On our Vegas trip this weekend, we were looking for karaoke on the strip so we didn't have to worry about driving or Uber.. thankfully we saw this place driving to our hotel! It has a very relaxed vibe.. order at the bar, find a seat, sing along! I'm used to karaoke bars that have private rooms, but it's an experience seeing people sing in front of the crowd! My husband and I shared a huge fishbowl cocktail that was deliciously dangerous, but the unexpected star of the show were their fries! I've never seen a potato cut like that and it's something I've never seen - imagine a potato wedge spiral that's not too thick, perfectly crunchy. We got the Parmesan truffle one and the sauce was so good! Cheese curds were also good! Some notes I picked up on.. it looks like you can reserve tables, bathrooms are the public restrooms outside, and it turns into 21 and older after 10 pm. On the Saturday night that we went, they had regular karaoke on stage with the song's music, then they switched over to karaoke with a live band which was pretty cool! Walking by this place I was a little nervous to go inside but you could see from the corner the people on stage... and they were meowing their hearts out so I pushed everyone inside and I'm glad I did. We were able to sit on bar stools facing the stage. The servers came quickly but we already had our drinks in hand. It was a karaoke bar! We came when it was 10 minutes till last call. I celebrated my friend's birthday here and overall it turned into a really fun and memorable night with a unique twist on the usual karaoke experience. We had reserved seating, which I would strongly recommend if you're going with a group or celebrating something special. The place fills up and without a reservation it can be a bit tricky to find good seats. If you don't have one, it's definitely smart to arrive early to secure a decent spot and get comfortable before things get busy. One important thing to know is that you don't really get a set time for when you'll go on stage. You sign up for songs, but doesn't show the list, so it's best to put your song in as early as possible if you actually want a chance to perform. The night has two different vibes depending on the time. Before 9:30 PM, it's regular DJ-led karaoke where people go up and sing with tracks. After 9:30 PM, it switches into live band karaoke, which is honestly one of the coolest parts of the entire experience. The band plays behind you while you sing, and it completely changes the energy in a really exciting way. I've never seen anything quite like the system they use for the band--it feels creative, well thought out, and way more immersive than standard karaoke. The MC was another highlight. They were energetic, funny, and really good at keeping the crowd engaged between songs. It helped keep the momentum going and made even the downtime entertaining. Drinks were also surprisingly affordable for Las Vegas, and the scorpion bowl in particular was a standout--huge, shareable, and actually really good. It's definitely a fun group drink if you're there for a celebration. The staff overall were friendly and kept things moving smoothly even when it got busy. The atmosphere itself reminded me of a lively New York-style bar--energetic, social, and a little chaotic in a good way, but still organized enough that things didn't feel overwhelming. There's no cover charge, which is a big plus considering the entertainment value you get throughout the night. I went on a Sunday night and the place was crowded but we were able to find a seat. The bartenders were great! Attentive and personable. Unfortunately the karaoke was not great. We were there for an hour and a half and the karaoke host sang two songs. That's fine when you have a small crowd. But I was still number 18 on the list. Which means there were a lot of people waiting to perform. We finally just left without singing. It was very disappointing. What a fun new karaoke spot! Have been there twice in the past couple weeks and really enjoyed drinks & songs with friends. The karaoke hosts and setup are great. Love that they have karaoke all the time (not just certain nights/times). Good drink selection, including Dole Whip and other non-alcoholic options, which I appreciate. I do hope in the future they'll consider adding wine to the menu (even cans would be fine). The place does seem to have some growing pains (the servers/staff seem unclear about who should be covering which area, they forgot to put out "reserved" signs on tables so me and my friends had to move from where we'd sat, weird transitions when they're switching over from the "Bar Ipad" to the QR codes for song selection...) but still good times overall and staff were very friendly and trying their best. They have regular karaoke most of the time and live band karaoke starting at 9:30pm Fri/Sat I believe...it's a nice touch but maybe overkill. I feel like regular karaoke is fine and having to pay a full band each week might be too hard to sustain. But I like the attempt at least! Get there early or give it up - if you haven't put in a song by about 9:30, you are not getting up. That's not a dig at the place, it's just the facts - this place is popular, and by 9:30 there will be 30-40 songs in front of you. I went three nights in a row and only got up once on both the first and third nights. But that third night ... Live F'in Band Karaoke!! What a blast! The band is amazing, the tech super-helpful, and I had a spectacular experience! The crowd is into it, the staff are great (but ASK for a water, don't walk around the rope and grab one yourself. Trust me.), the service is reasonably quick. Prices are not bad. Definitely a 5-star karaoke venue! Go, get a drink, be cool, have fun. In that order. Be well! read more

