Years ago my boyfriend at the time and I would stop here for a special treat the fudgey cookie sandwiches. After I moved away, I would still occasionally visit Troy and Cookie Factory was/is always on my list of nostalgic places to visit. It's the perfect place to pick up a cake or chocolate dipped strawberries for an event. Or grab a container of those yellow cookies with fudgey tops to bring home on the airplane. We ordered a wedding cupcake tower from The Cookie Factory after we had sampled one of their wedding cakes at a friend's recent wedding. The cupcakes were delicious, and the presentation of the full tower filled with cupcakes was amazing! We had great customer service when ordering, with helpful hints from the decorator as to what cupcake / frosting combinations would look best. The came and set up the tower at our venue, so we didn't need to do a thing for it to look good. We couldn't be happier with how it turned out! I highly recommend! read more

I was here on May 14, 5:30 pm. I purchased in the store several cookies: PB Brownie, Radio bar, Small Cannoli, Oatmeal Cream, Tiramisu Cake slice, and PBJ cookie sandwich. In my personal opinion, PB Brownie, Radio bar, Oatmeal Cream, and Tiramisu Cake were over sweet. Too much sugar. Even if you do not have diabetes, but concern with sugar consumption, this is definitely not your place. A nuisance was that I purchased a cup of coffee and cookies to try in the store, and they told me they don't have either teaspoons, nor forks, nor plastic knives, so, I needed to eat with hands. When I asked at the end for the bathroom, they said there is no bathroom for customers; only stuff can use their bathroom. This is rude! read more

Cookie factory did a good job replacing the whole in my heart that was left when vanilla bean closed. Fudge fantasies are almost the same taste as the fudge fancies- not quite there but they do the job, and their selection of other pastries, cupcakes and cakes are always fresh and scrumptious. Can't quite give them five stars, only because I've grown up with the other well know bakery in the city, HOWEVER, this is the place for eclairs and fudge fancies. They do have fantastic bread and they have an excellent assortment of pastries and baked goods. We always buy more than we go in for. They never seem to run out of anything, there's always plenty of stock. Staff isn't the friendliest, that's not the biggest deal. They have great dinner rolls. Been here plenty of times. Great quality baking, just like the adverts say. However, I went in with my pregnant partner to get some much-needed nourishment, and we stood at the counter for ten full minutes while five employees, who clearly saw us and walked past us several times, completely ignored us. Someone was talking to a customer on the phone, and when the call was done, she resumed doing nothing as opposed to helping us. Another counted pastries right in front of us and never made eye contact despite us being three feet away from her. The place wasn't busy. No "I'll be right with you" or any of that. We ended up just walking out. This place has great products, but if y'all are just going to fucking stand there, take the glass off the case and make it self-serve. read more

I stopped in and got a peanut butter brownie and some type of truffle brownie, as well as some chocolate chip cookies. It was very clean and beautifully displayed. Service was nice as well. I didn't think what I got was great but definitely satisfied my sweet tooth tonight and it was cheap. .60c a cookie. I'll be back. read more

I don't know how a bakery can run out of Italian bread halfway through the day, especially in upstate NY. The only reason I stopped here for bread is because it was so close to my house. The lack of stock and the inconsistency of the product over the last year will definitely make me drive the extra five minutes to the other local bakery. Maybe they will get there act together soon before they are forced to close the doors. I do enjoy their fudge fancies. The staff wasn't friendly or efficient today either. Less than a month before our wedding we decided to change our wedding cake plans and to go with The Cookie Factory because we cant resist their famous fudge filling. They were able to accommodate us so last minute and made the most amazing wedding cake we have ever tasted! One of our favorite things they do is give you four cupcakes to taste at home which allows you not to feel pressured. We were able to try the different combinations and found our favorite- the famous fudge filling with a thin layer of raspberry jam on their delicious white cake! We did our consultation with Christina and she completely understood exactly what we were looking for and our vision for our wedding cake. She answered any and all questions we had without hesitation. Our cake had a floral topper and loose flowers along the side of the cake. When we picked up the flowers from the florist that morning we were not pleased with how they looked. Christina could tell we were very stressed about this and ensured us she would fix it for us and make the cake look beautiful- even if that meant adding some of her own fake flowers from the shop. She was able to clean up the flowers, added some color, and arranged them so they looked beautiful! The cake tasted amazing and all of our guests loved the flavor combination we chose. The one surprise we weren't expecting was the extra cake that was delivered. Very thoughtful and much appreciated!!! Instead of saving the top layer of our wedding cake we decided to save the extra cake and cant wait to cut into it next year on our anniversary! Thank you so much for a job well done!!! I have always loved their fudge fancies and their raspberry cookies sold in the supermarkets. So I was expecting something extraordinary. We bought their certificate on Living Social. Thankfully, we didn't have to pay full price because I was very disappointed. Their eclairs were FROZEN! and that's after being out for a few hours at home. The garbage bread was overpriced and horrible; there wasn't anything in it! We will not be making another trip to Troy for The Cookie Factory. We will patronize our Italian bakeries here in Schenectady. read more

