We booked the venue a year in advance, since we got married over Memorial Day weekend and venues in May tend to fill up fast. It was a beautiful setting for our wedding ceremony and reception - and I loved having the ceremony and reception at the same venue. (I'm just glad it didn't rain, since the ceremony was outdoors!) We got married on a stone patio overlooking the lake, and the reception took place inside The Chimneys reception hall right next to the patio. My only complaint about the venue was the heat. We had the AC going full blast, but it still got awfully hot. There were many pros, though, in addition to the gorgeous setting! We were able to bring in our own alcohol, and whatever caterer we wanted. We had the entire venue to ourselves for the whole day, which gave us extra time for set-up. Marilyn Zember, the Big Canoe wedding coordinator, was always responsive to our questions and requests, and was helpful throughout the planning process. And The Chimneys was more affordable than most places I looked at in/around Atlanta, too! All in all, it was a fabulous day in a beautiful setting, and I definitely recommend Big Canoe and The Chimneys as a great place to get married or host a fun event! (P.S. There is also a chapel just up the street for those who prefer a chapel setting for their ceremony.)

I work with a local university, and I booked Prestige to cater an event for our alumni. When I spoke to the manager the next day, we agreed to a partial refund. I reached out a few times over the following week to ask what the amount would be so I could report to my supervisor, and they kept dodging the question. I finally called and asked them to answer my question, and the manager started yelling at me asking, "What exactly do you want from me?!" I asked him not to yell, and his response was, "I'm not yelling, but I can!" Things went back and forth like this for a few minutes, and I told him I couldn't believe he was speaking so disrespectfully to a client, so I asked for this supervisors contact information. He informed me he was the owner of the company. THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY thought it was okay to yell at a client over the phone. I've worked in food service for a long time, and there have been plenty of clients I've wanted to yell at, but actually doing it is another issue altogether. Needless to say, I'm going to do my best to never work with Prestige Catering again. There food was great, their service at the event was good for the most part, but if this is how their management behaves toward clients, I'd rather go with a different caterer.
