This is a huge place to go browsing and shopping while visiting Vashon Island. I went there with Steve and the sister-in-laws and we spent quite a bit of time pouring over all of the merchandise here. They have men and women's clothing to check out but since I am fairly picky with clothing I did not find anything that quite hit me. But there was plenty of other stuff that I liked. The home decor selection is what really drew me in. Their candle selection I really enjoyed as the primary draw on the home decor front. And of course candy... what would I do without that? They had some great caramels here as well. The f=general vibe with this place is country chic so that is what to pick up from when going here. They also sell pumpkins, peaches, blueberries and more when they are all in season of course. Definitely a place to make a stop at when visiting the island. read more

Maybe I'm wrong because I haven't been all over this island yet, but from my experience this might be the most quaint business in town. I was visiting for a special Yelp event and this place was recommended as a must to visit and they were so very right. As we pulled up in the parking lot, the first thing I saw was the only thing I wanted- a place to sit in the sun and this place has a long patio with two different areas to sit and they are gorgeous. One side had red Adirondack chairs all facing out for a nice view of Little Bird Garden across the way. The other had padded outdoor seating where you could sit and enjoy the sun. So ladies, if your hubbies aren't into shopping, they can hang out on the patio and chill on the patio. Inside there are fun little nooks. This place lives up to the "country store" name because they sell bulbs for flowers, candles, souvenirs and home design items. They also have men and women's clothing and there's a section for old time candy and fun kitchen items. It reminded me of one of those old mercantile shops you see in westerns or movies from the 40s and 50s where they have a little bit of everything and what they didn't have, they could order if you picked out what you want from the Sears Roebuck catalogue. So utterly charming. This place will give you the cozy feels, so you really should check it out! read more

Driving by on the highway, this building and grounds is so enticing. You'll want to go. But the experience doesn't quite live up to the promise. It reminds me a little of Grey Gardens in it's eclectic, slightly run-down, and unattended appearance. There are many gardens with plants for sale but there's no one to help you pick out plants, there are not enough signs marking what things are and the prices are not terribly reasonable. Still, it's kind of neat to wander around and if I was planting a garden, I would probably stop here. Inside, it's a general store of sorts. Not really for food, though I think there were some foodstuffs. It feels a little bit like a modern take on the pioneer times general store. They have clothing staples like rubber boots, work shirts and pants, white t-shirts, underwear and socks. It's a bit much to take in and really get a grasp of what the theme of goods here is, though, as there's also a lot of touristy gift items and a huge section of scented candles and candy. It's dark and so quiet inside we felt awkward walking around looking. A little bizarre but I imagine there are locals here who come every day for some needed item. Worth checking out. read more

Recently purchased a pair of Glerups wore them less than a month and now there's a huge hole on the side. I asked for a refund since I'd payed with cash 3 weeks earlier. They don't offer cash back... so I agreed to a gift certificate if they could do a special order instead. When I told her I was a size 8.5 she said I needed an 8 in bogs when I knew well I wanted to go up a half size not down. When I told her I wanted a 9 she ordered me an 8 anyway. I waited almost two and a half weeks for these bogs to come in only to be disappointed once again. They were so tight you could see the outlines of my toes When I called to talk to the manager later she said no refunds and hung the phone up on me. I'm disappointed because all I want is a cute pair of shoes I know I'll actually wear and are worth the money spent. read more

Cute general store but their u-pick fields are a joke. I emailed them Saturday and asked if there would be strawberries tomorrow and was told yes. So the next day we loaded up 3 kids, took the ferry over and when we got there were told they'd been picked out Saturday. Pretty easy to get picked out when your "field" is literally 2.5 rows. Wow! This place has really been cleaned up recently. The staff is actually friendly and helpful, unlike the my previous experiences shopping/shipping here. The guy who tends the nursery is very knowledgable and nice. They have some local treats that are hard to resist and lots of eclectic items to browse through. I really loved the blue & white striped work shirts but I guess Chris just didn't want to look like a character out of Shawshank Redemption. You could hop a ferry from Seattle and visit Vashon Island just to see this store and the gardens and feel the day was well spent. In fact, if you're a gardener, this is a must visit place (and I know gardeners who travel a lot farther for the good stuff). In high school, we ALL bought our Levi jeans here (they only made one kind back then), but now you can get all sorts of outdoor clothing and footwear. Plenty of rubber boots and clogs. Also plenty of gardening supplies and seeds, books by local authors about local places, really unique and some unusual antiques and the BEST jams and products from local farms. The beautiful grounds are parklike and have rare plants and this place is so much more authentic than the 'Made in Washington' stores. read more

Fun store to visit while on Vashon. They carry a range of items from gardening supplies to kitchen items to clothing to kids toys. We stopped by to get the kids some activities + salt water taffy. But they also have a full selection of Filson and Patagonia clothes + other knick knacks for the house. Really friendly service too. read more

Super Friendly and great customer service! My husband and I dropped off our Uhaul trailer here after having moved from Seattle, and had been mischarged by Uhaul. Steve was very kind and patient and went through the bill with me and refunded me the amount we had been overcharged by the company even though it wasn't even his mistake. He took the time to help us and took our frustrations personally even though their store had absolutely nothing to do with it, and we really appreciate that! We are new to the island and can't wait to check out this store now that we know it's run by such excellent people. read more

I love the selection and the landscaping and seeing it on the way to my parents house makes me happy. But I have never bought anything here. Other places on Vashon have ladybug rain boots for kids and adults. They also have sweat shirts, umbrella's and veggie starts. It seems like it exists for certain established customers and they'd get a little offended if I asked what they sold or what they "did". I really don't know. read more

Wholesome animal feed, expert gardening advice and NW staples like Filson and Bog boots are what keep me coming back to the Country Store. And u-pick blueberries and they-pick straw/raspberries.
