I could spend hours in this store. Hours. Presumably after that my apartment would be well organized..... If you need anything you can find it here- from travel accessories to gift wrap to kitchen gadgets to regular old storage boxes. I don't think its outrageously pricey and I would rather get everything storage related here rather than a Target because I know they are going to have a huge selection. Thats all they do! They have every size you could think of for every type of storage there is. I love how the store is big and spacious and the associates are never pushy and helpful when you need them to be. For kitchen wares they are a really good choice- we did a candy buffet for our wedding and they had the best deal on the scoops! read more

The worst thing I can say about this store is that everyone is really helpful and really friendly. I don't like to actually talk to people, esp when shopping, so I tend to bee line to the things I need to get out of there asap. I know the store like the back of my hand so I don't need to know where something is, I don't need to know about different containers, etc. BUT if you need to talk to someone about the best strategies to store your socks, flour, batteries, etc then this is the store to go to since everyone is so helpful and you will leave invigorated to organize. Things tend to be pricey at TCS but you get a great product so you don't have to worry about something breaking, cracking so I really think that going there is worth the money. read more

It's an entire store devoted to organizing just about everything in your life. They have a vast selection; every shape, material and size of tupperware, bulletin boards, desk organizers, storage containers, closet hangers, shelving,dividers, tins, colored boxes, trash cans, cookie jars, gift wrapping, travel toothbrushes, cosmetic cases.. EVERYTHING. This is both fantastic and completely overwhelming. This review is about my fabulous new elfa dream closet from the Container Store! We live in a newly constructed house, so we are blessed with huge walk-in closets that came with the standard new-construction-wire-shelf in our closets. I've lived with them for 3+ years and it was time to upgrade to well organized, fabulous closets. Thanks to the Container Store's annual shelving sale, I was happy about the 25% discount. Marcia B was SOOO helpful and wonderful in helping us design two closets. We spent an hour and 45 minutes with her and all I have is praise for her insight. We picked a birch and platinum combination. The installers showed up on time and did a fabulous job installing everything. The closets look AWESOME!!! I highly recommend designing your closets with elfa. The price was a little high after delivery and installation fees and maybe I went a bit too crazy with the finishes, but the closets ended up looking perfect. I have yet to admit this on yelp, but there's no better time than the present. I am an organizational freak of mankind. There, I said it. I'm the type of person that lives by post-its and lists. I have lists and notes for everything - stores to check out, restaurants and bars to sample, trips I want to take, toys to buy for my beloved pooch, things I want to blog about in the middle of the night but I'm afraid I'll forget them by morning. I need to get a waterproof list maker, because I swear, every single morning in the shower, I think of at least 8 things I need to remember. By time I reach for my towel? Poof. Gonzo. Must be all those years of smoking. I have lists that remind me that I have other lists to write up. This is just a peek into my crazy brain. So for me, The Container Store is heaven. I walk in and it's like a breath of fresh air. Airtight containers for my food? Check. Organizers to organize the organizers that hold my paper clips? Check. Plastic bins to hold my overflowing collection of tank tops? Check. And it doesn't end there. I have a thing for collecting vintage (or vintage looking) glass. I love old school milk bottles, canning jars, recycled glass vases, etc... The Container Store randomly carries these too. Just last night I picked up an old looking glass flask with a cork stopper. Because everyone just needs one of those! My only beef is that the two measley stores in the entire state are in Chestnut Hill and Natick. They're practically right next door to one another! There couldn't be one closer to the city? Or even T accessible? Bummer. read more

Super expensive, yet super awesome is the best way to describe any item you'll ever see for sale at The Container Store. This Container Store is one of the two in the area (the other being in Natick), and while I like them both, this is the preferred. Even though Natick is brighter and more lively, this one is more contained. Sometimes it's feels like Back To The Future down here with the spotlights and underground atmosphere. In general, the store is super organized and has every imaginable container. The stock is wonderful and the clearance holds tons of gems all the time. The staff are super kind, and parking is ample. Join their rewards system to be part of Pop Rewards... they will send coupons occasionally (not as often as would be ideal.... but whatever). Definitely a good place to stop every now-and-then, plus, it keeps the innovative and modern thinking for any space... love to think of new ideas to improve any time! It would be five stars if coupons were more frequent or they moved the prices down just slightly. I'm not just going to buy something here to buy it here... if it's much less at Target or Walmart (which is a frequent occurrence), that's where I'm heading! 4 stars. read more

