I was in the shopping mall picking up sandwiches from Li's Banh Mi. The wait was about 29 minutes so I walked around the building and saw The Cookie Lady. I like all types of cookies, shall, big, thin, thick, soft or crunchy. The Cookie Lady is primarily a thin and very crunchy cookie. I picked out two bags of cookies: Oatmeal Raisin ($11.50 per bag) and a bag of imperfect cookies which slightly less expensive ($8.50 per bag). The imperfect cookies were chocolate chip cookies. They are nice and crunchy, sweet and very small chocolate chips so you don't really taste them. The oatmeal cookies were thin, crunchy and sweet. I couldn't really taste the oatmeal. I liked the crunchiness and sweetness of both cookies. If you like thin and crunchy cookies, The Cookie Lady is definitely a cookie shop you will want to try. read more

Came across this store while we were at another japanese cafe nearby. The sign caught my eye as I wanted to pick up some eats that are local and support small businesses in Hawaii. We went in and I knew already that I was going to leave with multiple items. The store was very open and colorful and had a great selection of different flavors. We were able to try and sample some from the lovely staff and decided on the corn flakes and mac nut ones. Looking for crispy, flaky, and buttery homemade-type cookies? Look no further than The Cookie Lady Hawaii, located on the 3rd floor of 808 Sheridan! Its original owner and baker, Dale Muramoto, first opened the Cookie Lady Hawaii in 2009 in Waipahu. She was a career woman, having worked in dental offices, banks, credit union, and even worked as a cafeteria worker and cleaned planes at the airport. And she loved to bake, as it was her hobby, as well as to relieve stress. She made these treats for her two young children and also made goodie baskets for friends on special occasions. As her daughter, Terilyn Lee, grew older, she suggested that she open her own business. Over the years, The Cookie Lady Hawaii offered about 14 varieties of delicious cookies that included: chocolate chip, shortbread mac nut, lemon, peanut butter, cornflake, oatmeal, furikake mix, shortbread arare, and sprinkled. Dale used her personal family recipes that were refined over time, and as a result, her cookies were made out of love. At age 69, Dale decided to retire. With the thought of ending the business, one of her loyal customers came to the rescue. The business was sold to Maiko and Keijiro Ushijima during the summer of 2021. The Ushijima's had moved to HI from Japan in 2017 due to Keijiro's job, and Maiko's love for these cookies prompted her to take an interest in the business. She noted that she had taken these cookies back to Japan for omiyage, and the recipients loved them! There was a condition, however, with the selling of the business. The same recipes were to be used in making the original flavors, and that the cookies were to be made out of love. The Ushijima's agreed to maintain the same inventory, but moved the business to 808 Sheridan to a more centralized location in Honolulu and to broaden its selection of cookie offerings. Lilikoi and matcha flavors were added. And you may even find Dale periodically assisting Maiko at the shop, offering her assistance and quality control skills. Look for these addictive cookies in its signature red bags, plastic jars, and in sampler bags. Simple party favors can also be requested. I've tried the lemon cookies, which is noted as the most popular flavor. They were delicious, light, crispy, not overly sweet, and sprinkled with powdered sugar with a hint of lemony taste. So easy to eat the whole bag by yourself! The store is clean and spacious, with shelves displaying the many different flavors of cookies. You'll meet friendly and personable Maiko, who eagerly wants to assist you. She is most happy to provide a 10% kamaaina discount off of the red bags only. "Me want cookie!" - Cookie Monster Now located on the third floor of the 808 Center, The Cookie Lady Hawaii, is in the perfect position for us townies to get more well-known locally-made crisp cookies that, for years, have shown up as gifts, family, or office gatherings, potlucks, or picnics. The Cookie Lady Hawaii was formerly located in Waipahū. Still, we had never been to her shop, yet we've enjoyed annual assortments of this business' cookies at former office parties or as Christmas gifts. We stumbled upon this relocation when we considered having lunch at the 808 Center and serendipitously ran into a friend who changed our cuisine choice from Szechuan to Vietnamese. As we climbed the stairs to the top floor of the 808 Center, we were "greeted" by a wooden A-frame sandwich board advertising The Cookie Lady Hawaii's location at the east corner end. We were more driven by our hunger for a savory meal but kept this