Very dissatisfied with this bakery. The staff from the owners to the counter help are very rude and unprofessional. Also the cake decorator is very uneducated in her so called field of decorating cakes. My daughter purchased her wedding cake from here and a groom's cake. The cakes were nothing at all like the pictures they were provided. Also several of our guests complained about the taste or lack of it after the reception. Their cakes are very expensive and you certainly don't get what you paid for. I won't be returning and I'm sure the owners won't even care. They made no attempt to right this wrong. This is my favorite bakery! Everything is so fresh and delicious! We ordered a whipped cream strawberry cake for my daughters birthday last weekend and it was awesome, fresh strawberries! Amazing! I also love to get their pizza dough, cookies and pasteries. Oh and the bread is the best! read more

The cakes are good, but make sure you look carefully before buying. I just got a cake where the cookie was cracked, the icing was not neatly done, they messed up a 4 alphabet name too on a birthday cake. Great rolls but it seems like anytime i get there they are out or low on many of their various rolls. This never happens at Bella Napoli or Schuyler. I dearly love cookies, cakes and such but it has been my experience that this place has by far the worst tasting cookies around. Their fudge fancies are far below the quality of Bella Napoli or even Perrotta's in Wynantskill. I paid $2 for a gingerbread man yesterday and my 10 year old grandson spit it out so i tried it and it neither tasted like molasses or ginger so i don't what they were trying for. Was in Albany for a business trip and knew that I had to bring home some half moon cookies. Asked one of the people I work with and they suggested the cookie factory. So I came in on Wednesday to get half moon cookies to take home with me to Cincinnati. Ohio. The ladies were so nice and sweet and even wrapped the box for me so they would last and make it on the flight. I flew them from Albany to Cincinnati and got them home and they were still as good as the one I ate on Wednesday. read more

They were so helpful to me on picking the right size, flavors and design for my son's first birthday away from home. They delivered it to his fraternity and the guys said it was really delish and exactly the right size, so all is good! The cookie factory even called me on a day they were closed to be sure we got the order right. I ordered a cake for my boyfriend's 30th birthday after having birthday cakes from The Cookie Factory before that were delicious. I called on a Thursday, and asked to pick up the cake on the following Friday. I ordered a large cake to feed 30 people, fudge marble with fudge filling, and buttercream frosting. The Wednesday before the party I get a phone call from The Cookie Factory saying that they have my cake there, I was supposed to pick it up last Friday and what would I like them to do with it...and I am writing it much nicer than the rude woman on the phone said it. I told the woman that I was unsure what she was talking about as I was supposed to pick the cake up in two days, not last Friday. The woman argued with me until I told her the date I was supposed to pick it up (July 26th) at which time she must have looked at her handy dandy order book and realized that in fact she had the dates mixed up... after receiving no apology she asked for my credit card to hold the cake...to which I replied that I wasn't going to give a credit card for a week old cake. She then told me that she wasn't going to give me an old cake and they would bake a new one...ok great. So Friday comes, I go into the bakery to pick up the cake...they can't find it. Now I'm starting to panic, I am also thinking they probably froze my cake...anyways, after looking for ten minutes, asking different people, the girl finally comes back with the cake. I asked her if it was a fresh cake, to which she of course replied that it was...but I have to say, after paying $45 I was very disappointed. The cake was dry and fell apart when cut, and it was supposed to be fudge marble but it looked like a white cake. I most likely will not be getting any future cakes here. read more

THIS PLACE SUCKS!!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! Only reason they get 1 star is because I couldn't leave a ZERO! I ordered a cake With a pic of a screen from the movie Shrek and 3 cookies the same way for my 2 year old son birthday, they told me they can do it with no problem, all I had to do was email the pic and they can put it on the cake and cookies, long story short... they called me the morning of, told me they never got my email of the pic, which was the first lie! because 1, I sent it twice and 2, if they didn't get the email I would have gotten a receipt from the email saying It didn't go through! Then she says, we can do a head shot of shrek, is that ok? so I agree to it and asked will I still be able to pick it up early? she says yes, you can still pick it up at 7am, mind you it's 6:45 am as were speaking on the phone, so I knew something was wrong, in my mind I'm thinking your gonna make this cake & 3 cookies, box it all up within 15 mins.... anyway.. I get there and the whole scenario changes, here's how this B.S convo went: I'm sorry but our scanner broke and we were unable to Put the pic of shrek on the cake. So what's on the cake? Let me see... Well we put some balloons and his name.... HUH? And we made a dozen of cookies that we were able to get the scanner to print the shrek head shot on, that's when it broke... What? I don't want that cake, I specifically ordered the shrek cake because my son is obsessed with the movie,that looks nothing like it, (The cake looked sloppy, like a 15min rush job would look and so did the cookies) So to compensate their fuck up (excuse me) they offer me to "PAY" for the 3 sloppy looking cookies i ordered and they'll give me the other 9, as much as I wanted to lose it and tell them to shove all 12 of those cookies, I put aside my pride, kept my composure, thought about my son, I had to bring him something, so I purchased the 3 cookies that looked like my 2 yr old baked and left ONLY because it was last min and couldn't get a" REAL BAKERY" to do it in such short notice. I wasn't looking for anything free, but if I was the owner, that customer who I've wasted their time, disappointed, lied to and couldn't produce anything they ask me to, I would've just given that sloppy looking cake and all away for free to show our sorrow and appreciation!