I just love this place! They have a solution (or ten) for every storage and organization need I have for my home and also my office! They have solutions for needs I didn't even know I had! The staff is always super friendly and extremely helpful. The parking situation isn't ideal for the amount of stuff I usually leave with but they are very accommodating in that department. A staff member waits with your cart as you bring your car up to the front of the store and they even help you load up the car. read more

So I've spent WAAY too much money at this place on Elfa shelving. It's ridiculous, I never thought I could spend so much on shelving! I mean don't get me wrong, the shelving is great, but it's a pretty $$$ project. Spending so much on shelving makes me think of the movie Fight Club and the main character's thing with Ikea. The staff was helpful. I used the buy online and pick up in store option, but being a newbie to Elfa - I mismatched the wrong hardware to the type of shelving I wanted :(. Also it is well arranged, easy to find things and well stocked. I was thinking of giving it 4 because even due to all of the above, sometime it is hard to find help in the store, but I assume it is to happen and all the rest is so good and just walking in the store is fine. I'm so perplexed by how anybody could ever give the container store a bad review. The selection here is unbelievable. Especially for our Boston apartments that have so little space, organization is the most important thing that any of us could do. I like to look on the website before I come in here so that I know more about what I would like to buy and I make a list but I've had a great experience here. Everybody is very friendly and helpful. When I came in last year looking for some sliders I did have a woman who is pretty confused with the different merchandise and I feel like after all the work I had done pregaming on the Internet I kind of knew what I needed more than she did, but that said she was very nice and she was just trying to help so I would absolutely give this place five stars. read more

This is one of my favorite stores. I like being organized and the Container Store helps me feed that desire. I am a meticulous but not overly-obsessive organizer and this is why Container Store is great for someone like me - all the best things are here such as storage boxes, plastic containers, bathroom hooks, hangers and desk organizing tools. You can organize your closets, kitchen, bathrooms, shoes, accessories and even get overdoor storage hangers. It's all here. Craziest experience ever. This place is a cross between Tron and Ikea. Everything for the clean o snob like myself. I walked in here for one thing, small spice containers for my kitchen and walked out with $250 in containers to help further my journey towards perfection. The staff was helpful. Bought a closet organizing system from Sarah. We were really impressed with her knowledge and skill in designing a closet system and advising what parts to use. Best part was that she was very efficient and explained everything, planned the closet, arranged delivery and setup in about 30 minutes. I think I should buy a cot and sleep there. I'm there so much the commute back and for is the only killer for me ( eats up gas and time but saves shipping $$). Texas is fantastic about on line 'issues" and the Chestnut Hill store is really really helpful when shopping and are extremely cooperative about returns (believe me). The folks here helped me design the most amazing closets. One was a small bedroom closet. Another was my pantry. All I did was bring in measurements. They spent 40 min with me! Then, I arranged to pick up my components the next week. I can't believe I hung the shelf system myself, but I did. The folks here are pleasant, creative and eager to help. The sales people are not on commission. At first I thought the system was a bit pricey. But compared to other systems, the quality and flexibility of the shelving is worth it. Weekends are busy. You might do yourself a favor and go during the week. read more

I swear I came up with all their ideas years ago. I only wish I could have thought to make a whole store of it. Really! I always sit in my apartment (and friends) and figure out how to organize stuff. Why doesn't someone create something for this...and that. Well I'll be damned this store did. They have things I never knew I needed and I find more and more to buy each time. I did try their buy online and pickup in the store but I find I'd rather roam around the store looking for all the things than have it waiting for me but I guess its convenient for some. It's tucked right next to the movie theatre in Chestnut Hill. If you are on Boylston looking for it you'll find you'll walk past it wondering where the entrance is. It's in the back. Kinda strange but I think its catered to people who drive as that's where the parking is. read more