business in mind for dessert but vowed to return. A single salesperson/cashier was assisting a customer when we entered the store, so we just browsed the shelves to see what flavors were available. If you're looking for soft, chewy cookies, you will not find them here. This business' specialty is CRISP and crunchy textured drop cookies. The cookies have a homemade flavor and are sold in various container sizes by weight. The saleswoman asked if we had flavor preferences and offered to assist us with our selections. We eventually chose a bag each of Lemon-Flavored (5.5 oz) and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip (6 oz) cookies priced at $10.35 apiece. Again, since the cookies are SOLD BY WEIGHT, don't expect the same amount or size of cookies of flavored cookies as those with nuts, dried fruits, mochi crunch, or chocolate chips. But the cookies are all so tasty that they'll disappear quickly no matter how many are in each container. This shop also has tables and chairs where you can sit and enjoy your cookies with a hot or cold beverage from their menu. The cute shop is currently located on the third floor of the 808 Sheridan Center - the same level as Sushi Murayama and Le's Bahn Mi. The girl working there told me they were all sold out for the day, and they'll stock them again tomorrow afternoon. That is until the girl kindly asked when my flight is and chatted with someone in the kitchen. She told me they can have cornflake cookies ready when they open tomorrow at 10am. I found this business by fluke when looking for little Christmas gifts to give to friends. The store is located on the third floor of the building- just go up the stairs to the top floor. Stock was a little scarce given that it was a week till Christmas. They were sold out of their monthly flavor, but I decided on the cornflake cookies since that seemed to be the popular flavor everyone reviews. I bought two bags- one for us, and one to give away to a friend. They were very delicious! Definitely crispy kine cookies, but delightfully so! After making a trip to the Waipahu transfer station (dump) I decided to hunt down this cookie shop which I noticed got very good reviews. It is a few streets back from the highway and easy to miss as it is literally in a warehouse. The storefront is little more than two sets of shelving and a cashier with an ipad. I picked up all of the popular flavors including lemon, cornflake and almond. I was not impressed by any of them unfortunately. They tasted rather bland and had nothing special that I could notice aside from the nice packaging. I can make better cookies than those. As soon as you step foot in Cookie Lady, you are in cookie heaven. I love cookies and walking in the entrance of Cookie Lady with that wonderful fresh baked smell makes me feel like Cookie Monster. After that taste, there was no turning back. I haven't tried all of the flavors but of the ones I've tried they are delicious. The lemon ones are the best to me. They are extra buttery and lemony and sprinkled with white powdered sugar. If you're not into the lemon, the cornflake ones are also very good. Cookie Lady makes all kinds of concotions of cookies that I've never seen at other cookie vendors. They have fruitty pebbles, arare, or furikake. We used the Cookie Lady cookies for our rehearsal dinner favors a few years ago. Cookie Lady sells in all sorts of sizes. The one we got came in an individual pack of two cookies. We have half of our guests with lemon and half of them cornflake. Not many people at the party heard about them but after they tried it, they were very interested to know where it was located. Their prices are very reasonable. I got a whole bag of 10 cookies for $6.50 versus going to Cookie Corner and getting a cup for about $9.00. And what's even better is that every week in Midweek they have a coupon. If you buy three bags, you get a fourth bag free. What a deal! I got that deal this week. It was wonderful. Cookie Lady is a little far from town, but I work in Waipahu so it's pretty much down the road. I've read other reviews that said they sell it at Carousel Candyland, but I bet it's not the same. When I hear people say they've never heard of or tried The Cookie Lady cookies before, it complete shocks me. I love cookies--soft and chewy and crispy. I love em all! But if you're all about crispy, melt in your mouth, flavorful cookies, you need these cookies in your life. I can honestly say that these cookies are my favorite and the best cookies I've ever had. Like ever. I know that's a huge claim, but it's true. I live in town and I never ever venture out towards the west side. But some times I'll justify making a trip out that way so I can go pick up some cookies from The Cookie Lady because they're that good. However, I recently learned that Carousel Candy