Very happy with my Trex deck and the customer service experience with The Composite Guys. After obtaining quite a few quotes, I talked with Christina, and provided the specs. She went above and beyond with a fast turnaround estimate and their estimate came in at a much more affordable option (and they offer finance as well). They proved to be flexible as I was also working with a fence replacement with another contractor and I appreciated their patience with my timeline. Their installation timeline was also quicker than other companies (if that is a consideration). The installers were top-notch and I HIGHLY recommend requesting Matthew Patierno and Tim Hurley. They came out to verify they had the materials before they started their demo. They both clearly care about doing a top-notch job and take pride in their work. They went the extra mile as well - creating a temporary path for my dog to have access to the backyard - after the demo day - I was surprised and really appreciated the care they took with anticipating my needs and concerns without being asked. I was a little anxious at the beginning of this project but am completely satisfied and am thrilled to have a solidly constructed frame topped with gorgeous Toasted Sand Trex boards. Please shop around before using this company, especially for any Trex deck work! We hired this company in December 2022 to replace our wooden deck with Trex. The job was completed, with several re-dos, and then paid in full. Six months later, we started having issues and John the owner sent over his punch-list guy to do the repairs. Their guy noticed many other issues that needed repairing, that we were unaware of. After many no-shows, he finally came over to start repairs by removing handrails and some of the floor boards. This is when he pointed out other mistakes made during install and issues that needed to be addressed PRIOR to going forward with the initial project, but were actually covered up during installation. He said he needed to get more materials and left without making the deck safe, including no handrails or even a rope.... and we are 9 feet off the ground! After many no-shows and repeated excuses, my husband reached out to owners John and Todd and asked them to PLEEEEASE come fix our deck. They stated it was a "structural" issue. They offered to come put back up the materials that were removed and laying out in the yard, without correcting any of the original issues. We stated we wanted out deck put back up, but in accordance with the contract that we signed and paid for. They said NO. We hired another contractor to do the job, which turned out beautifully. We sued the Composite Guys for a refund and received a judgement against them on August 2024. After many months of pursuing them for payment with no response, we had to consult a collection attorney and serve The Composite Guys a summons in Garnishment. We returned to court January 2025 and received payment in full..... finally! I can only give this Company a one-star but they deserve zero!! read more

The Composite Guys... Jason, Will and crew did an amazing job of the rapid demolition of our wood deck and build of our new composite deck. The old deck was approximately 900 sq ft reduced the new one to 700 sq ft of outdoor living space. Having built my original deck over 16 years ago when I was a lot younger, it was refreshing with envy to watch professionals doing the job expeditiously and flawless! This is a follow-up to my review from OCT 31. That review was for the lack of communication throughout the process of my service. This review is for issues with regards to the concrete work that I noticed the following days after the work was completed. I could not access the work thoroughly prior to payment because of the concrete being wet from rain which restricted me from seeing certain marks that were left in the concrete. I told John the owner of the company and he said he would not address the issues until I removed the previous review and then ask me why I paid for a service I was unhappy with. I sent pictures over to him and he agreed that the pictures revealed things of concern but because I was being COMBATANT nothing was going to be done. I stated in the previous review that it wasn't the contractors before getting a thorough look, but their work was not precise at all. Attention to detail was not use. We love our deck! The crew, Glenn, James and Devin, that installed the deck were so professional with an attention to detail making sure everything was perfect. Especially Glenn who added details like quarter rounds around the post and repaired some broken siding boards along base. They even flipped some board after they were installed because of screw hole. The color of composite is perfect match with house and isn't hot under foot even in 90 degree weather. There are pegs to cover screw holes which make them invisible giving a seamless installation. read more

I Highly agree with Anthony B. DO NOT use this company!! They came to give a quote and told us what we should use and persuaded us we did not need another quote. Big mistake on our part. They know nothing about construction. They did not place the correct order and what came was not enough. Did not show up when they were suppose to. Did not even call. If it was not for the two guys that did the work and knew what they were doing, I cannot imagine what would have happened. The crew did not build a deck, they built our deck, ensuring everything was done to produce the deck we purchased. First off, Todd August, owner of The Composite Guys, was the only deck contractor that responded to my inital calls/emails in a timley manner. Much appreciated. He continued to respond (always within an hour) to emails throughout the planning and project. This is rare if you've ever dealt with contractors! His quote was very fair compared some others we got and there weren't any 'extra' costs along the way. Second, the crew. Brett, lead builder, and his team put so much care into the design and took time to make sure we were on the same page. So necessary! His workmanship is exquisite and I am so happy about the way our new deck turned out. Demo left in yard, for almost two days. Told it would be moved was not. Left in my yard told it be moved on a certain day it was not. They sent in haste a cree out in the evening to do it. I had no idea. Neighbors complained. Put furniture in front of doors. On deck furniture was in front of door. I couldnt even get to deck as entrance is from inside of home. I asked three times for someone to move it. I was told they will. Never did. I had to get someone else to do it so I can even see what work was done. read more

The installers are respectable, and the pics of their work online pretty - but buyer beware - they are not a licensed contractor and won't get their work permitted and inspected. We signed a contract worth a pretty penny - upwards of $20K and when we asked why it wasn't getting inspected because it is a sizable deck (they had already started covering the beams and joists) we were told that permits were not required. Yes they are! We called the city inspectors, they said the deck would not pass inspection and that we DID need a permit, after the owner John Maloy came out and said everything was good by his OWN personal inspections. All we wanted to do is have the job completed in accordance with the inspections office of the city to make sure the job is done by the book. Mr. Maloy committed to our requests, then pulled out of the contract, refuses to refund any money or make this right, and my yard has been left a mess. Do your homework and hire somebody licensed and insured, who is upfront and knows what is required of the work they do. Who knows, you might see this guy on WAVY TV 10 soon. read more

I had my deck replaced Nov 2018 and they did a great job. I did receive two other quote and there price was fair. I was very pleased with my new deck. April 2019 I started getting thing ready for the spring and noticed they didn't cut around my kitchen drain pipe enough for me to open it. I called and talked to the owner Todd, he told me send a picture and he would get someone out to correct the issue. Its now August and now one has correct my problem, I have contacted them four additional time and this week someone was suppose to be out on Tuesday no call to say anything about plans has change. I won't recommend this company!!! This was an easy fix. They failed. read more
