I have been going to The Colour Room for over a year. Julie is great! She has done the Japanese Straightening on my hair twice and I have had great results both times. She also cuts and colors my hair and she always does a great job. Julie is easy to talk to and fun, but doesn't force the conversation. It's been years since I did anything but a cut and style to my hair, so via a great recommendation by a mutual colleague, I entrusted Stevie to do something to enhance the deep brown color of my hair. I had no idea what to do with it, and after hearing a little about Stevie's extensive background in the industry, I told her that I trust her expertise to do what she felt best, keeping in mind that I didn't want a complete overhaul of my natural hair color--and she didn't steer me wrong! Approachably professional, she created more depth of color, complementing my shoulder-length hair. It's subtle, it's pretty, it's what I wanted without realizing it. Also, the Colour Room is a really convenient location-- just south of Lincoln/Addison. The space is comfortable, lovely, and clean. I really wanted their rolling side table/carts. Random, but true. Stevie herself is a fun gal, easy to chat with and who just KNOWS her stuff. You can tell in the way she is able to assess your expectations and the condition of your hair, and efficiently gathers the hair and applies color. The concept of contacting your hair stylist directly is awesome... unless that same stylist is unprofessional, arrogant, requests your info and never gets back to you. i grew out my hair in order to donate it to locks of love and i went to get it chopped off yesterday. julie was my hairdresser and i thought she was great. i tend to be somewhat awkward with small talk, but i didn't feel too weird talking to julie and she didn't force small talk like a lot of hairdressers do. it was a very painless experience for me and i have gotten LOADS of compliments on my hair already. i was in and out in under an hour! in the end, she also gave me a discount on my haircut which was unexpected and really nice. i will come back here for sure! read more

Kaity has been cutting my hair for at least 4 years now, and I've always been so pleased with how it looks at the salon, and how it grows out (which is how I judge a good haircut - sure it can look great all jujjed up by a stylist... the true test is how it looks when you wash, dry, and style it yourself, and the next test is how it looks a few weeks later). I asked Lynzie if she would be able to do my hair in a more casual up-do and she rocked it! She first showed me a number of pictures of potential styles, and took a look at my wardrobe. Natalie has been cutting my hair for 5+ years and she is awesome! More than once I've thought after a cut that it's the best haircut I've ever gotten. My hair has varied in length from a chin-length bob to way past my shoulders and they've all been great cuts. I live out in the 'burbs and drive into the city (45 min to an hour) to see her. A while back I got tired of making the drive and tried a couple stylists by me, but it was a terrible mistake and I scurried back to her.