Originally a 5 star spot, but now I realized 5 hours for a song in a rotation where people dont spend $400 and tips about $200 get skipped by 5 folks singing 5 time each is a bit frustrating. If ya don't post the 5 star review, then take an honest 3 star. Cuz the staff is 5 star, but karaoke management, sound quality, + is a 0 compared to five bars with smoke and crazy patrons. Food and drinks are great. Please recognize staff and management but after 18 visits of waiting 5 hrs plus is a whole lot. What an excellent venue! We came here for some afternoon karaoke on a Saturday. The place was busy but not too crowded. The venue is super cute, and the cocktails were delicious! Our server was incredibly attentive. The karaoke menu is online , you scan a barcode and it brings up their system, you put your name in and pick your song (they had everything our group wanted to sing, and they use Karafun if you are familiar with that platform) The KJ was engaging and got the crowd going! The only thing I didn't like was that most places will show the next couple of singers that are coming up, they don't, so if you have to use the restroom ( which is outside of the venue and around the escalators) then you could miss your turn. I've been to Vegas plenty of times, but I was with three people who had never been - we knew the strip wasn't necessarily our thing but we knew we had to check it out because we were there. Well, that lasted about 20 minutes before we wanted to find a place we would have fun. We happened to spot the sign for Smelly Cat and it looked perfect. And it was. We spent the whole night here. Until 2AM. We didn't want to leave it was SO FUN. First of all, a tito's and ginger was $12. We sipped these all night. Their bar was pretty quick, which was surprising for how many people there were. There was a lot of seating and they tried to be very accommodating. The business felt like they were happy to just have people coming in. The songs were awesome, all night long. I'm not sure if they filter through them but we LOVED it. We were singing and dancing along to everything. It was seriously the best. We didn't expect much being on the strip, but this spot in a gem. read more

As a starter, I am an advent karaoke singer. I've been to Korea been to Japan even here in the US. I love me a good dive bar karaoke scene. Here's the problem. The band will always be great they take requests as they come. The issue is that they may be bias. They typically only Play white songs. And if you think you are going to have your song played, good good luck! People with money to throw will request their song and repeat that same process. They take 100$ for one song and best believe they will take it. Honestly you'd better going to some other dive bar you will have better luck. Staff is awesome so I can't blame them. Notes - stop the band from continuously taking $100 tips from the same group of people, AKA a father of a family paying off the band for their drunk sons to sing. - actually catch up with the times and use a system to request songs instead of emailing. Who emails requested song these days? - be more inviting of different types of music, not just country or Caucasian music. What a great find. We were walking home after a night in the area and walked through this delightful little village of shops and food stalls/bars. We were drawn in by some very mid-average karaoke so decided to spend some time here. The spot itself is pretty cool. I very much enjoyed the decor (the instrument table legs, for example, the overly flowered piano, etc.). The karaoke is pretty sophisticated compared to the joints I may be used to. The drink menu is a skosh confusing at first until the bartender broke it down into names of drinks I had heard before ("this drink is really a margarita", etc.). The drink prices are a skosh on the higher end but I think very standard for the strip and the service was super pleasant and quick. Definitely worth a stop in, especially if you understand the reference for its namesake. read more

