I usually go to their Park Slope location, but I stopped by the Bay Ridge one for a late morning brunch and loved it just as much. The space has that cozy, homey Bay Ridge vibe, feels bright, casual, and unpretentious. Service was friendly and attentive. The food here is inventive yet approachable. My must order is always the chicken liver mousse, hands down one of my favorite things on the menu. It's so smooth, rich, and creamy, honestly legit. I just wish it came with better or at least warm pita to do it justice. I also really like the breakfast sausage skillet, crispy lox potato, and Spanish breakfas, all flavorful, balanced, and perfect for the cozy brunch mood. I tried the Reuben sandwich this time too, flavor was there, but the bread was almost inedibly chewy, kind of a dense rye sourdough situation. It's a solid neighborhood brunch pick overall, but seating is limited, so expect a bit of a wait during prime weekend hours. Still, worth it every time.

Delicious brunch spot around the bay ridge area! Staff + service was excellent. Limited seating though. A large variety of delicious items to choose from. The lattes were well made & delicious! The skillet pancake was ok. I enjoyed the crispy potato tart with lox, egg and salad & the 3 poached egg w Lebanese spiced sauce, meatballs and potatoes and pita bread - delish.

I enjoyed the foods here. We ordered to share: Salmon Eggs Benedict Plate, Pastrami Hash and Egg, Pimento cheese and corn bread, Croast. The salmon eggs benefit plate was nice, very savory. The pastrami hash and egg also very savory. The croast was ok - my least favorite. The pimento cheese and corn bread was so delicious - my most favorite! The staff was very friendly & nice. Plenty of seating inside.

We were in the neighborhood and wanted to tried this place on a Sunday afternoon. Ended up waiting for almost an hour. The place is very small and less than 10 tables in side. The food is decent. Nothing stands out much. Chicken liver mousse-not my kind of thing. The liver tasted a bit fishy to me. But my friends like it. 4/10 3 poached eggs skillet-looks better than its taste. Lack some kind of flavor to make it pop. 6/10 Chicken sandwich-flavorful. Fries is a plus. We finished the fries. 7/10 Chicken and waffles-not bad. If they give some syrup on the side, it might make it better. 8/10. If you don't want to wait a long line, don't come here on a Sunday. We stopped by at 1:30PM on Sunday and didn't get seated until almost 2:30PM. There's no waiting area inside so you have to wait outside. It's not worth it to wait in the heat on a summer day. Really.

A common was and continues to be one of my favorite spots in Bay Ridge for breakfast but also for lunch. I normally have breakfast there and the choices are wonderful. The food is beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and Ivan the manager is terrific. I always feel welcomed there. Service is excellent and it's just a nice cozy spot to meet someone for a delicious meal. Highly recommended. Apologies no photos this time.

I'm shocked and appalled I haven't been here sooner! When my husband suggested we come to the Common for breakfast during our stay-cation, I was 1) surprised he picked a place and 2) that none of my friends had already recommended we give this place a try. We did however make the mistake of not making reservations before coming on a Wednesday morning after 10AM and know better for next time. Their menu is very unique with bold flavors and it worth a thorough look over before sitting down. Make the most of your wait time and really read it over, and ask if they are also serving lunch as well, which will further confuse you in your decision-making process. After looking at their pictures here on Yelp, I was firmly decided on their caramel hot latte while my hubby wanted to try their iced pistachio coffee. To me, my caramel latte was a the clear winner when it not only came to presentation, but the TASTE as well! Delicious down to the last sip! I tried to lick the inside of the mug once or twice, but didn't want to further endure the looks my husband was giving me across the table. For the main entree, I decided on their Croast, which is fairly new to their menu. This is a croissant with a poached egg on to, smothered in a cream mushroom sauce - what's not to love?!? This dish was fabulous! The depth of flavor and savoriness far exceeded my expectations of the portion. The portion isn't huge for a reason, and allows you to take in every taste your tastebuds can offer. My husband's breakfast sandwich was simple and yet packed a surprising punch with their bacon jam. This is a sandwich not to sleep on! From the staff to the vibe to the food and their other patrons, this place is a much needed gem; support local and get your breakfast here!

Service 10/10, food 10/10. Every was so fresh and came out quickly, there was a short wait on a Saturday morning but they turn tables at a good rate and we didn't feel rushed at all. Can't wait to come back and try more

Tried this place from a recommendation from my cousin. Staff very friendly and attentive. My brother ordered the croast and I ordered the grilled breakfast naan. Both were very good. Wait was 20 mins so we decided to walk around the neighborhood and they called us when the table was ready. Very good service all around.

