I've been to this restaurant many many times. I heard it was sold a few months ago -- and I can tell. Last night I ordered the special -- brisket, cabbage and corn on the cob. It was absolutely awful. The brisket had a strong vinegar taste, the cabbage was cooked to death and the half cob was undercooked -- and then they charged 50cents for butter. The time before this, I got a regular hamburger -- raw in the center. I don't know if the new owner is attempting to be the cook or what. I told the wait staff the brisket had a potent vinegar taste and she said she'd tell the cook. No apology, nothing. The place is going downhill fast. read more

I visited this place after a show at the Academy Theatre. I was expecting bar food and beer. I found much better than that, starting with the very attentive service. Staff was very friendly and took really good care of us. Our waitress made some suggestions I was only too happy to try: The Chicken Slider rocked my socks off. A modest-sized piece of pan-fried chicken on a bun with some dressings that include a healthy dose of Sriracha. (And yes, she did ask if I was cool with the Sriracha. I said "Bring it ON!" Sriracha always packs the right heat.) That slider was delicious. But it was indeed a slider. And I was still hungry 20 min after eating it, so I took the next suggestion to try the Steak Taco. This thing was an exercise in meaty indulgence. Chock full of steak and veggies and other good taco ingredients. Messy, but worth it. Ohmahgah I had such a delicious, delicious burger tonight (the build-your-own burger option, though I kept it simple with a medium-rare beef patty and extra jalapenos). It was a bit difficult to eat, since the patty and bun aren't huge in diameter, and so I literally was making this face the entire time: ":O", with savory meat juice dribbling down my chin and the lower half of my face, thus, aflame (thanks, jalapeno friends!!!). But I would absolutely do it all over again. That was one of the best burgers I've had in a loooong time--not greasy, cooked to perfection just the way I like it, and topped with, as usual, fresh-as-can-be veggies. read more

Fun trivia night on Wednesday's! Went with four friends for dinner and trivia. The place is seat yourself and you can choose to sit at the bar or at one of the tables. In the back corner, they have a pool table and an arcade game. It was super packed because of trivia night but we still managed to find a table! Our server was super nice and attentive, although receiving our food took some time probably due to how busy it was. The place serves mostly sandwiches, in addition to some other heftier plates and appetizers. I got the french dip with a side of roasted broccoli. The french dip was good, however the meat was slightly dry. I did enjoy the crispy bread it came with as well as the broccoli side. On the other hand, my friend got the grilled cheese with pulled pork and thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, this is a great option for Wednesday night hangout with friends! (PS. The good: They could make it without scallions/garlic due to my allergy. The bad: They didn't season it. The veggies were fresh but the 'cream' was watery and it lacked flavor. The salad was blah as well. I had to drown it in dressing to give it a kick. The skinny: Corner Pub has high-end prices for cafeteria type food. My tab (sans Scoutmob) was $20 for a medium size bowl of pasta and a small salad! Even $10 would have been too high. I won't be returning. read more

That translates to $6.50 for andouille and grits, or $5 for a four-vegetable plate featuring rich, creamy mashed root vegetables, decadent butternut squash, ripe, flavorful tomatoes, and vegetarian black beans and rice. The Corner Pub has great casual food at an affordable price. They have a fair amount of (dog-friendly) outdoor seating, which often fills in these COVID days. I would normally ding them a star for slow service, but the staff seems to be more overworked due to COVID than unfriendly/unwilling. We came here after hanging out at 3 Taverns next door. Scoutmob directed us here for some food. The vibe of the bar is good - classic bar without being too dingy. Beer list was good and decently priced. But the food was a supreme disappointment. I took the waitress's suggestion for the ABCLT but it turned out to be one of the worst sandwiches I've ordered at a restaurant. It fell apart immediately, had no flavor, and sub par ingredients. I guess I expected it to be grilled or something, but it was just cold bread with cold ingredients. I expect restaurant food to be better than what I make at home but I could make a way better