We stopped by The Control Room during happy hour to check it out, but it just wasn't quite what we were looking for. The space has the feel of a typical arcade bar, with plenty of arcade games and a good setup for hanging out with friends. However, the bar itself was pretty quiet during our visit, and one thing that surprised us was that every arcade game cost $1 per play. In my opinion, that felt a little expensive, especially if you're planning to spend much time gaming. We ended up leaving without ordering any food or drinks, so I can't speak to that side of the experience. From what we saw, it could be a fun place to spend an evening eating, drinking, and playing games, but it didn't quite win us over. Good food, fun atmosphere, friendly staff and a lot to do. This doesn't deserve to be rated as high as it is for the food. Don't get me wrong the food is good, but it is standard bar fare and pizza. The cost is reasonable as well but the food alone isn't going to draw me back. The entertainment is the highlight here. Being able to play games, pool, pinball, and have a drink is the real draw. The decent food and good drinks at a reasonable price is what will bring me back. The food came out quick, the staff was friendly. You can order on your phone through a QR code at the table or wait for a server to come with menus. Overall a great place to hang and get a bite if you are in the mood for the basics. read more

Looking for a bar with arcade games and pool in north eastern Colorado Springs? The Control Room is the place to be! They have games ranging from old school Pump (similar to DDR), basketball, air hockey, Pac Man, Galliga, pool, etc. all of which are in working order so that's awesome since a lot of bars with arcade games I have been to have seen some abuse and it shows. They also have an impressive drink menu and all the cocktails we ordered were made deliciously. I highly recommend the Long Island Ice Tea. This is a really fun arcade bar! They have a separate area to eat or drink and the rest is all games. Pac-Man, shooting, basketball, pool, you name it, it's all here! They also have atms and change machines, since all of the games are coin operated. Staff was really friendly and helpful during my time here. read more

Just left and what a lack luster experience for my first time at The Control Room. Not greeted upon entering, sat at the bar with no one behind the counter. Two - three minutes go by and a bartender finally appears and tells me she will be right with me. She then proceeds to talk to two patrons at the end of the bar for another several minutes while myself and one other couple who arrived the same time as myself - none of us had been helped. Great drinks,fun atmosphere and perfect place to hang out. They offer a variety of games as well as a pool table. They always have great specials on their drinks which is nice. We took our toddlers here earlier in the day and we all had a great time. We were able to enjoy ourselves while the kids had fun playing games. We've also come out on a date night as it's local to the area we live in. Definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

For a bar/ arcade with a minimal food menu, the food was very tasty! The Buffalo Mac was the perfect heat and cheese combo. The cocktails on tap were yummy. I understand policy and procedures. Your menu is online and the door is visible, but a reminder would have been nice. Our server informed us of policy and we apologized and asked if we could finish the beverages we had just ordered. She said yes. We rounded up our children and had them sit at the table. Another lady came to us to address the situation and also I understand policy, but we were not under the impression we had to rush through our drinks. They literally like never come check on you and will walk right past your empty glass and not ask if you want another.... So I take my 7 year old on for some fun and games. He puts on two quarters in one game at about same time and it doesn't register the second quarter. I talk to a guy at bar and he says 'well we don't help with user error but this time I'll give you the quarter.' I questioned user error - more that the machine just didn't catch both quarters He actually laughed out loud at me and said 'oh that is definitely user error!!' Simple thoughts. The customer is always right - and laughing in their face will get you a 1 star on yelp. I had another game 'eat two quarters and rather than go mess with the jerk at the bar I just left and decided to write this review. I've been putting quarters on machines like this since 1981 or so - when they were invented - and they have always been regular to ' eat ' quarters. So to laugh at a customer and blame their poorly functioning games on 'user error' is more than offensive - it's also just stupid and says "I want to squeeze every possible quarter out of customers even if they are a 7 old " rather than actually keep their machines working properly. In addition, they left tables dirty for a long time, games had controllers that didn't work, and not once did any server ask me to take any order the whole time I was there I'd never go back and suggest all take business elsewhere. read more

This is a cute idea. The food was decent. We ordered fries and some beer. The pretzel bites were yummy. The games are all quarters but a bit more than I'd want to pay to play them. Just found out about this place. Wish I had know earlier. Great selection of pin ball, arcade, basketball, and skee ball. Arcade has some of the best classics, Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 2. I take challengers. As well as some new additions like TMNT and Injustice. Full menu but I didn't get a chance to eat. Beer selection is good with also a full bar. Several frozen drinks, both alcoholic and non. Was told they have the NFL ticket. Which is amazing since almost no non-corporate do in town. Took my 5 year old to play PAC man and we had a blast. The games here are old school amazing, if you're born in the 80s/90s, you'll love this place. The challenge I see with this place is it's a dive bar disguised as more so the caliber of people you'll deal with depends. Karaoke nights most DJs could work on hyping up the crowd more instead of convincing the rest of us they can sing like it's an American Idol audition. Most the time the bartenders are good just depends on who you get for the night. The tables are often sticky which is crazy gross but then I realize that it's a dive bar. The menu is ok, most of the cooks are on point. I've been in during day & evenings, they're just never consistent. The owners should treat the staff better, the labor force is lacking skilled laborers right now so I suspect why there has always been a high turnover in staff. Games take quarters so bring some. read more