Originally, we were going to a diner but the prices were higher than we'd like and upon looking at the menu here, we thought the price was reasonable and the dishes looked good. We had the in a skillet- three poached eggs in sweet chili sauce with onion, potatoes, tomatoes, corn, cotija cheese, sour cream & grilled pita ($17). The description sold me on the dish. I found it to have a great acidic flavor and I think it was just missing a savory salty piece to the dish. I would've ordered a side of something to go with it. I wanted to try the sausage and grits. Upon sitting down, it wasn't on the menu so I had a delicious Croast ($15). it worked really well together. With the first bite I had a zesty acidic arugula, warm croissant, with flavorful mushroom and sauce. The truffle tapenade wasn't really needed or made enough of an impact. We'd definitely come back and try their other dishes. The place is small and gets packed really quickly. We got there shortly after 8 AM on a Sunday and it was already filled with local. I would recommend parties of 1 to a max of 4. It's a great local spot to have a nice hot breakfast.

Came here for the first with some friends per their recommendation many times in the past. Waited for a while it was busy. The place isn't big but it's cozy. We were sat and sometime after approached by our server. Our drinks took longer than expected to come and shortly after the food came. I wasn't blown away, even though I expected to be. The food was just OK. The skillet pancake was undercooked. It felt like something just wasn't right . It's my understanding that the restaurant may have had an off day but overall the experience wasn't good . We did mention it to the staff and they did give us a discount but that didn't change the quality of the food/experience . May or may not be back , haven't decided .

From the moment we arrived, the service was flawless -- warm, incredibly attentive, and perfectly paced. The refreshments were so great for a celebration. The Cocktails: Expertly crafted and sophisticated. It was refreshing to have drinks that were perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The coffee was served alongside dessert, it was rich and the perfect finishing touch to a wonderful meal. While the Filet Mignon was a popular and well loved choice among our group, and the Meatballs were universally raved about for being truly excellent, the real showstopper for me was the Chicken Parmesan. I don't typically order steak, so I was delighted by this choice. The cutlet was impressively sized yet elegantly thin, showcasing the high quality of the chicken. It was served with a side of creamy mashed potatoes, which was such a comforting and delicious pairing. It did remind me of visiting Germany believe it or not like a schnitzel style cutlet but still very italian if that makes any sense. If you visit, you simply cannot miss the fried eggplant appetizer with burrata. It is divine! This dish alone would be the perfect excuse to drop by for a casual dinner date or a "girls' night out" centered around appetizers, wine, and to try a dessert. I would absolutely return!

The fried calamari could've been less oily, as this took away from the crunch; also slightly overcooked. Baked clams were decent. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Pizza was great! They reheated for us, since our group was too busy chatting. Desserts - phenomenal! Drinks- ehh. Brunch menu - French toast was decent. The salmon over hash brown , was lacking a touch of something , couldn't pinpoint what was lacking. Chicken and waffles, decent, wasn't the best I've had. Service- jonathan was our waiter during brunch and also our bartender. He's GREAT! During service dinner, we had a female waitress and I felt she lacked attention to details and couldn't flag her down when we wanted something. Overall, service is a hit or miss , I guess? The restaurant is not overly expensive -- the $65.00 lunch bill below suggests a high-end selection and/or apps. I had a pineapple mint lemonade, sea bass on saffron risotto, a lovely salad topped with potato gnocchi, and cake dessert for $85 inclusive of 20% tip and tax. Nearly everything tasted fresh and homemade. Worth it. If this were served in Restaurant Row, the bill would be $40 more and the food not nearly as good. Because Beets & Carrots offers something rare and startlingly somehow in decline: food that tastes like food the body happily accepts as such. They serve meals that stand out simply because they taste like food. It was nice to dine outside the home feeling confident no digestive issues, lethargy, brain fog, bloating, etc were around the corner. You can tell that someone health conscious who cares about how ingredients show up in the meal is in the kitchen, someone who thinks food is both very fun and very serious. Least favorite: The lemonade. Mostly personal preference here, as I prefer a much tarter, less watery lemonade with higher lemon:water volume ratio. But I think most people would like it; I would get it again. Favorite: Both the entree and salad (which surprised me with a deliciously simple horseradish dressing) were great, but the bass wins in my book. Skin crisped to perfection...very flavorful fish and a great cut...creamy, perfect risotto. I appreciated that the risotto wasn't too salty as well.

I was really tired that morning so I guess that parts on me for just reading what I want and ordering it, but as someone who's work in the service industry you also clarify what the customer would like. I never said I wanted ONLY eggs. Just the way she handled it was really rude when I didn't even make a fuss I was just confused why there was nothing in my burrito weird energy here if you're not a white townie.