in Kahala Mall now sells The Cookie Lady cookies. I haven't taken a trip to Kahala Mall yet, but I'm definitely curious to see what they have in stock. But one caveat that I forgot to mention when I posted this review earlier is that it costs a little more at Carousel Candy than if you purchase directly from The Cookie Lady warehouse in Waipahu. I don't know exactly how much more, but something to keep in mind. Their most popular flavor is the lemon and their second most popular is the cornflake. So far I have tried their lemon, fruity pebbles, chocolate chip, furikake mix, and cornflake. All were amazing! I recently found out that on Saturdays, The Cookie Lady makes mini breads! This Saturday (08/19/2017) I was able to get a banana apple blueberry bread. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm pretty sure it'll be tasty! I discovered these delectable delights from an advertisement for the shop's Grand Opening back in March and decided to check it out and have been addicted since! I was able to try the "Lemon ", "Corn Flake", and "Chocolate Brownie" and they were all EXCELLENT! The "Lemon" and "Corn Flake" both MELT IN YOUR MOUTH while the "Chocolate Brownie" is like the BROWNIE EDGES of a pan of freshly baked brownies!!!! The charming shop is located in a newly developed, industrial neighborhood in Waipahu (near Golden Coin Restaurant) and as soon as you approach the entrance, the aroma of these goodies will instantly draw you in =) I was recently able to go back to the store and met the "The Cookie Lady" herself! She is perhaps one of the sweetest, most personable women you'll ever meet =). She was kind enough to let me try the "Mochi Krunch" and I ended up leaving with a new favorite cookie! While i was sick at home today, i had a very strong craving for some deserts. I wasn't craving anything in particular. i Know, not shave ice or anything cold and i came across the cookie lady in yelp on my iphone app. It was about 415pm and i said better go before they close. I slapp on some clothes and try to find the place. I only live about 5 minutes away but got lost finding the place. Once my google maps told me where it was, i found it. I step inside and surprise to find the owner there cleaning up and closing for the day. She let me sample the almond to let me know whats the texture of her cookies. We recently discovered the Cookie Lady Hawaii at her bakery in a warehouse-like building, in a newer, light-industrial area of Waipahu, near the Filipino Community Center. Because her addictive cookies are not mass-produced and are literally made by hand, she cannot produce sufficient quantities to wholesale. As a result, the only place to get her cookies is at this Waipahu location. The good-sized cookies are sold in bags (around 10 cookies per bag?) for $5.00 each. They're also available in large plastic jars. The varieties topped with breakfast cereals - Fruity Pebbles, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes - are my favorites. The Mochi Krunch and Lemon are really good, as well. I believe these are all the same basic cookie, but with different toppings. It's a light and crunchy melt-in-your-mouth cookie. I usually like Peanut Butter cookies, but I thought that her Peanut Butter and Peanut Butter/Chocolate Chip cookies were too hard and crunchy, without the melt-in-your-mouth quality of her other cookies. Likewise, her Chocolate Brownie Cookie (a special Flavor of the Month) was also quite hard. Because they're relatively new (open since March 2010), and not widely available, these cookies make excellent gifts, whether for friends on the Mainland, Neighbor Islands or even on Oahu. We got the same reaction from everyone we gave these cookies to - they couldn't stop eating them. It's well worth the drive to Waipahu, however, unless you already plan to be in the area, I would highly recommend calling the bakery before making the drive (30+ minutes from Honolulu under normal traffic conditions). These cookies are PERFECTION!!! They taste like they're fresh out of the oven...perfect crispness! I thought nobody could top my mom and aunty's cookies! Shhh...please don't tell them my secret or my ass will be grass! My fave cookies: Cornflake, Rice Krispies, Lemon, Almond, Mochi Crunch I still have to try the Trix cookie!!! It looks so festive with those balls of color! For now these are only available at the Waipahu location. It is tucked away in the clean, modern industrial area near Wholesale Unlimited's main location and Fujifilm. You should call ahead of time to see if they have what you're looking for before you drive there. And on special occassions like Mother's Day, go early so that you have more choices! The cookies are available in small bags for about $5 and larger jars for about $20. I think you can request favor-sized ones, too.
