Lucas Confectionary has such a warm, inviting vibe all around. It may not be a one stop dinner spot, but it is an amazing pre-dinner stop for some drinks and appetite inducing snacks. With the extremely limited menu and offerings, you expect everything to be thoughtful and serve a purpose, and they deliver. For my drink, I ordered one of the red blends and it was very good for sipping along side a board of charcuterie and cheese My small group opted for the "pick three" option for a board. We ordered the manchego, smoked duck breast, and the pâté. It was a superb plate. The manchego was salty and funky, offered with dried apricots. The pate was rich and fatty, offered with whole grain mustard, pickled onions and cornichons. The smoked duck was offered with a blueberry-mustard compote. Also all accompanied with some nice fresh bread. Each flavor served a purposed and made for several tasty bites that piqued my interest. For a pre-dinner stop, I was very impressed. Also, sad to see this location absolutely empty on a Saturday evening. Lucas Confectioary is a perfect spot for an intimate date night, meeting friends, an after work drink, girls night, etc. Highly recommend a visit here!

It came with a lot of food. It included eggs, Simit ( a Turkish sesame bagel), grapes, toast, honey, olives and cream cheese. I also ordered a Turkish coffee which is a little stronger than what I'm use to. It hit the spot. Service is fast and friendly. The restaurant small but clean and cute. It looks as though the owners might have added a table. There are three or four tables in all. There's a new partition in the kitchen providing a little more distance between customers and those working on food prep. Gone are the beautiful ornate gold detailed Turkish dinner plates and teacups. I found them charming though not practical. I sort of miss them but they looked like heirloom items which wouldn't be appropriate for day-to-day use. They've been replaced by simple white dish-ware. Much more cost effective. FYI. There are no restrooms for customer use. That issue never came up for me but an older couple came in looking for a restroom and the owner advised them to go to the fast food restaurant down the street. As for the food, it was every bit as good as I expected. Some things don't change. I took the leftovers home and made another meal of it the next day.

It had been a while since I had been to Dutch Udder, and they have expanded but still offer the same great homemade ice cream. I went for a tropical pick - some beach. It was a fun flavor! I wish I got more ice cream to go. It is a little pricy at $5.75 for a kiddie size, but the quality is there to back it up. The expanded seating area was so cute! I loved the decor and cute seating. It was the perfect area to meet up with some friends for an hour. Every time I venture out to Troy, I love it a little more. Come get some ice cream!

This place is OK if you want to stop in and pick something up, but don't use them if you need product for a specific purpose at a specific time. I placed an order, a week in advance, at the Loudonville store and I paid for it, in full, at the time I placed the order. The order was for Chinese Almond Cookies and pre-packaged mint fudge fantasies that I needed for gift bags for a Christmas event the following day. I returned a week later to pick up my order and the young girls manning the shop looked at me like I had three heads. No order anywhere to be found. Lots of shuffling of papers and phone calls. I stood there for thirty minutes only to be told the obvious. No order. They told me I could go to Troy and they could fill the order there. Keep in mind that this is the day before my event and I have a million other things to do. I go to Troy and they bring out my order. They've got the Chinese Almond Cookies, but instead of pre-packaged fudge fantasies they've given me two boxes of ten cookies. NOT what I ordered, folks! Again, lots of looking at me like I am the one confused. They end up giving me frozen fudge fantasies, which I agree to because at this point I am desperate. They make a point of telling me that they are giving me full boxes, which would end up being MORE than I ordered. Like they are doing me some sort of favor. Oh, how I wish I had checked before I headed home. I open the package and the product is un-useable; freezer burned and (just to add insult to injury) they shorted me by six. So, another phone call to Troy where I am told there is nothing they can do and the manager will be in tomorrow and I can talk to her then. Unbelievable! Especially when I find out that the owner was actually on site but wouldn't come to the phone because he was "busy baking". They ended up then sending me to the Clifton Park store where they substituted something else that I then had to go and purchase wrapping for because it wasn't pre-packaged as I ordered. It took me FOUR HOURS to get this order from these people. Not counting the time spent packing things that were ordered prepackaged. At one point I was told to leave my contact info because they were going to give me a ten dollar gift certificate for my trouble. WOW! A whole ten dollars??? Needless to say that never arrived. DO NOT ORDER from this business if it is really important that you receive your items exactly the way you ordered it and exactly when you need. There is no excuse for this kind of service. read more

The service here leaves a lot to be desired--not everyone knows what's on their menu or willing to go out of their way to clarify (recently in trying to order a challah loaf, I was told by the girl she wasn't sure if they made it (to which I already knew that they did) and said instead that she would take the order and just hope for the best when I wanted to come in for it. And even when I asked her for someone to call me she just repeated back the hope for the best schpeal), no one can find your order (same situation with the challah bread---they couldn't find my order for about 10 minutes when we went to pick it up even though I had read back the order on the second attempt three days later to order the bread), no one rushes up to help you and minimally acknowledges you until you've been standing there like a goon for a few minutes, and there really isn't a great system to keeping people in order of who came in first. But, with that said--their traditional vanilla and chocolate cakes are very good and their buttercream is also quite good. Their challah bread is worth the hassle with the employees because it's eggy and tasty and makes for wonderful grilled sandwiches and french toast casseroles, their cookies are tasty (although their fudge fantasies don't quite hit the same high notes as their family with Vanilla Bean), muffins are tasty, and their biscotti have been enjoyed by many of our friends that we bring them too (although their chocolate biscotti are a little soft). Their breads are also very, very good. Ciabatta, Italian, Tuscan rolls--really can't go wrong with any of them. Make for excellent sauce dunkers, sandwich bread, and toast. I like that they are trying to get into pastry, breakfast, bread, and basically do a little bit of everything and I like that I can pretty much walk here and it's local. read more

I really wanted to love this place - It's in a great location in clifton park and cute inside... everything looked great upon walking in, but when I left and tried each of the cookies I was pretty disappointed! This is what I got: * Sugar cookies (Were not good at all?? Very dry, hard, stale, tasteless) also the ridiculous amount of granulated sugar on top was just gross * PB cookies (Not bad, still hard & stale, I've had much better) * Chocolate chip cookies (Tasted so unfresh, and just were just not even worth the calories) * Chinese almond cookies (These were the best out of the bunch) This was frustrating because I spent a decent amount of money on them to bring to a family gathering & I pretty much had to toss them all out. Maybe their cakes and other goods are better, but as far as the cookies go they were all not fresh and very tasteless...I have had better at almost every other bakery I've ever been too :( read more
