This place came highly recommended by a friend. It's confusing as the website is ration and dram and the space is obviously called dead and drinks now. The menu is pretty limited but they make an effort that every dish is worth being on the menu. We tried to wagyu special which was fantastic; melted away like well done lamb shanks and something that you would find in a very high end restaurant. This part is pretty underrated so do come by and try their drinks and food. We tried the burrata with garlic. And also tried the deviled eggs and crispy tofu with broth. All of us were pleasantly surprised by the food and would definitely swing back for the brunch and other offerings. We had the garlic burrata appetizer which was tasty, and the roaster cauliflower appetizer was delish. We also got fries as an appetizer but the smash burgers (which were also delish) came with more fries than I could eat so I could've passed on the initial serving of fries. While each element was delicious, the amount of "burrata" was about two by one inches and not the nice runny, gooey kind of cheese one expects for a burrata. There was too much bread in relation to the rest of the appetizer. Increase the amount and quality of the cheese! Provide more garlic! Late dinner after spending the day driving up to Helen and back, then being back at the house to watch the UGA game. Now it's time for more drinks and dinner. Very nice beer list and I love that they offer "half pours" and they're half price. Some local beers and some further away, I enjoyed each of what I had in those cute little mason jars. What's interesting is that Raton & Dram now rotates their kitchen around. Tonight, it was "Jackalope" and they had some great choices though nothing particularly keto friendly. We got the "Smoked Salmon Dumplings" and I had one. Delicious dumplings with cream cheese and smoked salmon topped with "everything panko." Yeah, not keto. Oops. For "main", my choice was the patty melt which included "5 spice tots" that went into the box for my friend to take home. The melt had a tasty spicy sauce that I really enjoyed. We were a party of 6 and were seated fairly quickly. We opted for indoor seating since it was a bit chilly out, although there were several parties sitting outside enjoying the brisk air. I think their outdoor area would be nice during the warmer months, compared to other restaurants that have very basic outdoor seating (missing a little ambiance) but it comes off a little...try-hard. Anyway, I'm preggo so I decided to try their disco? lemonade. I think that was the name. It was REALLY good. Alcohol or no alcohol, it was delicious. I ordered the Lady Bostock, which was a slice of brioche soaked with maple-dijon syrup, topped with ham and gruyere frangipane with an egg and my choice of side. Definitely recommend the Lady Bostock. Yum! I opted for the cheesy grits but should have probably gotten the home fries. I like my grits a very specific way, so it was my fault, not theirs. My husband and I also decided to share the cinnamon roll, which was just okay - not GREAT. I'm glad we got one to share instead of getting one all to myself. It was a bit too sweet and a little too hard for my liking. It didn't taste fresh. All in all, we had a good experience and our waiter was exceptional. We had a fantastic experience at R&D. We walked in and we're immediately seated. Our waitress was extremely attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. She kept our drinks full and gave us great reviews of other places we had told her we planned to visit. All of the food was delicious and most of their stuff is made in house from scratch. I really enjoyed this place for Sunday brunch! The place is small, so be prepared to wait. They ended up seating the 5 of us at the bar in a row, which wasn't ideal, but they were doing the best they could! A couple people were just sitting and talking at their 5-top table for hours after finishing their meals, so what can ya do?! The bartender gave us excellent service and chimed in here and there in our conversation. He was great. The food was even better! A bunch of us (myself included) ordered the Sweet Lady - cured ham & gruyere and an egg between challah french toast. It was divine. The perfect mix of salty and sweet... with a little maple syrup in there. A good thing to order for someone who likes sweet things, but also wants a savory brunch. You could pick a side (between potatoes and grits). Tough because I love both, but I went with the potatoes, and they were large chunks of potato with salt sprinkled all over. It was a great, filling meal. And the bartender treated us all to a cinammon roll to split because of the strange seating arrangement. Also delicious. The restaurant has it's own small parking lot, which is sufficient considering there aren't many seats in this restaurant. We had an enjoyable Sunday brunch at Ration & Dram. I like this place. This is a contemporary New American/Southern restaurant and bar that opened in March 2014 in a freestanding building on the eastern side of Edgewood. It replaced the Arizona Pub (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-arizona-pub-atlanta). It's located across from the Arizona Lofts and the Arizona Ave Soccer Fields. Free parking is available in a small lot behind the restaurant (about 15 spaces) and on the street. You shouldn't have a problem