First time coming here and everything was phenomenal. The service was fantastic and the food even better. The staff were all so friendly it made for a great experience. The place gives off a really next vibe. All the food is made in house and you can tell it's fresh. The Chef goes out of her way to make sure you get an amazing dish every time. They have multiple vegetarian and vegan options so that was very nice to see. Fallbrook is moving on up with it's food game! The Coal Bunker is one of four restaurants that have opened up within the year. I was really really excited when I noticed renovations being done on the old Mexican restaurant building. I've been waiting for their debut! Coal Bunker is one of the many new restaurants that opened up their doors during the Corona virus. They've already got a good social media standing and based off of their Yelp reviews are doing great! I highly recommend you follow them on Instagram. They just recently posted a delicious video of them making garlic and herb fused butter! I've been keeping a close eye on their menu since it's ever changing with new goodies. So when I saw that they had something for both myself (a vegetarian) and Nick to chow down on I jumped at the opportunity. Driving home with the food was very difficult because it smelled absolutely incredible. I had their Texas toast grilled cheese and their side of mac and cheese. Their mac is absolutely amazing!! I think they use a smoked cheese and it really hits well. The Texas toast grilled cheese was cheesy deliciousness! We will be back and we're excited to experience the whole restaurant when the virus has calmed down. read more

The chicken sandwich they have is the best thing ever!! And the Mac n cheese is sooo good too. The grilled cheese is also a great option especially if your bringing kiddos since they don't have a kids menu. Whenever I get my food I could never finish it all which is a plus because then I have left overs! All in all I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what went down.... Walked in guy at the bar didn't even acknowledge us, we stood there for a few minutes then asked if we should seat ourselves (despite there being a sign saying wait to be seated), in a bit of a mumble he said yes. So we walked up to an open table. A few min later a lady came up to us asked if we knew how to use the digital menu, we did, so said we were fine. Waters came, then She asked if we wanted anything to drink, my friend said iced tea, she said no tea. Then we got to the ordering, mind you nothing was said to us prior to looking at the menu. I am very limited on what I can eat, so I was going to order the wings. My friend ordered the portobello sandwich but the server said they were out, so while she was picking something else, I ordered wings. Only to be told they were out of all chicken. So basically 90% of their menu. We ended up ordering a burger and tenders (cause she thought they might have those) or Mac n cheese as a back up. Mind you we got there a little bit before 7. Two other tables came and left while we waited for our food. Finally 45min later we asked the guy at the bar if our food was coming. 15 min later it finally arrived. Joking we asked if we should order dessert then (cause of how long it took) and SHOCKING they were out...! I got 3 small tenders for $12, no chips, fries or any garnish, she didn't even offer me a dipping sauce only told me that she was bringing ranch with them. Not worth it, but she did say they were priced that way cause they are organic. When all is said and done they charged us full price for everything barely even an apology for how long it took, we spent two hours there and will not be going back!! I thought I'd try out The Coal Bunker for my weekly dinner with my dad. We walked in and the place was so cute. I absolutely loved the decor. I immediately noticed the most delicious aromas coming from the kitchen and couldn't wait to sit down and order! My dad got the Chicken sandwich and I had the Shepherds pie. Both were outstanding. We enjoyed every bite. My dad's sandwich so delicious I will be trying that next time! The Shepherds pie was so flavorful and fresh, one of the best I've ever had. I also tried the Pumpkin creme brûlée because I can't ever pass up a creme brûlée. It was simply heavenly! Such a great new spot in Fallbrook I'm so happy to have a new favorite place in town. Awesome ambiance - friendly service and good food. Creative menu - however - my opinion.. If I feel like a great burger - I want fries or opinion rings - not a potato pancake to go with the burger! And if I my only choice is the potato pancake I'm gonna want Ketchup! Not everything has to be original or homemade! Please have ketchup for your guests and maybe pair items together so the pork chop doesn't look so lonely on the plate! People want value and sides are very inexpensive. The very talented chef should feel the challenge to feed us a complete meal! I'll continue to support this establishment because it is tasty and the service is good and friendly!! Ate here for the first time yesterday. I had the Reuben, my husband had the Pastrami. Each came with a side house salad loaded with feta, tiny tomatoes, a variety of lettuces and the perfect amount of dressing. My sandwich was hot and loaded with all the elements of a Great Reuben - plenty of thickly sliced corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, and a very tasty sauce all on some of the best rye bread ever. The Pastrami was the same - lots of thickly sliced meat with plenty of goodness surrounding it. The server kindly substituted rye bread for the standard Kaiser roll. All in all, this was a great meal with only one small glitch. Service was seriously slow. Not sure why because there were several empty tables at all times, so maybe it was a staffing problem. No matter, we'll be back because the food was that good. read more

Great menu and friendly staff. I had the bunker burger and my wife had the Mediterranean and both were excellent. We started with the pretzel which came with German spicy honey mustard and was great. As we finished our meal we were talking about how we wished they had dessert and what we were going to order next time. Our waitress came over and asked if we saved room for dessert. Surprise! Second time ordering from here. The food is really good. The first time we ordered we got the macaroni and cheese and potato cakes. This time my husband and I both got the "burger special" and a side of the coleslaw. The staff was very nice over the phone and in person. The reason I am giving 4 stars is because the burger special is $15.... with no side!! Perhaps it's my fault for assuming it came with fries or something. But that is a bit steep in my opinion. The menu is much larger now than before. Food has been a nice variety of choices and that has really took a turn for the better. They still desperately need qualified wait staff that can handle more than 2 tables. They are super nice just understaffed. That is why we went just before 5:00 to beat the "rush".
