    Butter cake!
    Chris D.

My wife I really enjoyed this gastropub. Looks like a dive bar from the outside yet it's a classy restaurant on the inside. Very creative menu with interesting selection. Cocktails were really good and strong. We tried a few and I needed some coffee after! Coffee is done via chemex pour over which I haven't seen at a restaurant. I love duck and was surprised they had duck confit! Duck was fork tender and cooked to perfection. It was served on lentils which were good but had a few uncooked lentils which was off putting. My wife had the steak with twice baked potato. She really liked it. We failed our willpower and ordered dessert. We tried the butter cake and butterscotch Bandino. Both delicious but the cake was kind of dry which I read in other reviews. Still worth getting and we devoured both. Service was excellent! Update: came back tonight. Cod with "48 hour" fries is effing amazing. Updated from 4 to 5 stars. Espresso martini is great too. I do not recommend the chocolate dessert.

Korean BBQ Chicken dish $24. Avocado, radishes, cucumber, cilantro, green onion, peppers, and sauce. Avoid it.

Came here last night with friends and ordered the $24 Korean BBQ Chicken, and have had stomach cramps and diarrhea overnight and this morning. First of all, the meal was not appealing visually, but I hoped the flavors would be good. The sauce was the only good thing. The avocado was browning and mushy, and the chicken was greasy. I didn't complain as I was out with friends who chose this place. I will never return. Even if it was free. Nothing on the menu sounded good to me, and this meal was a zero.

    Steak and Augratin

The food and service here is most definitely 5 star all the way! Not just saying this but the food really is phenomenal and different than other eats. You HAVE TO try them. First their cocktails are amazing and delicious!Balanced and well made. The bartenders know how to make a balanced and delicious cocktail. I got the Paperplane! Best one I've had yet. Food was superb. We started with the Tuna Tartar with Cilantro on top. A very delicious appetizer to start with. Loved every bite. One of the best Tuna Tar Tar apps I've ever had. We then got the Shrimp salad. I know I sounds like a broken record but this salad was also super on point. Amazing tasting dressing. Fresh crispy lettuce. I then got the Halibut. Superb! Hot, fresh and great sauce that came along with it. Very filling and healthy. GF got the steak. She doesn't eat steak very often. BUT WHEN SHE DOES she always gets it from here. I took a few bites and it was on point. The Steak and Augratin potatoes were fire. Loved everything about this place. Highly recommend the food here. Can't go wrong!

Had dinner here to celebrate a Gender Reveal party. Ordered adult beverages, appetizers and entrees. Steak, Chicken, Halibut are the main entrees being presented on the main dinner menu. Received our meals in a timely manner. 5 stars for the customer service received. Our server had consistent communication with us, always checking up on us while we dined. The drinks were delicious but the main entrees were a bit salty and the portions size did not justify the prices being sold for. I was confused if this is supposed to be a fine dining place or a casual dining place due to dinner prices on the menu. Overall The ambiance is great. I would come here again. We had fun. In regards to the taste, I will give it another try with a different chef on board. Cool intimate place to chill.

    Bacon wrapped dates

These bacon wrapped dates were $15. Is this food for dolls? This is why I can't afford to eat out anymore.

Short ribs tacos are so tasty! The 48 hours fries are also a good dish to share! Plain French fries that are just good and perfectly air fry. Had a chance to try the steak tonight and that was perfectly cooked and well flavored! Delicious! The old fashion is good- if it's your drink come try it here! They do make a few other old fashion with a twist and those are fun too. The decore is so cute! There is a bar side with TV and bar stools and there is a sit down side for date nights and family. They also have outdoor seating. This place is a gem! The staff is also wonderful which always makes the dining experience that MUCH better. Plenty of parking outside.

Brown Sugar Buttercake was amazing and definitely in my Top 3. It comes with an incredible Maple Bourbon Glaze.

Service: Everyone who passed was quick to greet us and check in with us, all of them friendly and welcoming. This continued throughout the meal, and it was awesome to chat with so many people. We even got a few moments with Chef Zach, which was a bonus! Ambiance: The atmosphere is dark (as expected) and lively, with the staff taking turns working the turntables to keep the music going. (I loved this little detail.) Food: Easily a 10/10 food experience, though due to the dark lighting, my pictures don't do the dishes justice! Head to their instagram to see better pics of the food. We had the tuna crudo, hamachi crudo, scotch olives, and wagyu tartare. All of these items were incredible, and those scotch olives were a definite standout. Our bartender Scotty was friendly and attentive, and the rest of the staff was awesome too. We can't wait to return for Chrysalis, and we're looking forward to visiting the new restaurant concept as soon as that's up and running! 10/10 experience all around. Well done!!

