I urge you to NEVER use The Condo Showroom, specifically Todd DeBoer and Joe Marcotte. Do NOT rent your property out through them or rent a property yourself through them. If you have ANY issues with your place, they will not do anything about it. Instead, they will try to work around any accountability and haggle with the HOA or any other potentially responsible parties to avoid dealing with the issue. For example, if your aparment gets damaged (by a random plumbing backup in this case) like mine did, they will give you a run-around excuse on why the issue can't be immediately handled (despite being required to immediately respond to emergencies based on building regulation). Their excuse is usually something to do with the fact that they do not own the property, they are merely a management company (they even told me to call a plumber, as a renter). It removes accountability from them so they can blame the owner for not making a decision. Meanwhile, you are left with an unusable property WHILE you are paying them for landlord services (they will not offer you any compensation either). The owner of the property has no idea that their property is damaged because The Condo Showroom is delaying that contact to see if they can pin the cost on a third party. A contract means two parties adheer to a set of rules, but in the case of The Condo Showroom, they expect you to follow all of the rules while they avoid their duties. They will threaten you with lawyers, eviction, and anything they can think of before they admit any blame or take action to resolve a problem (usually created by them in the first place). I have had leaky ceilings, heating/AC not working, clogged showers, plumbing issues, etc. and I cannot recall one instance where The Condo Showroom immediately sent a repairman to fix anything. It usually took a week or two. If they are responsible for selling your place, they will harass the current tenant beyond the legal expectations for showings, inspections, appraisals, etc. This is illegal as they cannot enter the home EVERY time they ask, there has to be reasonable accomodation. The Condo Showroom with almost NEVER accomodate to you, WILL threaten to evict you, harass you with phone calls, emails, and texts, etc. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen with someone who has more time and energy than me. read more

The other negative reviews speak for themselves. Have a lawyer handy if there is an issue because you will be dealing with an owner who doesn't know how to be professional and waste your time. Had an awful experience about to rent a unit through them and long story short took hours/days of trying to get my money back and I ended up having to contact the owner. This is the type of company that just tries to sell and isn't professional. If you're a woman, be prepared to be disrespected and talked down upon. Do not use them. read more

What a great experience! My homeowners organization recommended two property management companies, one was Downtown Condo Showroom. Hands down, these guys are the right choice. Joe Marcotte and his team made me feel comfortable right off the bat. seems as though this company is ok to buy real estate from (based on reviews), but not as a rental agent. i agree 100% with Reese N from TX and faced similar tactics, issues and general incompetence. it was so bad i was forced to withhold rent just to get basic needs met. (like working kitchen drainage which i was blamed & charged for, etc.) I'll be saving the dysfunctional communications i had with these clowns forever. i mean, they literally went the entire year without them fixing the living lighting system. but who needs lights in your living room? or apparently pipes that drain ... avoid renting from this company like the plague. read more

very snaky company, upon inspection, they kept telling me to not worry about floor scratches and sink issues. Then charged me on both of them. I replastered the walls, they were not perfect but near perfection, $250 to redo it. I never wore shoes in the apartment and they charged me an extra $150 to clean them. When showing the apartment, the company never even came with people, they would have the people call me and I would have to go down to get them and show them my place, while I was working as a self employed person! I had to answer all the questions. Security deposit took over 1 full month to get back with insane extra charges. My apartment itself was in a nice building, as far as everything else goes, the company is completely incompetent and I would highly recommend against using them. read more

The Condo Showroom has gone above and beyond to make sure I am taken care of as a tenant when something goes wrong. I have rented a condo downtown for the last 6 years managed by The Condo Showroom and they have an easy to use web interface for paying rent, submitting repair tickets and everything else a tenant would need from their property manager. There was even a flood event in my highrise a few years ago that effected 4 floors of the building, and Joe and the rest of the team at The Condo Showroom made sure it was handled immediately and I was compensated for the 1 month I was vacated from the unit. I have to dispute El F reviews since I am the landlord behind the lease arrangement that he is describing. El F is forgetting all of the crap he did and the falsehood he is now putting in his review . El F is also forgetting he did not honor his rental agreement which has resulted in a lawsuit having to be filed against him for his intentional and wrongful acts while a tenant . As to the kitchen drain issue , I have to say Condo Showroom did everything possible as I did too and I even contacted the building management team to try and assist El F until I was told the problems were the result of misuse by El F and therefore the drainage issue WAS HIS FAULT. As for the lighting issues El F is mentioning, once again he is forgetting that the lighting vendor was sent out to the condo at no expense to him two times , and we thought it was fixed since El F did not utilize the warranty provisions for the service work which was performed by the lighting vendor at NO EXPENSE TO EL F. i will not get into anymore of El F's misrepresentations but I felt it was totally inappropriate for him to bad mouth Condo Showroom when they went out of their way to help and support him when he was a tenant Very sad that this site is being used to try and smear a business without explaining all the facts. Lastly, we have had 4 tenants lease our property prior to El F, and we have had no problems or disputes with anyone of them and they all worked with Condo Showroom during the term of the tenancy with no problems. Maybe; no I would have been treated better if I had a different skin color I am on the search for a place to buy here in San Diego. Of course I was heading to work, so I had a few minutes to check out their inventory. I just happened to drop in on this little office, because I was referred to it by someone I was having a conversation with. Mistake number one. As I was walking in, Joe "the all mighty" CEO was leaving. I went to shake his hand but according to him: "no disrespect, but I don't." I'm sure you tell that to all of your prospective clients, right? And I was born yesterday as well. After, he just left and I talked to one of his employees that seemed to be well mannered. Even with that being said, I have no doubt in my mind that this isn't how he treats his equals. He came off as if I was not worthy enough to touch his highness hands. It does bother me though to see that these are the type of people.... And they say that things are changing for the better. From the reviews that are on here--these people must have meet him on a good day--or they must have the same pigmentation in their skin. Whatever the case maybe, you learn really quickly who are a real "class act", and I can say that Mr. Joe Marcotte is not that at all. As someone that is supposed to be a professional, I can not say that I'm not surprised at his behavior.
