Love the old house with it's porch and there espresso is wonderful. Im fussy about my double Americano and they made it perfect. I know how can you mess up an Americano? For me its the amount of water and it needs to be put in the cup first, so it doesn't scald the espresso creama. Yes, coffee industry snob. read more

Please don't get the green tea latte. It was so thick and syrupy I thought I could chew it. Handed it to my friends and they said it tasted like birthday cake/fish. Not really what I wanted. This Montrose coffee house is where it's at for a cozy comfortable place to get some of the best if not best coffee and service in town. They have access to wifi which is great if you need to get out of the house to get some work done and the space upstairs is great for group meetings over coffee and pastries or even breakfast burritos. Walking up to this old style house is a beautiful coffee house located in Montrose Colorado. It has an amazing garden and the interior decor is very well put together. They have pic for the local high school photography class. Wow do those kids have some talent. The wi-fi works great and this house stays quite busy. Which is under stand able with how welcoming it is. The coffee is also very good. They have a standard Med, dark, and decafe. The dark is what i found to of extremely high quality. The staff is friendly and are willing to engage in conversation. The reason I'm giving The Coffee Trader a 2 out of 5.... the way the staff is dressed. Tho they are friendly on of the worker looked like he hadn't showered in a week, he had dirty "skinny" pants on, un-groomed facial hair, and dirty dirty finger nails. His co-worker was just as bad....He had they "messed up" but like that on purpose, he was wearing a button up shirt with no under shirt and only the bottom 3 buttons were hooked. This was high lighted by the young mans chest hair protruding out.... I ordered my coffee and it was served in a paper cup even tho they have white ceramic cups to stay. I asked if i could have it to stay and was meet with attitude for the pubic hair wonder. The coffee was good enough that I'll be back but if the chest hair is out I will just turn and leave. read more

My husband & I were staying in Montrose for a few days.....The Coffee Trader is one place we LOVE to go. A super-friendly staff, wonderful coffee and the pastry was SO good. The old home that The Coffee Trader is in...well, it's so pretty. And the outdoor flower gardens are eye catching as well. We felt at home as soon as we found this place and always suggest it to our friends who may be passing through town. The owner should be very proud of the staff....we loved them! read more

How does it get any better when I go in maybe once a month for past year or so and they know me by name? There is a line of 8 people in front and I have to say in most places I'd back out and go somewhere else. 3 minutes maybe and they're good natured harrassing me. Coffee is good but the Mexican Hot Cocoa is my favorite. That along with the friendly banter...how can you beat it? You can't... best coffee place I've been to in U.S. including Hawaii. I visit Montrose several times a year. I stop by the Coffee Trader almost daily when I'm there. A good cup of Mountain Splendor, a sausage burrito and some wifi and I'm there for an hour. Phoung (sp?) has the funniest laugh this side of the Mississippi. It's impossible not to smile when you hear that guy crack up in the kitchen. And the old Sears catalog home is perfect for a coffee shop. read more
