This is not a fancy hotel and it can use a remodel. But for me, the most important things about this hotel are all good. The staff at the front desk are very nice. The rooms are clean and the bed is very clean and very comfortable. They added a few niceties such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, 2 free water bottles, plus the usual soap and hair shampoo. The towels are nice and soft. This has to be the nicest of the less expensive hotels in Monterey Park. read more

I stayed here once after working late on Uber and, not wanting to wake up the parents, I booked a room. I think this place has an odor which is hard to describe. It's not bad, just different. The hosts are hospitable, the room is comfy and clean for the most part. You get a little more than you pay for IMO, which is nice. Pretty decent for a cheap night! Sheets and towels didn't feel stiff. Bed was comfortable, clean bathroom-- had toothbrushes, a fridge with water bottles, ac/heater, even disposable slippers! It was super run down and dirty. Complementary breakfast was nothing like what you would expect from a normal hotel ( even motel six). It was cup noodles and cheep bread one star for the gentleman at the lobby, at least he was nice. I would never stay there again. read more

With LA just a hop and a skip away from the bay area, I come down here often. This hotel has served my friends and I well. The prices are good and the rooms are a good size. Being close to the freeway is an extra bonus, since LA is so spread out we really don't need to be wasting time driving the local streets. Since the area has so many Chinese people, the hotel caters a lot to their tastes. The front desk people all seem to be fluent in Chinese, and breakfast is a selection of Chinese buns and soy milk or coffee. The hotel is really close to Old Town Pasadena, and Monterey Park has lots of good Asian food to eat. It's also midpoint of all my favorite places to be: West LA/ Santa Monica, Irvine/ Orange County, and Diamond Bar (hey, I have to visit the parents too). And Diamond Bar is next door to Anaheim, home to Disneyland and the Angels. And on a side note, please don't ever say "LA Angels." That's just wrong. They are in Anaheim. Don't give me none of that "LA Angels of Anaheim" crap. That's just plain idiotic. That's like saying "Irvine Dodgers of LA" or some stupid crap. Dodgers are as close to Irvine as Anaheim is to LA. read more

Stayed here for two nights in July. The website is a bit outdated in that instead of making a reservation on the site, you fill in a short form with your information and they will email you to confirm. But I received a very prompt response (in my spam folder, fyi). The front desk people and housekeeping were very nice. They provide free wifi; they have three networks but each is inconsistent so you might have to switch from one to another. Place could look better, but I wasn't there on vacation. I did see a few long strands of hair in the sheets before I rested in bed. Obviously this wouldn't please anyone, but it's understandable and I just plucked them off. Great price, and as the other reviewer stated, it is super convenient that it is right off the freeway, and close to many Asian restaurants and shops (if that's what you're looking for). read more

Now I see why this hotel has such high ratings on Priceline hotels.com Etc. You can call it a 2 star hotel or even close to a three star they have a full continental breakfast, the place is older but kept up clean. The staff were absolutely amazing! Went out of their way to make sure everything was as close to a five-star stay as you can get. Check in is at 12 noon and check out is at 12 noon. Very conveniently located next to the freeway and a hospital but not a busy loud Hospital. The hotel was nice and quiet the bed was comfortable many Wi-Fi choices from 2G to 5G. You can't beat the price and service also several excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. Would come here again. read more

We needed a place to stay for the night since we didn't want to drink and drive, so we booked a room here. To our surprise the room was clean, didn't smell. The bed was comfortable with nice sheets. They had toiletries and water bottles. The AC wasn't the best, luckily it was a cool day. It's a Cool place to stay if you need a quick getaway. read more

My car broke down right on Hellman and Garfield, but as luck would have it there were still mechanics at the gas station across from the inn. Even better was that Grand Inn is on the cheap side. $75 for the night. The A/C worked very well, but they leave it off when vacant, so just crank it up for a bit because the nights may get hawt. The bed had 6 layers on it: a bed sheet, foam padding which made it comfy, another bed sheet, then the usual blanket, blanket #2, and duvet. From what I experienced, none of the layers had any bugs. The only thing that bit that night was my sexy female companion. Shower and toilet work well with great pressure and had no grime. If you like to poop with the door open, you can check yourself out at the mirror across while doing so, if you're in to that. The towels smelled funny but that's only because i got used to my mother's fabric softener. Or maybe it was my poop. Otherwise, they seemed clean. TV is loaded with redundant international channels which was great fun. My remote was broken though. DVD player included. Wi-Fi too. Not much immediately around, but the arco across is 24 hours for any late night cravings. Complimentary boiled egg in the morning. Salt too! They seem to cater a lot to tourists from China and the local students looking for a little brown-chicken-brown-cow. None of the above bothered my sleep, but provided ample atmosphere. I wish the walls were furry. If you don't mind walking, you can go north a mile or so to hit the restaurants/boba places on Valley Blvd. Those places are usually open late; some till 4am. For the price, other spots i've been to were worse. This place keeps it clean, simple and cheap. Don't expect too much, and you'll be fine. The only reason i knocked down one star is the fact that there were no pokestops nearby and it was infested with mankeys and pidgeys. Gross! read more