sandwich! My husband had the chicken slider, which was better and had flavor. That poutine might be one of the worst dishes I've ever had. Why wouldn't you take it off our bill when we ate 1/4 of it, hated it, and tried to save if by adding more gravy. Cold pimento cheese on top of warm fries and a tiny portion of meat isn't good. Take that mess off your menu. The worst part is neither the server or manager seemed to care. Food is not very good, service is horrible, at least on trivia night. It always takes over an hour for food, we have to ask for drinks 3 times, potentially due to understaffing. Ordered the cucumber slider today and it was an a bun (not toasted) with cucumber, a few morsels of goat cheese and an onion slice and same price as meat slider. The Corner Pub is one of our "go-to" places in Decatur for dinner. It helps that they are just down the street so when I come home NOT wanting to cook, we usually end up there. I was on a very strict diet - you know, New Years Resolutions, and all that - that consist of meat and veggies (no starches, no dairy, no sugar, no processed foods). I am in LOVE with the Corner Pub because, even though I have tons of limitations on what I'm eating now, I have options there (aside from just salads). I came in one evening, pre-diet, and I saw mashed cauliflower! One of my favorite substitutions for "starch". The menu has changed but I usually get mashed butternut squash, broccoli, roasted root vegetables, and/or collards. I can also eat the trout (hold the sauce). I can eat the steak salad (or any of the salads really). We can get the pimento cheese dip app - I eat the cucumbers and carrots while my hubby uses the bread for the cheese. Or we can get the edamame all. So many diff choices. Just be careful if you're doing a similar diet - the root vegs have potatoes in them. The only thing that would make this a five star review ... Relaxed atmosphere, inviting and good tunes. The food is average and I compliment the freshness. I got the ABLCT (their version of the BLT) and it's pretty awesome. It has plenty of bacon and thin apple slices, the texture and sweetness definitely compliment the crispy bacon. This place has plenty of beers on draft, I tried the Carlsberg which was awesome. For dessert I got the carrot cake ice cream and that alone made the meal. It was an experience to say the least. Ice cream with chunks of carrot cake in it, what a way to get a glimpse into heaven. Staff was friendly and attentive. I came during lunch hour and it was not too busy. The crowd was mixed with business suits and hipsters. It was a great experience for the fam. Ordered the Peruvian chicken- the jalapeño aioli was spot on. Chicken was perfectly seasoned & cooked - moist and crispy. The wife had the Shrimp Tostada and couldn't have been more pleased. (Happy wife....you know!). Wonderfully Smokey flavor, just the right amount of spicy BBQ sauce on the pork and great crunch. Our kid had a Build Yer Own - selected the mushrooms over the burger. Very flavorful. Also we all recommend that you get the chocolate lava cake to top it off. This past weekend I inadvertently engaged in a grilled cheese binger - I'm not necessarily ashamed of this fact, but I can tell you that eating three grilled cheeses in as many meals is not necessarily one of my life's crowing achievements. At any rate, now that I am essentially a grilled cheese connoisseur, I can tell you that The Corner Pub's rendition is quite glorious. Their web address is also "pubalicious.com", which I personally think is worth at least one extra star. Food: The menu at Corner Pub includes an extensive selection of casual American comfort fare, including soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, tacos, quesadillas, and full entrees. During my visit, I opted to start with a bowl of the pazole verde, which was flavorful and sizably portioned. For entree, I went with the grilled cheese on challah with cheddar and goat cheeses - the sandwich was perfectly prepared. I opted for the fries as a side, which were decent, but by no means extraordinary. My dining partner and I also shared a side of the jalapeno cornbread, which was excellent. Service: Our waiter did readily admit that it was only his third week working at the restaurant, so I'm not sure if my experience was representative of the norm. Regardless, he was pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable about the menu, and willing to provide recommendations when solicited. Atmosphere: I was hoping to sit outside during my visit - unfortunately, there was a harem of chain-smoking bargoyles blazing away on the patio, so we had to resort to indoor