finding a spot. The restaurant is inside a cool-looking, modern industrial building. There are at least two floors. For Sunday brunch service, only the first floor was open. The first floor isn't very big. I guesstimate they can seat about 12 people at the bar and another 20 or so at tables (including a few high-tops). The storefront has garage-style doors that retract up when the weather is nice. There are more tables out on the patio. The patio and part of the building are enclosed by bushes and trees. We showed up just before 11am and slid into some of the last remaining parking spots in the back lot. We joined a small crowd that had built up outside the door just before the restaurant opened at 11. Apparently, brunch here is popular. We were lucky to show up when we did and were seated immediately at the bar. The place was at or near capacity in a matter of minutes. The atmosphere was laid back and casual. The space looks nice and it was clean during our visit. There's a TV mounted on the wall at one end of the bar. It was playing sports. Ration & Dram serves dinner six nights a week, Wednesday through Monday, and brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The business is closed on Tuesday. Both the dinner and brunch menus are streamlined with less than 20 dishes on each menu. When we visited, prices at brunch ranged from $4 for a bowl of grits to $13 for the "Gringa" (more on that below). At dinner, small plates ranged in price from $4-12 each, entrees $9-20, and desserts $6-7. The kitchen uses high-quality, locally/regionally-sourced ingredients. The bar has an extensive cocktail, beer, and wine menu. Here's what we ordered: Food: -- "Smalls" * Beignets ($1.50 each, minimum of three must be ordered) - fluffy beignets with powdered sugar * McDowell ($5) - English muffin sandwich with breakfast sausage, egg, and cheddar * Hick Fil-A ($5) - buttermilk biscuit, fried chicken breast, pimento cheese, bread and butter pickles -- "Biggies" * Tofu Scramble ($10) - mushroom, tomato, bell pepper, onion, turmeric, and potato hash (grits also an option) * Gringa ($13) - crispy maitake mushroom, two poached eggs, creamy grits, and Gruyere Drinks: * Nitro coffee (small size, $3) * Orange juice ($3) In general, the food and drink were great. We enjoyed everything and I can't say there was a single bad thing. Dish presentation was beautiful. Portion sizes were reasonable. The beignets were delectable. They were fresh and served hot out the fryer. I loved the sweet powdered sugar and how warm, soft, and melt-in-your-mouth good the pastries were. These were some of the best beignets I've had in the city to date. The McDowell and the Hick Fil-A sandwiches are obvious plays on McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with Egg and Chick-fil-A's Chicken Biscuit, respectively. The McDowell even comes wrapped like a McDonald's Sausage McMuffin with a golden-arched "M" stuck on the outside. Funny. The McDowell was quite good with the savory sausage patty being the highlight along with the melty cheddar cheese. I didn't try the Hick Fil-A, but my friend who ate it liked it. It looked yummy. The tofu scramble was delicious. The food was bright and colorful and tasted as appetizing as it looked. Everything tasted fresh with the eggs and tofu being nicely seasoned and particularly flavorful. This was a satisfying dish. The Gringa was unique and excellent. The maitake mushroom, also known as hen-of-the-woods, was served as one whole piece. It had to be eaten with a fork and knife. I've never seen it served like that before and I liked it. The grits were warm and had a wonderful, almost silky smooth, consistency. They were mild in flavor. The mushroom, however, made up for it as it was salty. The eggs may have been the best part. They were terrific quality and perfectly poached. The soft yolks were ideal for mixing in with the grits and mushroom. The Nitro cold brew coffee and the OJ were tasty with simple, neat, and clean presentation. Service was great. The staff was polite and efficient. However we arrived and it was mega attitude from the start. *wouldn't allow us to sit at more than one outside table. *both servers were very rude and wouldn't look any of us in the eyes *took forever for drinks and no explanation for why *said they would reserve a 2nd table for us, but then gave away to another incomplete party *overall just super rude Hopefully just a blip on an overall pretty good record. I'm on my third menu with Ration and Dram, and I have to say that when it comes to cocktails, no one else is better. YEAH, I SAID IT. Their bar does not run deep but they have what it takes to make a miracle in a small glass. I have not had a bad drink here yet, and while I look forward to the new menu offerings with the change of seasons, I lament the drinks of past. (I should probably start writing down the ones I like the most to avoid this.) Ration and Dram's cocktails truly deserve to be called "libations." As for the food, we're still working together. I've never eaten anything I outright hate, but only a couple of things have I loved enough to order more than once. I love what they do with food - I just don't end up liking how it tastes. I've had a whoopie pie here where I loved the filling but was not too happy with the crunchy cookie. I've had more than one kale salad here (because I love kale), but R&D is heavy-handed