I visited the shop twice, just to give them another chance & It's unfortunate to write this review, but after all the hype and 4-5 stars it has..it wasn't worth it. The location itself, is in a corner and the interior decor, is modern. Shop is SUPER clean! They also have some tables just in case you want to eat outside. It's definitely pricey, so it's not your typical coffee shop. Some of the menu items doesn't have the price referenced either which is bothersome. Service- horrible, it took 27 mins to get my food and 15 mins to get my coffee. They had enough staff but it seems like they don't know what they're doing in the kitchen. A group of 6 people came in after me and got served first, not sure why but they did. Then i asked the cashier when I would be getting my coffee and she said she was working on it now. I told her I was going to sit outside, and just gave a scared look. I asked her what would make her life easier, should I stay? Or should I sit down and have her run the food when it's done. She said if I could wait in the restaurant it would be best. I told her no problem. So I waited. The entire staff looked miserable and overwhelmed, granted it was at 10am so maybe it's their peak time. The second time I went, which was today, an elderly man arrived shortly after and asked for a coffee.. and literally what seemed to be 30mins in passing the older gentleman was still not served. He then approached one of the servers following up on his coffee. We got our lattes pretty quickly after ordering. But I was extremely concerned when the server went over my infant baby with hot coffee.... I used to serve for 10years and etiquete teaches you to go around the person and deliver the food/drink. You should NEVER go over/on top of a customer. What would've happened if she mistakenly tripped & spilled the hot coffee over my baby? There was also another man who placed an order and 24 mins passed and the didn't have his coffee nor food yet. The gentleman got up and said something after some wait time. He seemed pretty calm about it. One of girls came out from the kitchen and said we're so sorry it looks like your order was cleared and never prepared, we're going to refund you. Then the same server comes to me and says we're sorry we forgot about your order, it's coming now. Like seriously? Like okay maybe if it happens once a day it's normal.. but three times within the hour? Somethings wrong. Coffee- excellent, both times I visited it wasn't burnt and it wasn't left over coffee in a heated pot. It was FRESH. Food- disappointing... the ham, egg and cheese was made in a microwave(I physically saw them do it)...... the croissant was tiny, wasn't worth the $$$ I paid for it. If you're going to have expensive food, I would except to at least have the food made on counter top oven ... not microwaved to melt the cheese. The turkey panini was good, it was the sourdough bread what made it taste best. I believe the servers and kitchen staff should be re-trained and practice to smile more and be more welcoming. There's a blind spot in the corner so I'm not sure if they have an oven there.. but if not maybe it would be a good idea to get a small conventional oven.. this way they don't have to microwave food when preparing it for customers. Hipster meets farmhouse at The Coffeebox in Rahway! The setup of the place is nice. There are a variety of snacks and food to choose from. They cover the main beverage options found at a coffeehouse such as drip, latte, tea, matcha, pour over, etc. However, they do not offer any add in flavors, which was a big deal breaker for me. I enjoy a strong coffee with subtle flavor/sweetness by adding some vanilla or caramel. The staff was not super friendly and looked at me sideways when I asked if adding flavor was an option. Came here as a surprise for my friend's birthday, and the staff was very perceptive and they noticed the flowers and presents when we entered and immediately started playing and singing happy birthday while we were waiting in line, I've never seen somewhere do that spontaneously and it was an amazing way to start off our experience. I ordered a pour over coffee and one of their paninis, and was pleasantly surprised by both the size and quality of the sandwich as well as the salad that it came with. We got it to-go and sat outside, where there's a lovely communal tent with tables (all decorated to celebrate pride at the time). Definitely was a nice place to go for coffee and a bite, but the staff seem to be working 110% and were having a hard time matching orders to customers as several people chose to wait for their orders outside or just did not respond when they heard their order being announced. As a result, the ambient sound in the restaurant was quite loud and it felt a little too chaotic to sit down and have a casual café experience in, although I'm sure that our group of 10 people only made the issue worse. read more

They also have options for almond oat or soy milk if u prefer that also and they have cinnamon & nutmeg on the side to add to ur drinks if u like which I was in love with ! What a cute coffee shop! Located perfectly in downtown Rahway. We got a regular coffee and a cappuccino. Both were great. We also grabbed there vegan strawberry mini cheesecakes. They were similar to mini clouds of happiness and the crust was superb! They also have full meals for the hungry types. This coffee shop offers many different options for many different lifestyles. Vegan, gluten free, kosher, etc. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, they answer every question with care and a giant smile. Came to Rahway for work meetings and ran across this coffee shop on Yelp. The waffles looked amazing on the website so decided to go there for breakfast. Ordered the waffles which came out quickly. They were soggy and half cooked. I rarely send food back but this was inedible. The counter person was nice enough to say they'd redo the food which came out a little longer than the first order. I was hoping the longer wait time was because they were making the waffles extra crispy. Unfortunately, you can see by the pictures, it was the same soggy half cooked mess. Admittedly, I'm writing this while I'm still hangry and a little to work now. Pros of the cafe, great cafe latte with nice service. Take home is DO NOT order the waffles. Paid $20 with a $3 tip. Lesson learned, never tip until the food is actually served. Terrible experience. Hungry and late for work. Ugh! read more

Stopped here last Saturday afternoon. This shop is conveniently located right across the street from the Rahway train station. I occasionally patronize the original Plainfield location, which is closer to me. This one is more cramped inside, with limited seating, but there's several tables outside on the sidewalk. I had a plain, black iced coffee that was excellent. One of my friends had a hot cappuccino which looked beautiful. We didn't try any of the food, but they get a thumbs-up for the coffee. Unfortunately, I have to temper my rating for the ambiance, because on this day they had live music which drove us outside within seconds--two young guys, one on keyboard and another on electric guitar. They were awful. Loud, live electric music in a tiny space like this is inappropriate anyway, and these two should not be performing in public. read more

I am in Rahway once a year for an event, and this year the CB was the best part of my trip!(well, tied with Katz Deli!)... The coffee/espresso is sooooo good. I usually had 2 drinks in the morning, and then counted the minutes to get back mid day for another. I had an iced mocha here a couple of months ago and honestly was not that impressed but it definitely wasn't bad. I always said I'd come back and try their sandwiches or pastries and I did. I had a tuna cheddar panini on multigrain bread. This came with a side salad, I liked my sandwich meal a lot. My friend had their apple cinnamon maple scone?? Or something like that. We both really enjoyed our food. Two coffees, a panini, and scone came out to a total of about $24.. it is on the pricier side but they make their sandwiches fresh and pastries are baked in house they said. The space is nice, room for sitting, and a bathroom. Not bad at all, if I need to stop by for a quick eat in the area I'd definitely come back here. Delicious but the shop is SMOKY AS HELL! We live in Rahway and were excited to have another cozy coffee shop in the neighborhood. Unfortunately I couldn't go more than 3 times. The first time was the day after opening, and then a few months after that. I was here last week and I was disappointed to see there is still no VENT to suck out the smell of the food and smoke. Every time I come here I have to wash my entire body and my coat. I brought a guest last weekend and it was embarrassing because our eyes were burning from all the food being cooked. If you come here make sure you're not going anywhere after because you will smell like fried food / smoke. I hope you can add a vent so I can come back and enjoy your nice shop. read more
