I came in for a Gel-X set with Sophia, the owner, and I actually really love how my nails turned out! She was very thorough and consistently checked in with me throughout the service to make sure I liked the shape and everything else. I really appreciated that attention to detail. The only small thing was that she showed me a drink menu but never brought me my Sprite -- not a big deal since I always carry water with me anyway. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with my pedicure. I got the deluxe pedicure with regular polish because I like changing my toe color every couple of weeks when I get my nail fills. My technician was a soft-spoken short guy with an earring who spoke very good English and was nice, so this isn't about his personality at all. The issue was the finished product. I had acrylic on both big toes because I had chipped the corners. While removing my old gel polish, it seemed like he may have filed too much causing the acrylic on one of my toes to became damaged. Instead of letting me know and asking whether I wanted it repaired, he continued my service and then polished. I noticed there was a weird gap, but I didn't say anything at first because I assumed he would address it before finishing. Unfortunately, he went ahead and applied the top coat. Once I finally pointed it out, he told me the acrylic was cracked and that I could have it fixed next time. He then asked, "Is that why you got regular polish?" Honestly, I didn't understand the relevance of that question. As a former nail tech, I know regular polish vs. gel polish has nothing to do with whether broken acrylic should be addressed. Gel polish would not have fixed or covered the broken acrylic . If the acrylic was damaged during the removal process, I would have appreciated being informed right away and given the option to repair it. Also, the deluxe pedicure includes paraffin wax, which was initially forgotten. I mentioned it, and he did give me a $5 discount, so I appreciate that he tried to make it right. Overall, I really like how my Gel-X nails turned out and Sophia did a great job. Unfortunately, I hate how my toes turned out, and that's what left me disappointed with the overall experience. I don't think the technician was intentionally careless--he was very nice--but I do think he needs more training and attention to detail, and especially how he talks to customers. I would consider coming back for another Gel-X set with Sophia, but I would probably choose a different technician for my pedicure next time.

I believe I was speaking with Shelilah. I let her know my past stylist had put my long bangs/face-framing layers on a side part and I wanted it fixed to be more in the middle plus a little bit shorter. I sent her pictures and she quoted me $20 and we set an appointment. The day/time of my appointment, I arrived and texted the business number to let them know I was there. I received a text back saying they had forgotten to put my appointment on the schedule and weren't able to help me that day. They asked to reschedule, which was a bummer since I was leaving that evening for my trip but not the end of the world. We rescheduled for when I got back a week later. The next week, 20min before my appointment, I texted the business number again to confirm I was still coming to my appointment. I got a text back saying the stylist scheduled to take care of me that day had called in sick and no one else was available to help me. It was unclear who I had been scheduled with since I thought I had booked with Shelilah from the beginning. Shelilah asked if i could come in tomorrow instead and she would help me. I was surprised that I wasn't notified that my appointment was canceled. What if I hadn't texted in advance to let them know I was still coming and just showed up?. But again, not the end of the world and Shelilah said the trim would be complimentary. The next day, I got a text a few hours before my appointment asking if i could come in 2 hours early. I said I could do that and I arrived for my service. I felt I was treated as a nuisance/chore during my visit. I spent maybe five minutes in the chair, and when I was unsure I was happy about how the trim looked, Shelilah let me know anything more would be considered a full hair cut. After that remark I got up and left. I would have tipped if I had felt happy with the service but I ended up feeling unwelcome. When I got home and looked at my bangs in the mirror, they looked choppy and uneven. I texted pictures of my hair to a friend of mine who is also a hair stylist and she ended up fixing them for me. If she lived closer I would have gone with her in the first place, because wow they look so much better now! I was hoping to have found a great salon in my area that I would return to for future appointments, but the lack of customer service and poor cut made me not want to go back. I'm sure other stylists there are good, but I will be looking elsewhere since Shelilah is the owner and I had a poor experience with her. I would have preferred they let me know they weren't wanting to do such a small service rather than taking me and making me feel like a bother. I feel no matter how small the service you should treat every customer like they are important.