seating. The interior of this place is fairly consistent with what you'd expect from a casual American pub, complete with a centrally located bar and both low and high top seating. The clientele during my Saturday afternoon visit was predominately middle-aged people. Cost: Inexpensive. Appetizers are $4-$8, sliders are $4-$5, tacos are $8-$10, salads are $4-$12, sandwiches, quesadillas, and wraps are $6-$10, entrees are $11-$14, and sides are all $3. Other: The Corner Pub features daily specials throughout the week, including half-priced entrees on Monday, trivia and $10 Sweetwater pitchers on Wednesday, $2 Bud Lite on Thursdays, $2 Yuengling on Friday, $2 Miller Lite on Saturday, and $4 Bloody Mary's on Sunday. On the surface, it's bar food, but there is so much attention to each dish you'll forget you thought it was bar food. All I can say is go or order. Keep these fine people in business. You can't go wrong on the menu. Prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly. I rate this as one of my five Atlanta favorites. Friendly staff. The menu looks to have recently expanded so we tried 2 of the new appetizers - fried mushrooms and fried green tomatoes. I was disappointed with both. The mushrooms had very little flavor. The breading was not good, it fell off too easily, texture of the breading was too fine and had no flavor. The house ranch dressing is good, but not what I would pick for fried mushrooms. The fried green tomatoes had the same, bland breading that fell off as soon as you cut a tomato: I know green tomatoes are used, but these were not tasty or pleasant at all. Hard and flavorless. The sauce on top was fine. The sliders were decent. The slider buns are very good. There is now mayo on the cucumber slider - I don't remember that from the last time I had one. Or maybe it was just toooo much mayo? The fried chicken slider was ok, the chicken was tender and moist but cooked a little too long or the grease they were cooked in wasn't clean. The corner salad was good - lots of tomatoes and carrots and raisins; the ranch dressing is good. I came here with some friends and family on a Saturday night to have some dinner. It wasn't too busy, but with the size of the place, it does feel cramped. I was pretty hungry at this point, so I went with what spoke to me the most - 2 mix and match shrimp taco that came with fresh and pickled veggies and the fried buffalo chicken slider w/ a side of mashed taters ($12.50). Not going to lie, that shrimp taco was ON point. It was light enough for me to enjoy, but flavorful at the same time. The chicken slider was good, but the chicken patty was so small and thin that it wasn't at all proportionate to the size of the bun. My mashed taters (one of my fav food in the entire world) was delicious and comforting. The service was okay, but I didn't mind too much because we were all chatting. I would say this is a good spot to come back to for a casual drink and lunch/dinner. Yes, one of our family's favorites- everyone leaves happy. My husband loves the "edgier" choices. Corner Pub puts a spin on some of the traditional Gastro-pub standards. He works nearby and I will surprise him with a lunch from The Pub if he is having a hard day. Turns that guy's day around! I like the hearty burgers- right amount of pink inside and perfectly crusty blacked outside. Its breakfast time but I would go get one right now if I could. The decor is perfect mix of clean, warm, cozy. The outside fits with the contemporary feel of the complex. The inside reminds me of 100 year old pubs I visited in Ireland- except no stale beer smell. Decatur-style, families are always present. Our youngest likes to play pool here. This will always be an easy choice for our family- Granny, hubby, chicklens agree on it! read more

Pretty chill spot. Don't be put off by my 3 's. I'm a fairly tough critic. Looked this spot up on Google while searching for someplace in Atlanta that has craft beer. Had a glass of "Southbound Rollin' & Tumblin' IPA". 