Fat Cat has a great stage, and they have great sound for bands! Let's talk about their cocktails! Are they spendy? Sure...but you're also downtown, so really, the prices are pretty in line with the standard. $16 for a really well crafted cocktail isn't bad...and I haven't had a cocktail here that I didn't like! Just be cautious...they go down quick! We've always had top notch service here, the bartenders are friendly, fun, and knowledgeable about drinks! I managed to see bands such as Bayside, I Am The Avalanche, Killswitch Engage, Ville Valo, Static-X, Cannibal Corpse, and many many more acts over the years and I wanted to make sure I left this place the positive review I think it deserves. Overall, The House of Blues is a top notch venue and one of the best for alternative music in Las Vegas. Would it be better if it wasn't locatd in the middle of the massive Mandalay Bay Casino? I really had high hopes because I enjoy some good Cajun-style seafood and their menu (especially during weekends) offers great variety from Frog Legs and Oysters "Rockafella" to Gumbo and Seafood Boil. Right now (5/11) he's performing as Bobby Darrin in Legends in Concert at Harrahs, but when he's not busy doing that, he plays energetic old-time Vegas big band, jazz and lounge standards with his AWESOME band, the Swank Set. Their horn section is out of this world! Vargas and the Swank Set are like a '50s lounge act on speed...like Richard Cheese meets Freddie Mercury meets Willy Wonka. THAT awesome! Vargas is the most magnetic, energetic, wildly frenetic entertainer I have EVER seen...I can't believe he's not headlining his own lounge at one of the major casinos. He's THAT good -- really! If you get the chance...check him out! He's good as Bobby Darrin, but he's even better on his own with the Swank Set. Past venues have included the Suncoast, the Bootlegger Bistro and the Fontana Lounge at Bellagio... I personally think the bigwigs at Caesars should let him play at least one night a week at Cleopatra's Barge -- he'd be perfect in that old-school room. My issue is these are not the front row seats that we paid for and reserved & the venue was not first come first serve. The owner's wife refused to honor our reserved seats and made accommodations for the two women who sat in the middle of a 6 person couch. It would be one thing if our tickets didn't have a seat number.... We've been to this venue at least 6x before coming to Ikons of Rock for the first time. I couldn't even enjoy the show because the lack of hospitality really killed the vibe for me.