on dressings. I've noticed this trend with my kale salads and the house salad. I recently had their apple pie dessert and while the sugar cookie crust is beyond delicious, the apples used were too sweet and the skins on them were a bit chewy (in a bad way). I also think their sides are boring (French fries and mashed potatoes in a list of five items - say what?!) On my last visit I was offered a card which listed items available a la carte from The Pantry. My first impression was that The Pantry is a DIY charcuterie plate, but more items are available such as pimento cheese, deviled eggs and local honey. The cheeses included chevre and bleu; and the meats included ham, salami, soppressata and bacon (yum!) Next time, I want to sample items from The Pantry. I think it's a great idea. Service here is very low key. Everyone I've encountered is very, very nice and will talk to you about their drinks, beers, menu items, and favorite bands. I always come fairly early - before 6pm. That's because R&D gets busy, especially later in the week. In the summer a kids' soccer team plays in the field across the street so the kids and their parents come in for dinner often after practice. (This only annoys me a little.) The Thyme After Time cocktail did its job relaxing me after grueling day. In true dork fashion, I texted pictures of the beverage to friends, eliciting envy. I felt myself unwinding after a few sips, ahh. Everyone else at my table liked their cocktails. We nibbled on the pimento cheese and pork belly appetizers while waiting for the mains. I got the burger which had some unique aspects to it such as the smoked tomato and the picked onions. Yummy! Even though I'm typically a raw onion gal when it comes to my cheeseburgers, I must say that these onions were ridiculously addictive; I do love me some vinegar. Now I need to devote a separate paragraph to the dessert. When I spotted a dish called "Elvis Bananas Foster Child," I knew that I could not leave the premises without trying said concoction. Comfortable bar seats, some patio seating that looks less comfortable, and I think a roof patio which we'll have to visit when the weather is less threatening. Beer list (draft) is not large, but is certainly workable. I found an excellent Lefthand dark IPA. Spouse was given a very nice pinot. The food menu I thought excellent, with plenty of creative choices. French dip called to me and did not disappoint; grain bowl was pronounced as 'funky' but good. Staff had no problem with me killing about half an hour of time this way. And while I was up there, I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken liver pâté. It was delicious. Served with toasted baguette and some apple butter, it makes me hungry just to think about it again. When the others arrived, we had no trouble finding a table and getting served immediately. The menu isn't huge, but everything on it has been thought out. We treated ourselves to some raw Blue Point oysters. These were larger than I'm used to seeing, and they were perfect. The Chicken & Dumplings look like a real winner--big, thick cut dumplings on a savory chicken, er, whatever goodness is under the dumplings. I must try this some day. But I opted for the Spicy Chicken Sandwich instead (a spicy fried chicken breast, topped with southern slaw, spicy mayo, and bread & butter pickles). Served with hand-cut fries, it did not disappoint. I didn't even find it too spicy. It was just delicious. There were two gentlemen there holding down the entire front end that night. Almost missed it because it is off the beaten path in a neighborhood. It is a hidden gem with not much signage. It is small and understated, but has outdoor seating under the trees. Moved to the area a couple of years ago and found this little spot to be delightful. The food was always consistently above average, and sometimes great, the drinks were stellar, and it was kid friendly. Service was never a specialty but it wasn't terrible. We hadn't been in about six months and the family wanted to get out of the house so we decided to venture back to one of our favorite spots. It was such a disappointing experience. I don't know if they changed their chef or changed owners, but the food was atrocious. Everything was bland and dry. The cheeseburger was incredibly dry and literally had no taste. My daughter ordered bacon on her cheeseburger and the bacon was burnt. Not crispy. Burnt. The spicy fried chicken sandwich was public school cafeteria level quality. How do you mess up a fried chicken sandwich in Georgia? They used to do this really cool iron skillet presentation with their tater tot's. It was one of the reasons my kids loved it. Now they just come overcooked and thrown on your plate. The drinks were still good so at least they still have that going for them. Our family came home and everyone had stomachaches. Like literally cramp level stomach pain. Needless to say, we won't be returning, and that's really disappointing because we used to love it there. It was one of our family spots. Great brunch!!! the food was excellent and i loved their house hot sauce so much that I bought a bottle to bring home.

This is a great Bruch location. A little disappointed that the current menu isn't the same online but that now seems to be the standard with COVID. The biscuits and gravy, yogurt parfait with a cinnamon roll....sooooo good. read more