When I asked about ordering food, I was told the cook was on break--and no one could say when they'd return. Service was slow and disconnected. I ordered at 7:49 PM and didn't receive my food until 8:15. + MENU: Tiny and underwhelming. I ordered popcorn chicken and what I assumed were fries, but instead got thick, dry potato wedges. The chicken pieces were oddly inconsistent--some whole, some chopped up. For $15, it felt like a lazy bar snack pretending to be a meal. + DRINK(s)//FOOD(s)//SHOW(s): Drink came in a plastic cup with a lemon slice. Nothing memorable. Karaoke was mid-transition when I arrived, and it showed. One host finished, the bar took over with an iPad system, then a new host came in with their own karaoke collection. The whole process was messy and unprofessional. Guests were left confused on how to even participate. + OTHERS: The kitchen is literally behind a curtain next to the bar--like, directly behind where drinks are being poured. It felt sketchy and raised serious questions about food safety and sanitation. At this price point and in Vegas of all places, that setup is unacceptable. + OVERALL EXPERIENCE [Rating 1/5]: Came after work hoping to unwind. Left wishing I'd gone to literally any other restaurant. Between the slow service, chaotic karaoke system, and a hidden kitchen behind a velvet curtain, this place is more novelty than quality. Tucked away on the strip, Smelly Cat is such a cool new find! It's got everything karaoke, great food, an awesome cocktail and mocktail menu, plus TVs for sports if you're trying to catch a game. We had the brisket fries and they were amazing crispy, loaded, and super flavorful. The vibe is super quirky in the best way, with tables made out of old drums that totally fit the scene. The karaoke setup was awesome. The karaoke DJ was funny, welcoming, and kept the Sunday afternoon crowd (about 20 of us) hyped and engaged even during the slower parts of the day. What really stood out was the hospitality. The staff was constantly checking in, making sure we were having a good time and enjoying everything. This location has potential but they need to get their live bar under control. I requested a dirty martini, it was not well made. I didn't like that they took it from the waitresses tab. After that, I didn't get served by her anymore. I'm assuming it's to avoid making anymore drinks she might have to pay for. My only qualm is she didn't say someone else would help me. They have live band karaoke some nights where you get to sing with a band. When people aren't singing the staff jumps in and will start singing. They do have bites, I love the truffle fries! It was hard to see the performers up on stage. It seemed like a lot of people that were regulars, which is cool. We put our name in and waited 90 minutes, but never came up which is fine. I love the fact it's called Smelly Cat! The decor is cute. A lot of IG worthy areas to take photos. We got there at 8pm with no reservation and got to sit wherever we wanted. Service was good, never had an empty drink. As for the karaoke request it was kind of confusing. If you put a request to sing a song the queue gets deleted once the band started. Then you had to resubmit. This older gentleman went on stage 3 times and played dumb he didn't know how to use technology to add his name to the queue and went up and sang. He tipped the band each time so they didn't stop him. I think they should start charging people per song they want to sing instead of allowing people to be stealing turns. read more

Coming to Las Vegas for a weekend trip is a blast, but really only for a weekend. Gambling can only entertain me for a short while, so I'm always looking for what else there is to do. Karaoke! Smelly Cat Karaoke offers that reprieve from the windowless rooms of spinning lights, and has a local vibe in the heart of the strip. We wandered in during a festival weekend and were pleasantly surprised that this place was packed to the brim. There are small tables in several levels of stadium seating, and stools at the bar. We made our way to the bar and ordered drinks off their printed menu. The bar must have been gearing up for Halloween because both of our drinks were almost disgustingly sweet, and literally had candy floating in them (one had a ring pop and the other had cotton candy). While I love a good dessert I'd recommend ordering something else. Pricing for the drinks was average for the Vegas Strip area, which means expensive. Determined to enjoy ourselves, we put in to sing and were pleased to see our names scrolling on the television. I do love how clearly you can see how long until you're up to karaoke. People had left the bar, which had the poor KJ on the stage calling out names for people who weren't there. Mercifully, no one named Seymour Butts had requested to sing, but it was still a little awkward. PSA to take your name off the list when you leave! Bartenders were friendly enough and the staff gets up there to sing as well! That was fun to see. After not too long, we got our karaoke turns. I picked one of my go-to songs that I've done probably 50x before since I've been a karaoke regular at my local spots for years. The lyric screens were off this night so if you actually needed the screens, you'd be in trouble in that if you sang the words at the time they appeared on screen, you'd be off the beat. My husband noticed it too. The acoustics were great and the audience was there for some fun, so we made it work. This place won't be my new favorite spot, but it also gave me a break from the standard options and for that I'm grateful. The host and his female co-host on Friday night are a lot of fun and keep the audience engaged. The band is down to earth and has a very good library of songs available! The staff on Friday nights is lead by last Mohegan Maddy and he treat his employees as well as the customers with class and with a smile! This is a club that everyone should visit when you are in town! I have seen other posts including one from a former Karaoke host who is no longer part of the Karaoke host rotation, and its amazing what people will say to put down a new venue to promote another venue! read more

We were in Vegas this past week and decided to stop by the Smelly Cat for some fun karaoke! We happened to show up for the Knock-Knock Karaoke show that is hosted by famous breakdancer, Do-Knock of Super Cr3w Oh my goodness... BEST KARAOKE SHOW EVER!!! I've been to other karaoke shows and they are sort of boring and the vibes are hit or miss.... BUT Do-Knock could possibly be the best host ever. He has us cracking up. He is super involved doing backup dances for those doing karaoke, hyping the crowd, and adding in some skits of his own. It was literally the best karaoke show ever! We had the best time (and we don't sing.. we were there to watch) Lots of laughs and tons of fun!! If you are in Vegas and looking for something to do, do NOT miss the Knock-Knock Karaoke Show!!