Oh, it acutally better than I imaged. Just look at the map i thought it would be a noisy place but actually it's very quiet. The price is reasonable compare to inns around. The room was clean and comfortable, good for traveler who need a good night sleep. Although it has breakfast, but they're very bad, and the breakfast time close @930am. that's a little too early. Despite the retro outer appearance, this place is very clean and tidy inside. Everything worked in my hotel room, and there was a conference room on 3rd floor for games and such and a seating area in the lobby. They serve coffee and breakfast in the morning from 6 to 9 but I woke up too late. The staff was very friendly. I would come back here. Okay for the price I say it is 3.5/5 66dollar plus tax. Compare to other hotel service, this one is cheap. And we expect lower level of service. Bed is not itchy but not very comfortable Wifi is not stable. Furniture is little old. Breakfast is okay. It is clean. But no more. this place is rediculous i was staying there while i was going to school i was looking for a new apt in the area of my school they have a camra in the hallway and they watch every move you make and if u have friends visiting u forget it they will tell u u have too many visitors and kick u out they also dont want to wash their sheets when i asked them to change the sheets cause i was itchy these pple do not care that their sheets had microscopic bugs eating at me as i lay in bed it was the worst experience please do not stay here air conditioners with buckets underneath to catch the water sheets strewn on the air conditioners outside the room suspicious glances at your guests and at u no mater how friendly u try to be trying to make the best of a poor situation read more

A late review, but I think the truth counts! So, since since I had to ride along with my long time close friend, who had received a bunch of last minute call-outs to work, and wasn't able to finish until almost midnight! We didn't want to be rude to awaken my host at a prearranged place to stay, so we had to Google - I chose Yelp - to look for last minute place to stay. Btw, this was on March 18th, Friday night. We called so many places, at least 10 in surrounding areas, and everywhere was booked or super high priced. I was hesitant about this place initially because of the previous negative reviewers, but we had no choice due to budget, besides that I wasn't paying. :p. So, I gave this place a try. The night shift Asian guy was really nice, he said since I don't smoke & he had extra rooms available, he offered me a room with 2 beds on 3rd floor, even tho it's just for myself. My friend joked, hey if 1 bed is itchy (like the previous reviewers said) then I have another bed! Anyways, it was actually pretty comfortable & clean! I have sensitive skin, and didn't feel that their bed was itchy at all! The only thing, for those super finicky people, there were a few dings/scuff marks on their walls - no biggie for me. I think my friend had helped me pay about $65-$75 for the room. They had a flat screen TV, fridge, dresser drawers, hair dryers, open closet, you know typical kind. Oh, and they have free disposable slippers in the room! In the morning, they have complimentary hard boiled eggs, coffee, packaged danish/muffins... The young Asian girl on day shift was ok/cool, not those friendly types, but was probably "told" to work for family kind, like a whatever's attitude...so, don't take it personal. If you're one of those who has an ego, expect her to give you a look & you're better off going elsewhere that's costly & may actually kiss your a** - just saying haha! :p read more

I stayed at the Grand Inn for two nights with my boyfriend for the New Years Eve. When we got to the room, I was disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room. And no microwave. It was downstairs in the lobby. There was no cups either. And no alarm clock. The only good thing about this room was that it had a dvd player. Fast check in and fast check out. No deposit needed and just leave the key to the front desk. The wifi is free. The room is clean compared to Lincoln and other motels. Just 70$ plus tax per night and can get simple breakfast for free. I didn't see many people coming in and out. The security should be good. read more

Desperate for somewhere to stay late at night, we called the Grand Inn. The man told us he had a room available and would keep it for us, no questions asked. We arrived and were greeted at reception and we checked in. The man even cane outside to guide me into a parking space!
