I've been here twice, one time after it just opened and again this Friday. The food and drinks are always great: lots of fun cocktails to choose from and the food was great and came out hot. It can get a bit pricy but it's worth it. I was hoping that after being open after almost a year that would have added more to fill in the "coffin" aesthetic. The walls are still mostly bare except some gothic wallpaper. Hoping they add more. I do like that they have a garage door they open in the summer. The service is good but can be slow when it's busy. Parking is on the street for free if you can find it, or in a garage. read more

I was so stoked to come here! I drove 45 minutes out from Reading to Lancaster just to try this place. The vibes are cool, nothing crazy over the top though. My friends and I got there and no one sat us at a table, so we had to ask ourselves to sit down. It took about 20 minutes just to get drinks. The inside of the place was disgusting. Food all over the floor and tables, spray bottles left on tables. There were plenty of employees working (we counted 4-6 bartenders) and the service was just awful. I do hope to come again, but I hope it's better next time. Quicker seating, quicker service and a clean atmosphere would be great. read more

Arrived on a Saturday night with some friends and was able to get a table pretty quickly but that's about where the praise stops lol. After being seated, it took some time before we were acknowledged by our waitress and after ordering drinks we realized it had been about 20 mins and none of us received one besides one person who got a beer instead of a cocktail. When the drinks finally came the waitress apologized for the wait but that was only the beginning of the waiting for the evening. Took another 35 mins for appetizers to arrive and it was only 6 wings and an order of hummus. The wings were supposed to been spicy garlic Parmesan but didn't taste like garlic at all but they were cooked well. The hummus was supposed to have pomegranate but didn't taste like it did at all to the point where we wondered if it was left out by accident. Before ordering our main dishes, we were informed that they were "out of the Steak Frites, but it would be back in about a half an hour if we wanted to wait." We chose to wait as that was what we wanted but it was just a strange way to put it and it really wasn't worth it. The menu issues continued as our friends we were with were vegan and chose this place so everyone could have options but sadly the restaurant was out of the Hail Seitan dish leaving them with only one option, the spaghetti which they said the felafel combination with spaghetti sauce was strange. Both were good but not together and it was not what they really wanted. They need to figure out their supply chain issues or update the menus accordingly each day. When the steaks arrived they were cut already and the cook was uneven. Looks like they cooked it on one side, flipped it, measured the temp and realized it was already done so they just took it right off and cut it up which caused it to lose its heat almost immediately. What arrived was a cold steak with freshly fried fries that were hot. The slab of black garlic butter they put on the steak never melted because the steak was cold. All in all we were all pretty let down by the experience and decor inside the bar. A few spots had pentagram wall paper and that's about as far as the theme goes. When we left I said it felt like the establishment couldn't decide if they wanted to be a restaurant or a bar. The volume inside is also something that should be noted. There were several tables that were drunk and loud which doesn't really add to the ambiance in a positive way. Waitresses looked like they wanted to tell them to calm down but nobody ever said anything to them. I also found it funny that there are things on the drink menu that servers encourage people not to order like the hell shot or the drink that comes with a lil smokie on it. Feels weird to hear a server saying "it's terrible, don't order it." Perhaps stop stocking the ingredients to make drinks that servers encourage people not to order and focus on stocking the kitchen with ingredients to make the food that is advertised in a timely manner where it comes out hot. I would also argue consistency needs to be worked on as each time I ordered my drink it arrived with different garnishes on top. The first time it came with an orange slice and pineapple and the next time one piece of lime. Why the change? Same deal with other drinks at our table that arrived with dried fruit the second time but not the first. Overall I'd say this place looks cooler in pictures and has a lot to work on. From the pictures they post on social media they make it look much darker and more intimate than a college bar which is more what it felt like. The Coffin Bar was very good to us for my birthday and first time visiting! The place is (to me!) homey and cozy. Warm dark! The decor is not for everyone, of course. If you are put off or offended by Satanic imagery, do not come here. The apps my sister and niece had were a meal in themselves- delicious, huge portions ! My mocktail was great, as was the dessert. Service- Sam, especially- was friendly and enthusiastic! My one and only suggestion is that the smashburger available for lunch be on a different roll. The one that my burger was on was not up to quality standards for a special place like this. It was 6-to-a-pack-at-the-grocery-store, and was flimsy. Other than that, we had a great time! I didn't read the less favorable reviews, but let me just start out by saying that I'm an electrician and if you look me up you can see that everyone who has used me has rated me with five stars. What I know about is quality, customer service, and honestly how To meet and exceed expectations. The Coffin met and exceeded my expectations. First of all, let's start with the beer: I had two different imperial stouts and they were both distinct and absolutely delicious in their own ways. The "La vida en la muerta" was great. I got a little Cinnamon, a little dark chocolate. My favorite was "Affordable Love" - That is honestly a stout I would put up against almost any other. It comes in at a hearty 12%, but you can definitely get the chocolatey espresso flavor. * Apparently I started writing this review and never finished it. I think I was there almost a year ago, And I don't live in the area, so I haven't been back and therefore the details are definitely foggy at this point. LoL. So let me just add that I want to take the time to praise this bar/restaurant so I'm posting the review now. I can't say that I remember what I got for food, but despite having eaten already earlier, I just had to finish my food because it was so good! I love the atmosphere, I wish I could remember the name of my waitress because she was so nice and pleasant to deal with. She deserves her own praise. The food and beer is good. The wings are amazing. The music being played is horrible and loud and makes trying to enjoy dinner difficult. The server mentioned that people have been leaving because of the music. I can understand having a theme but loud death metal music doesn't work for a restaurant. My husband and I were super excited to try out this new spot. Given the name, it sounded super interesting. Upon entering, the hostess was super friendly and sat us immediately. Then we sat and sat ... we sat for about 8-10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Once our server came over we ordered drinks. I originally ordered the pomegranate mojito NA, but she said I could still add alcohol, which was fine BUT my $5 drink went to $15 and I didn't taste anything, which was disappointing. The drinks also seemingly took quite a bit given that most of the place had cleared out. We ordered the dip and egg rolls. Both came out barely warm. The portions were a good size. We also ordered the soup. The soup was honestly fantastic and we were surprised at how good it was. The tables were so close together that people could barely get in and out and I also felt like we could barely hold a conversation because people were on top of us and it was loud. Food is awesome and service is very friendly. My wife and I have gone a few times now and tried several items. The wings were okay, not my favorite. We got these carrots they had as an appetizer based off the servers recommendation and they were incredible. We've had the smash burger, PBLT (pork belly) and the Nashville hot eggrolls. read more