We went to Darkroom for my fiancés birthday and were slightly disappointed…read more The good: the steak was really tasty and had different flavor components like the crispy chilli and shishito peppers that complimented the meat very well. It was well balanced and the best dish of the night. The scrambled egg agnolotti was delicious as well and was paired with a savory slightly sour sauce what helped with the heaviness. The bad: We were recommended the house made focaccia to dip into the steak sauce but it was served 15 minutes before the steak came out so was cold by the time we needed it. The biggest disappointment of the night was the $29 tuna crudo. We should have taken the description by face value: tuna, tomato water, vanilla nori oil (we thought this might be the flavor but we were wrong. It was just oil), passion fruit. It quite literally tasted like oily tuna in plain water with passion fruit seeds floating around. The passion fruit overwhelmed the flavor profile. There was so little tuna for the steep price (like 3 sashimi pieces chopped up). It wasn't even a high quality cut. Even if it wasn't, the flavor of the tuna was somehow completed sapped - leaving just the texture. The overall pricing for the menu was very steep with small portion sizes but at least the other plates we had actually tasted good. We also appreciated the complimentary dessert that was given for my fiancés bday. The service was great as well. Looking at previous reviews, it seems that the experimental dishes are either a hit or miss

This speakeasy is known for taking your cell phone and having a no photo policy. So when they didnt take our phones, we thought we were being sneaky with taking photos. Turns out on Sundays, it is their relaxed day where you are allowed to keep your phone, and they have the side door out onto PCH open. I loved this, but also hated it if I am being honest. PCH is so loud with motorcycles non stop, and it made the room very light. It didnt really feel like a speakeasy as you could enter right off the street. We entered through the hostess stand at HQ Gastropub. I had asked one of the hostesses what we needed to do and she stated she just arrived for work and I would have to ask another hostess when they came up to the stand. Bit weird, not the friendliest welcome, but the staff inside Graceland made up for that. The hostess lets them know we are there and someone comes out to take us back to the red door in the middle of the restaurant down a hall of colored barrels. Typically that is the only place you are allowed to take a photo before you hand over your phone. Back to the service. The bartender was AMAZING. She was so friendly and just amazing. Our waitress was great too, they were both helping us out. I wish I got the bartenders name, she was such a ray of sunshine and sparkle. Literally, she had a sequin top on and the sun hitting it put sparkle across the entire room. I had two glasses of chardonnay that were delicious. I also had a sip of my friends drinks and they were DELICIOUS! We did order food, and I ordered the spicy garlic edamame but never received it. I also was not charged for it, so it is what it is. The sushi nachos were good, as well as the beignets. I am not going to share the photos I took here, because I feel they want to keep it a surprise and I honor that. I would like to come back another time when the door is not open, it is darker and more private for the full speakeasy experience.

I love burrata in general and it was so unique to have chili crisp mixed with the burrata. The pickled shallot provided a nice balance. I loved the Chinese donut to eat with the burrata. It was hot and fresh, and contrasted very nicely with the burrata. I really wished they gave a bit more Chinese donut so that the ratio of cheese to dip was better. We really had to eat a LOT of cheese to go with the Chinese donut we had left. The hostess said this was also one of her favorite dishes. - Chicken cartilage with Mala BBQ spice: This was surprisingly meatier than I thought (thought there would be more cartilage). It was deep fried and the mala dip was spicy, as promised! - Stir fried ong choy with garlic (not part of happy hour): This was solid, and they gave a generous amount of ong choy. Service was very friendly at the front and when they served our food. The restaurant is beautiful, and feels upscale. It is nice enough for entertaining guests and for dates. I do want to start by saying the staff was accommodating. When I made my reservation online, it only allowed me to book for six or eight guests (I can't remember which), but I had a party of 10. They were able to accommodate us and update the reservation so our full group could celebrate together, which I really appreciated. When I made the reservation, the only available time slot online was 8:45 PM. The earlier time slots were to early for the rest of my guest , so we booked what was offered. We didn't think that would leave us with such a short amount of time before closing at 10:00 PM. We also didn't realize until we got there that they don't serve full meals just appetizers. To be fair, I take some responsibility for that. I should have looked at the menu ahead of time, watched a few video reviews, and done a little more research before booking. That's on me. We still made the best of it. The girls were each able to enjoy a drink, the guys squeezed in two drinks each, and we ordered about three appetizers for the girls and three for the guys. Shortly after that, we were told it was last call for both drinks and appetizers because the kitchen and bar were closing. It felt like the evening ended almost as soon as it began. I do wish they had either not offered such a late reservation or at least let us know when booking that we'd have very limited time to order and enjoy the experience before everything shut down. If you're planning a birthday celebration or any gathering where you want to enjoy food, drinks, and time with your group, I would recommend booking an earlier reservation if possible or choosing another venue if only the late reservation is available. Hopefully, my experience helps someone else avoid making the same mistake.
