We arrived at 6:30pm for our reservation. We walked in and was greeted and the next gesture was the hostess asking for $10 each. I was a bit blown away because I didn't understand what the $10 was for because we just walked in the restaurant and it was only a handful of people inside including an employee sitting down eating ... and the workers still setting up and what appeared to be the entertainment that was setting up as well. The hostess mentioned entertainment was taking place around 7:30 or 8:00 ... Okay but it was not even close to that time frame so not sure why money was taken or asked for in advance. My bestie and I were going to dine if anything share an appetizer and have a drink ...definitely wasn't going to be there for any entertainment because we both were underdressed so that was a bit of a turn-off but he was excited to try the restaurant so he paid the $20 for us to walk in and sit down. The restaurant was wide open so we decided to sit at the bar instead of a table not sure if he was greeted at the bar because I went to the restroom. Nevertheless I came from the restroom and sat at the bar with him and not even 2 minutes later I was greeted with gnats and the smell of bleach such a turn off not sure what's going on here or what happened but I was ready to go. My bestie wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt but 5 minutes later I still was turned off and was ready to go. Well... go at your own risk. Parking is available on the street as well as a parking garage is available within walking distance. We were in and out by 7pm. $60 spent I order an old fashioned I know I finished that in about 15 seconds because I didn't want anything to get in it so from what I can recall it was good. After a few minutes of looking over the menu, we were ready to order. My selection was the Tavern Monte Cristo which consisted of chargrilled chicken and ham as the protein with Gouda cheese and cider aioli fried in a tempura batter with tavern fries. The meal was served hot and ready and tasted great. And having the cranberry coulis as a dipping sauce really added some taste. My only gripe with the sandwich was the amount of protein. I'm not sure if I ate most of it when we dined in, but when I ate the rest for dinner, it was more breading than anything else. Still good but they could've included more. Nonetheless, I was full. Good stuff as always from Park Lane Tavern :)

I was so shocked at the flavor they held how tender they were. Oh my goodness I can still taste it through memory. Every time I visit this place, the waitresses and servers are always warm and welcome. They make you feel like family. This place always has the perfect level of music where you don't have to feel like you're yelling to have a conversation. It's never too much and always appropriate. The place is always clean. I had one cocktail - I believe it was called Watermelon Sugar. It had vodka, aperol and fresh watermelon. Refreshing and smooth. I tried two apps: the fried oysters and the bao buns. Both were fantastic. Perfectly prepared, so much flavor. I think that next time, I would stick to the appetizer section and try many rather than getting an entree. I got the scallops, which were delicious, but the apps wow-ed me more. Prices aren't low, but you get what you pay for - really high quality dishes with lots of thought and execution embedded. I don't say this lightly - this has been added to my top 10 list in all of Hampton Roads!

However, I have had a good time here. The lobby is big and they have a bar in case you want to drown your sorrows over having spent so much money and having to sit through a sucky film. They also have claw machines where you can get little toys if you pay for tokens. I took the gamble and won a rubber turtle with an affliction and a soccer ball on its shell. Maybe I just like hanging out in movie theaters, but I did enjoy my time here each visit. I'd go back if I was in the area or if I wanted to go a little way out from where I live if there's something playing at this one I want to see that badly. I like being able to put mustard on my popcorn. For anyone curious: the films I went here to see were, Jeepers Creepers 3 & EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert.

For 2pm on a holiday Monday the bar was perhaps not so surprisingly full with some overflow to the adjacent high top. It is seat yourself and there was adequate availability of tables but also a fair number of diners - several women dining together, a family or two, and my own party of two. There was a lone server, attentive, running around, forgot our salad but quickly remedied the over site. Companion ordered the fish and chips. Chips were lightly fried curly fries. Fish was beautifully battered but bland as a sea of unseasoned potatoes. I suggest a quick dip in the old bay end of the pool before the fish hits the batter. Caesar salad looked very nice. I got a black bean burger. I did not see any black beans but when I cut into the burger, vegetables fell out! Corn, peas, carrots, green beans. I mean I have never seen a veggie burger filled with so many actual vegetables! Now I have an aversion to peas, so I ended up eating it like a potpie where I do the same thing, pick out peas. Anyway, I switched the accompaning curly fries for onion rings, and the batter was amazing. Just delicious! We shared a bang bang shrimp appetizer with huge shrimp and mild flavoring. Very good. Ack himself came around to see how we enjoyed our meal. Just an unobtrusive stop. My only suggestion is add a few seasonings or flavors to the unseasoned offerings. The eatery is open everyday for lunch and dinner and later for barflies, except Sundays a 2pm closure after brunch. Price point was about $70 for a tea and a soda (refills not offered but likely an oversight) an appetizer and a burger meal and fish and chips, plus tip. Clean tables and most condiments were at the table. Overall good experience for bar fare. Recommend Ack's Place. It's better than most chain bar and grills and if you're from that side of the Hampton Roads, saves you a trip to the more populated restaurant chains locations.

We were given some time to look over the menu and we decided to start with drinks and appetizers. We ordered the Dolce Vita Margarita, a Whiskey Sour and the Tuna Bites, ordered medium. The drinks were okay and the Tuna Bites were actually pretty good, but unfortunately, some were cooked well done while others were slightly medium rare. For our entrees, we chose the Crab Cake Dinner with Girl Sprouts & Mashed Potatoes and the Rasta Pasta. The Rasta Pasta came out first and had great flavor but it was lacking that jerk seasoning taste that you would get from traditional "Rasta Pasta". My sides were then brought out and the Girl Sprouts were great but the Mashed Potatoes definitely needed some salt. I was then served a Crab Cake Sandwich, which I didn't order, so I had to wait another 10 mins for my Crab Cakes, which came out a little burnt. Overall, I wish I can say I had a better experience. We also had to wait quite a while for our server to bring over some waters. She was very nice but just kept forgetting. This spot is very cute and has a nice vibe so it could've just been an off night but I'm not sure if I would return.

Inside, the decor is perfect. From the bar to the dining area, everything was spotless. You can tell the staff really cares about keeping the place tidy. And they had New Orleans-style music playing through the sound system. Very relaxing. After looking through the menu, I was ready to place my order. I chose their fish special, which was salmon with veggies and a sauce (forgot the name). This dish was very good. It was probably the best cooked salmon I've ever had. When you see seafood with the perfect crust and a lot of flavor, you're in heaven. It did have a small bone and I felt it lacked the amount of squash and zucchini, but again, a wonderful meal. There was one situation which resulted in only a 4-star review. Out of curiousity, I saw on Facebook that they offered $5 discounts. I did let my party know and we were all ready to use them when the bill was ready. But the staff told us the discount was to be used on a table rather than an individual ticket. When we looked both on Facebook and our personal emails, none of that verbage was mentioned. Not trying to sound harsh, but please be sure to state every detail foe customers. Me and a girlfriend went here after church and let me tell you those lamb chops were a touch from…read moreheaven! They were literally made to perfection. I was so shocked at the flavor they held how tender they were. Oh my goodness I can still taste it through memory. Every time I visit this place, the waitresses and servers are always warm and welcome. They make you feel like family. This place always has the perfect level of music where you don't have to feel like you're yelling to have a conversation. It's never too much and always appropriate. The place is always clean. I'm telling you definitely somewhere you want to visit!