I wanted to love it.. as a goth I was super.. excited to try this restaurant I moved to Seattle and this place opened after I left Lancaster and I was bummed I couldn't come check it out but once I finally did I was so disappointed. I immediately told them I was trying to make a tiktok .. I review spooky restaurants around the world and i was trying to ask them if they had any drinks that have a aesthetic look or food that's shaped like coffins anything to put in my video and they literally had nothing.. literally so disappointed no pentagrams on the buns no fun deserts just regular food and tacky wall paper.. the potential to be amazing is here tho witch is why I went super medium on the review.. I believe if they made themed food to go with the aesthetic they could attract more people. Idk if being rude is part of the theme but my waiter was really rude and unhelpful. We were excited to try this place as it was listed as one of the participating bars on the Prince Street bar crawl. Loved the decor, plenty of good beer choices. The bartender ruined our experience and made us feel unwelcome. She complained the entire time we were there about it being busy and she was "just one person". Complained to the people coming in, and to anyone within earshot working with her. Not sure what she expected if it was a bar crawl. As someone who bartends occasionally myself, I would have welcomed the opportunity to be busy and earn some $. (It wasn't crowded at all at the time as there were open bar seats and tables.)Later on a new bartender came in and she was so much more welcoming and attentive, which was the only way we actually got served. Went to three other places on the crawl and we were welcomed and well taken care of. Maybe they shouldn't have participated in the crawl. read more

This is surely a kitschy atmosphere. Service was excellent. My pasta was very al dente. The flavor was good just a little chewy. My friend got the chicken salad sandwich.