20oz pour for $7.50 & delicious. Pours come in 10, 16 or 20 ounces. The 20oz was only $1 more than the pint (why not?) It's Saturday night yet I was greeted right away. Presented with a drink & food memu, then checked up on after a very short time. I ordered steak tacos (the menu says it comes with rice & beans but you can choose any sides you like). What surprised me was I was asked how I wanted the steak cooked! I've NEVER been asked that when I've ordered tacos. Bonus! They were cooked a perfect medium rare. Good atmosphere. Folks were chatty but not obnoxiously loud. Wait staff was friendly & fairly attentive. Beer tastes fresh. Tacos were slightky above average. What kept this place from getting the other 2 stars was the food took a little longer than what's expected. (But please remember, Saturday night) and I wished there was an option for a soft corn tortilla instead of flour. Another thing that was odd was the tacos seemed small but not because they actually were...the flour tortillas were just larger than they should have been which made the filling appear skimpy. I love the corner pub for a good, easy, and relatively inexpensive meal during the week. There are a few things on the menu that are real standouts. First is it the pimento cheese. I've seen lots of top 10 lists for pimento cheese in the area but for my money nothing comes close to the corner pub. The flavor and the texture are both so spot on. In the dish comes with lots of "accessories" that you can use for dipping and spreading. The second great dish is the posole. It's a huge portion and it's always absolutely delicious. They must cook that stuff all day long to get that flavor depth and texture. One word of caution: they serve it with fairly thick raw jalapeño rings and you may be tempted to think "yeah, I can do this" But, probably, you can't. I've tried quite a few times and I get through one or two jalapeño rings before I start gurgling and gasping. Fun! Burgers are also really well-made, and you can stack them up like a junior version of the vortex. OK, it's not really like the vortex, but it is a pretty good burger with lots of options. They also have some really good fish, and who expects a pub to have good fish?! With respect to the bar, stick to the basics and you'll be fine. If you're a beer lover, you're in good hands. read more

I do not like this place at all. It would get one star if the food wasn't decent. This place, from my experience, just feels cold and has really poor service. Our waitress was so ice cold; it was one of those experiences where I was trying not to say the wrong thing or be too pushy in fear that my food would get spit in or I would get yelled at. We ordered salsa and chips, and about ten minutes later asked if the order was taken. She said "yes," offered no help, and it took another ten minutes for it to come out. Our food came out about five minutes later, so the salsa served virtually no purpose. There was no apology; no friendliness..... it just wasn't a good experience. I went once a long time ago and didn't like it then either. I think that if you're a certain kind of person, like if you're a super-hipster or something, they night treat you well here. I really do want to like this place, but the food just doesn't do it for me. I've been here 3 or 4 times now and haven't enjoyed anything but the wine (they've got a pretty good selection for a bar). I've had the pulled pork sandwich, which was ok. I got the collard greens with it and they tasted like perfume. That was kind of weird. Had the burger once and it was ok, but not memorable. The worst thing I've had there is their chicken burrito. It was painfully dry. I don't even think there was salsa on there. The chicken didn't have any flavor. They probably shouldn't venture into Mexican cooking too often (this was a special) and should stick to the bar/ Southern food fare. It's a good place to hang out and not eat though. There was a lot going on inside decor-wise: mint-green walls, trophies sitting on shelves, a framed skull, a tiled ceiling just above the bar. Excited to take advantage of half-price entree night, I ordered the fried catfish: three big fillets with spicy collard greens and a piece of buttery cornbread on the side. I washed my summery meal down with an Ace Pear Cider. The waitress was really cool and kept calling me dear. "How can I help you, dear?" and "Anything else you need, dear?" I noticed that, in addition to half-price entree night, there are other specials going on throughout the week, including $2 Yuengling bottle nights and $10 pitcher nights. Oh, dear. read more

You'd think it would be easy to slap together a page with an address, phone number, and current menu, but sadly most restaurants can't seem to manage it. This place has lots going for it: a very decent beer list, ample portions, reasonable prices, and pleasant patio seating. On a Saturday night it was vibrant but not crowded. I had the catfish sandwich, which was tasty and plenty of food; I'm glad I didn't get the catfish dinner. The collard greens I got with it were also good, although I'm a sucker for greens in general. Best of all was dessert: a cool ball of delicious homemade peach ice cream. There's nothing here that's really exciting or unusual for a pub, but everything is well executed.
