My family and I love this place. It's a go to for ice cream. Their portions are crazy huge so I always get the kid size cup. Their ice cream have been consistent and amazing. I usually go for the fruit cream based ones. They have a wide variety and changes with the season. The staff is quick and patient. There is an outdoor area and indoor area. The outdoor area is huge, including the patio, the gazebo, and a huge hard. There's also a bike path in the back. Due to crowds, when you arrive, you have to go to the back instead of the front. (Folks who can't walk well can go though the front). Coming from the back will have you be in the correct line route. They also have small water cup machines. Parking is free out front and the lots next to it if you can't find parking. read more

Stopped by on a rainy cold summer afternoon and place was doing good business with locals. Very cottage like" with great indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoors was a private yard with playground equipment and a notable carved tree sculpture. It looks like it would be quite shady and pleasant on a sunny day. There was a nice selection of ice cream, including classics. Several multicolored flavors sure to please children. The ice cream was reasonably priced, and claimed to be "homemade@. Came here for dessert while visiting my daughter at Northwood University. This a perfect walk from the school. Not sure what flavor to get, they had several peanut butter flavors, I ordered a large which got me 4 scoops for $5.95. And a large it was. The girl who served us was professional and efficient, she was there by herself. Most of their ice cream appeared to be homemade. When my daughter told me it was homemade, I thought they made their own. But it all was so good! Everyone in our party liked it. A great place fir a scoop, out back was really nice. My boyfriend and I love the ice cream fro here. I usually get an ice cram flavor and he gets a soft serve cone. They also have reasonably priced pup cups for our dogs and they love it. Their outside area is fantastic. It's a great atmosphere and we love that it's next to the brewery and along he rail trail. The indoor area is ok but when they are busy it feels cramped and uncomfortable. We love that they are open late too. However, if you come in after 9, the staff sometimes appear annoyed and don't always make the cones well. When we were there last night they made our cones impossible to eat without making a huge mess in the car. But overall it's a great place with great ice cream! I'm new to Midland and what I've come to learn is the saying, "it's good for Midland." This means that the place wouldn't kick it in a major city, but is tolerable in a small town. Well, The Cottage Creamery is by far not only the best ice cream parlor in Midland, but would give any major city establishment a run for their money! I've only had the ice cream there, which you can definitely taste is homemade, but the place also offers soft service flavors and food such as hot dogs. I can't speak for the food there, but my favorite ice cream flavors are cookie dough and s'mores. Their cookie dough ice cream uses sugar cookie dough instead of chocolate chip cookie dough. An overall favorite by the locals (yes I feel like I need to speak for them too because yelp reviews in this town are rare) is the coconut almond swiss ice cream. That's their top seller. The portions are very nice; a small is 2 scoops! read more

I've been here a few times, but it wasn't until a recent visit that I noticed the quality of the ice cream, specifically the S'mores flavor. If you like S'mores ice cream, you need to put the Creamery into your rotation because it's the been I've had, and I've had a LOT of S'mores. Wonderful, expansive menu! The entire staff is friendly and everyone had smiles even with the line out the door. They have seating out back but it looked kind of crowded so we took our sundaes to go. There was inside seating but it was a little too cool inside to eat ice cream. I would definitely recommend stopping here for a treat while in the Midland area....I'm glad we live nearby so we'll be walking here more :) UPDATE: stopped in Wednesday evening (May 2018) with the line out the door! My daughter and I stopped into this ice cream shop after visiting my dad in Midland. We saw the excellent reviews on Yelp and, as a bonus, it was on our way home. There was only one parking spot open, which seemed like a sign! The shop is a cute little cottage that is nicely decorated both inside and out. The ice cream was very good! Swiss chocolate almond is my favorite and theirs is among the best. The back yard has a lovely patio, grassy picnic area and plenty of seating. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING Probably the best ice cream in midland. the ice cream is home made, they have a lot of different flavors, i got strawberry cheesecake, and tiger (chocolate fudge with chocolate covered pretzels in a cone), my husband got a float and he finished it within minutes, because he loved it so much. i tried a bunch of flavors there including cotton candy, caramel chocolate covered pretzels and more all of which were great.
