The Confectionary is a great little spot near home. We wanted to grab a late dinner with friends and saw this nearby restaurant & bar was open til 10 pm for dining and midnight for drinks. Our waitress was attentive and kind, and the food was fresh even at 9:30 pm. I had the French dip (the most popular sandwich) with battered fries. My hubby got the hamburger and battered fries. Then we swapped halves. Both were fantastic, but the French dip was our favorite. The buns on both were soft and fresh (a requirement for a great sandwich). Our friends had the four-legged Philly, the Magic Mike salad (which looked delicious), and an appetizer sampler. Everyone loved their food. I took one star off because the table we sat at was two tables pushed together, and there was food in the crack from the previous diners. My loaded nachos consisted of cheese, scallions, guacamole and sour cream. Waitress had to take back to add the chicken. If this is loaded nachos, they should drop the price from $16. No beans, no salsa, not great. I only asked for no jalapeños. read more

You should really let people know this is a bar only. It's 21 or older and me and my kids were going to visit here for dinner. We wasted our time driving clear out to plain city to find out it was 21 older. Sad we would have visited her, but we're unable to have dinner! Looks yummy. read more

This place was fun. The service was very friendly and attentive. We had a French dip with chips to share and it was very good. They have a pool table and a cool old, long shuffleboard table. We played some pool and the table played well since I ended up winning the match. We noticed that Saturday evening was a local couples type crowd which we seemed to fit in well with. I will definitely come back to try more from the menu and play some shuffleboard. read more

We loved about a mile from here for 6 years but never stopped in. We moved further away and decided it was time to give it a try. We went on a Friday night and there were 3 to 4 other couples there. They have several TVs and has different shows running. In a normal year I'm sure they have sports going on the TVs. I ordered the cowboy cheeseburger with fries and a beer. The burger tasted great and it had plenty of condiments on it. The bun however was really greasy and it fell apart, by the time I got halfway through the burger I was eating it with my fork-it did not stay together. The fries were 5 star, they were so good. My wife ordered the French dip and her bun was the same, really greasy. She got the Onion rings and those were also 5 stars. This is good pub food and could be better with a few tweaks. It was good enough to go back and try a steak or something else on the menu. read more

Great bar with fantastic service and good food. The Confectionary is a gem hidden away in Plain City. They open later in the day (5PM) which keeps me from patronizing them more often. The beer was cold and plentiful and they serve up some very good food. The place is large with a cozier bar area and a large wide open dining hall with a pool table and shuffle board. read more

I have been here 3 times in the month and it was always great. Steaks are cooked perfectly with great seasonings, chicken fried steak was so good, probably the best I have had, shrimp basket great. The meals come with a salad that is so good and the proportions are on the larger side. The service is great. Will be making more visits. read more

Hands down best french dip I've had.  The roast beef isnt grisly so it's easy to bite into and sliced pretty thin, but is stacked with multiple pieces. You don't get gypped in the meat.  The bread is super soft and deliscious, but though enough to hold the meat without making it soggy.  Fries are beer battered so they are super crunchy but soft on the inside.  They have bottles of fry sauce so of course that's a huge plus.  They do only have beer, so that was a bit of a bummer for a wine drinker like me, but they had your basic beers and a few craft beers.  I tried a piece of the steak my stepdad got and it was awesome.  Does not require steak sauce.  It was nicely seasoned, tender and cooked medium like he requested.  The manager was also our waitress and she was super sweet and very attentive! It's very clean and there are two sides with an interconnecting door between the two.  When I cam a couple years ago it was just as good and there were pool tables on one of the two areas.  Not sure if they're still there since I didnt wander around.  It is a bar so I would bet they're still there.  Can't wait to take my hubby here.  That french dip will be in my dreams! This place is highly recommended, but only if your 21 and older.  It is a bar. read more

Stopped by for the first time last night to grab a late meal and check the place out after having stumbled across it on Facebook. I'm happy to say the reviews were spot on. We had the Berry Chicken Salad and French Dip Sandwich, which were both great. The beer was ice cold and poured properly, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I think it's awesome that a neighborhood spot like this is around and doing well in a tiny, off the trail community like Plain City. We're happy to have a good meal and cold beer just down the road from our new place and we'll definitely be back. read more

Horrible customer service since new management took over. Food came out cold and took forever to get drinks.

Went there and the service was terrible. Not only did the manager forget my hubby's fries, but she also forgot my dressing and silverware. After asking 3x for those things another waitress got them for us. Not the same quality of food, and really bad service. read more

This is a good locals place. I didn't grow up here but when you walk in with someone that did everyone seems to know who they are. Steaks are good and reasonably priced. They have a shuffle board table. Steaks, Beer and shuffleboard.......nothing better in Plain City. read more

Waited for nearly an hour and got no service. Had to leave and find a place that I could get a sandwich and a beer. They seemed more than happy to serve their friends and relatives, but much, much less so for about 20 other customers. While I was waiting, I watched several others get up and leave, having received not even a hello. I will never be back. read more
