stated in my initial email asking who I could speak with to resolve the issue. I feel violated by the loss, but am absolutely livid by the "professional" response. There are 4 people in this world with the access code to my home: Me (I was at work), my husband (he was at work), my 2 boys (they were at school), and the cleaning team. read more

I'm feeling very icky from this company and have only had the initial consultation. I asked for an initial consultation and Karen came out and we talked about a plan for our home (we're moving soon and I wanted to clean where we are now) but I didn't commit to anything. I needed some time to run things by my partner and figure out exactly what we wanted to do. They sent an email about being able to come today which I didn't respond to because I didn't have time to get to it but since they asked for confirmation and a deposit which I didn't give, I didn't think anything of it. Later today a crew just showed up at my door! I called the company to ask what was going on since I hadn't paid, signed, or committed to anything. They asked if a crew was at my door (yes they were), and I responded how I never committed to anything and it felt so gross having to send the workers home and I'm so mad at the company for wasting their time and energy. I just lucked up I guess. My team of ladies are the best. Team #15 Veronica and Maribel are efficient, hard working and always on time. I've had the same team for over 8 years. One thing I like is the awards program where you gain points toward free cleanings. I've used that twice already!!!! I do wish the ladies were able to clean the high loft in my foyer. The cleaning Authority is a big name but every location owned by individuals. And those owner don't follow the rules and regulations of company and don't care about company name is going down. About 3 Months ago Cleaning Authority Columbia MD office assistant manager came and give an estimate. Then every 2 week cleaning start. Guees what when we get use to for cleaning, Manager/Owner raised my cost of service $160 to $ 219. Reason crew are taking more time what they spouse to take! Wow.....I said that's .not my fault. She send me termination letter. I wish I would read reviews. I been compromising there work. A lot of things they do what they told you or what in booklet. A small example they will clean kitchen cabinets till crew height. If they are not tall enough they leave rest dirty because they can't reach I Never ever recommend The Cleaning Authority Columbia office to clean your home. I hope my review will helpful. read more

The Cleaning Authority has cleaned my home several times. The ladies that cleaned my home each time were very friendly and professional. However, the last time that I needed cleaning services in my home (last month), I called twice to try to schedule a cleaning. After leaving two messages with someone in the morning asking for a call me back to let me know if there were any openings, I'm assuming it was a manager called me back after 4 pm. It was disappointing but also led to my finding another maid service company that did and excellent job and I have decided I will use in the future. read more

I couldn't be happier with Maria and Rose, the women who do the work, too! What is wrong with the management? I contracted them to clean much of my home, the first two cleanings were priced high (but, that's okay as they had to clean everything fully). However, after the cleaning, I had to call them back to re-clean. Even the owner/management (Karen Chandler) came to my home. It was explained to me that they don't clean anything over their head-height (they are not allowed to step on a small ladder or step-stool) They did a below-average job. After they returned, the supervisors were involved and things went much better for several weeks. Afterwards, the price normalized unless I added rooms (I'm fine with that too). Everything was going well for several cleanings, then I got a call from the owner/management. She advised me that my home was underpriced and she needed to raise the prices. Not just a little, it went from $125 to $180 per cleaning. About a 30% raise in price. Karen advised she was not making any money on my house. Even thought her assistant manager and she had been at my home weeks before. I asked Karen who was her supervisor and she responded that she does not report to anyone. No where to go with further complaints. They praise their position as "Satisfaction Guaranteed" . I think not. The staff themselves are fine, supervisors were great. Management, a total joke to this company. I am a firm believer of "If you don't take care of your customers... someone else will" I will never recommend them, and I believe you should not use them either. I don't trust them as a business. Honestly if I'd checked the reviews here first, after reading these, I probably wouldn't have went with them either. SO VERY glad I didn't ! I'm beyond pleased with the service that I've received. From the initial walk through to the cleaning that has taken place. Everything that was promised to be done, was done. And then some! I even saw the manager come to my house ( from my desk at work through my cameras) in the middle of the cleaning to inspect their work! I signed up for an initial cleaning and payed 50% up front. I was told the time would be 12PM for the cleaning and would take 2 hours. 12:30PM no one showed up so I called. They said the time was 2:00PM which I knew was incorrect because I had written it down AND cancelled another appointment. At 2:45 they still did not show up so I called again. They were very apologetic but I cancelled and received a refund. I had heard they were unreliable but tried them anyway since I've seen the Clean Authority car in my neighborhood and I received a coupon in the mail. Found out later you can't use the coupon unless you sign up for regular cleanings. What a waste of my time. read more

Awful awful awful. My husband contracted this company to clean our home biweekly and I decided to give them a chance despite their mostly bad reviews online. Sure enough after two visits we had jewelry go missing worth upwards of 1k. We have filed a police report and since they are closed on weekends haven't had a chance to speak with anyone from the company yet but are hoping for cooperation in resolving the issue. I've used the Cleaning Authority for a few years. I think there have been two instances of things broken during that time and both times, they brought it to my attention and paid for the repairs. I am sure I would have caused much more damage had I been cleaning all those times. They also are very accommodating on requested days/times, with very few deviations. There was a time when I was receiving different teams each clean, but I contacted Karen and requested to keep Team 33 and she accommodated. I am not super crazy about the predetermined rotations, as I'd prefer certain rooms receive that attention each clean, but I knew about this structure when I signed up. We have had a lot of turnover in our cleaning team but recently we have had a really good team- Maria and Natalia. They do an excellent job. They arrive on time and work efficiently. We have used the cleaning authority for several years. On a positive note, they are better than those we had before in many ways. Unfortunately, I wish they were more consistent. When we don't have the same people each time we find that things are not done as they should be. Each place in the home has a big clean periodically and when this happens I think that the other areas that do not have the big clean should be done the same by anyone that comes in. But that doesn't happen. We can have a pair come in and clean the "big" area beautifully and the other areas look just as good. Then another time a different team comes in and the "big" area is done well, but it looks like the others were an after thought and not done well. A bit of consistency would be a big help. Despite the above. the Cleaning Authority has always responded to requests for extra cleans, change of personnel, etc. when requested. The office personnel are very helpful and always very nice. read more