Overrated Junk Store This chain has really gone down hill in recent years. Elfa is nice, but over priced. But Elfa is really the only quality line in there now. The far majority of the store is really uninspired land fill stuff. This is not well thought out merchandise anymore. It has been brought down to the level of stuff you would buy at Target or even, heaven forbid.....Walmart.... the "king of land fill". Seriously, who needs 500 kinds of crappy hangers? How about 5 options that are well designed???? The Boxes? Cheap Bigso junk made in Mexico for the most part. It's sad. I once loved this store when I lived in DC. If you want this level of quality, go to IKEA and pay about 1/3 the price....or Walmart even. Better yet, save the planet and don't buy this stuff. read more

Went to find some shelving for a large utility closet. The saleswoman was a great help, and brought my boxes to the register on a cart. The shelves I purchased were Turquoise Barcelona 5-Shelf Bookcases. When I checked out, the saleswoman came with me to help load the car. When I saw the directions, it showed that 2 people were recommended to set up the shelves. Well, I did it myself, and it didn't take long at all. The shelves are beautiful and functional and seem to be very sturdy. The directions clearly state the weight each shelf can hold, and they're loaded and have made my closet an organizing dream come true! This was my first big purchase at The Container Store and I will definitely be back. read more

They have the coolest lamps here that look like stained glass turtles. They are amazing!

Renovating our bedroom, we had to refurbish a long wall closet and had no idea what to do. Our contractor suggested the Container Store. When we got there, we spied staff member Sarah who showed us around, listened to our needs, and created an excellent design within 20 minutes. We were able to take everything home the same day, all neatly boxed, labeled, and easy to carry, with instructions. Sarah even helped us load the car. Elfa is a terrific railing/shelf/rod/basket system that adapted to the space we have. read more

I'm an interior decorator who is always on the lookout for great storage ideas. Although the store had every size and configuration of products you might need, the prices are ridiculous. I recently bought a a 5-shelf storage rack from Home Depot for $180 (shipped free). The Container Store had the same unit for $399. Yikes! In my professional opinion, you can do better at any number of other stores mentioned in the other reviews or online. read more

I would give this place 5 stars because I LOVE it and super friendly, but I had a problem they fixed in a spectacular way but it was their fault in the first place. I work close by but don't live close to it, so I went after work to get a bunch of stuff to pack up all my homemade treats for Xmas. I bought a lot of stuff got home put it in the cupboard till I needed it. I start packing up the goodies and realize they didn't give me all my stuff!!! I'm a little peeved, I thought that it didn't seem like a enough bags. I should have checked then but I had a lot going on. So I call and tell them my dilemma, its a week later and I figured they would say, too late, too bad, But much to my surprise, they guy on the phone was super helpful, looked in the back to see if it was left, (apparently this is something that happens to other people too) since there was no bag left with my items he asked was it was and put together a bag for me to come pick up. FANTASTIC! I was peeved I had to make a special trip over there but I was glad that they gave me my stuff. Later on I was there buying a piece of the ELFA system for an over the door hanging system with baskets and the stick was too long (my floors are uneven and I guess the door is a bit short) so I went to exchange it for a smaller size but the woman said they could cut it for me! I was so happy because it was only about an 1/8th of an inch too tall but it was enough that my door wouldn't shut. I thought the smaller size would be to small. I hadn't even thought about cutting it. So I love this store, I can always find everything I need and if you look hard enough you can find some nice deals. read more

Stay away from the Chestnut Hill store if you're purchasing an Elfa system. I give them 2 stars because the people who work there are very nice and try to be helpful. However: First, I spent 3 hours in the store with the designer developing a plan for wall-mounted Elfa bookshelves. I'm told it will be one hour for them to cut the parts, which is then changed to 4 hours, and 7 shelves are backordered a week. We went back to pick the parts up, got home and discovered a track was missing. Back to the store for a third time. When we got home with the new piece, we found that it was too long, so we had to hacksaw it in the basement. Then, when we installed the shelves, we discovered that the designer failed to account for the hardware dimensions in his calculations, and the design doesn't work in the space. We jerry-rigged as best we could, but had to cancel the backordered parts and order new ones. When I called I told the rep how disappointed I was, and could she give us a significant discount on the new parts. She managed 25% and an "I can understand how frustrated you must be." read more
