My family and I have been trying to support local businesses during this time, but after the experience we had today we will not be going back to the Cove. Our order was wrong, and when I asked for it to be fixed they went back to the kitchen to "fix" it, gave it back to me, I went back home with the order to see they never fixed anything. At least two of the three orders were wrong (not sure if the vegan meatballs were actually vegan with the third order). When we tried to call and discuss with the manager, he responded with attitude and aggression and tried to snap at our family and hung up on us multiple times. The manager, Ed, was angry and not even interested in working with us to have us come back as customers. It is one thing to incorrectly write down an order, it is another to then pretend to fix it and then yell at the customer when we realize the problem wasn't fixed. read more

Finally got him at 7:15pm. He was extremely rude. Turns out server used my card on wrong table plus mine. No apology for that or after I explained what happened. Great take out place in Brigantine. Its a beach town so options are limited, but when we go down the shore we usually order some seafood to-go from The Cove. Food is usually really good but being to-go it can vary a little bit. Inside they have a massive beer selection and to-go beers. read more

Customer beware. You won't get what you ordered and if you try to advocate for your order, you'll be yelled at. We ordered from here twice. The first time we got the wrong order. We ordered the spicy red mussels (per their menu description), got home and realized we had Thai mussels. We figured with Covid and everything, we would eat them and not complain. Mistakes happen. Well we tried again a few weeks later. Ordered spicy red mussels. Before leaving, we asked to make sure they were the right ones and we were told it was Thai again. We explained that's not what we ordered. We were asked if we would try those and explained we already have and requested what we ordered. The manager asked the waiter to go back to the kitchen and get us red. They returned, we took the bag and went home. When we got home and opened our order, we were surprised to find Thai mussels. We then tried to call and speak to the manager. The manager wasn't apologetic or accommodating and asked that we bring the food back to be exchanged. At this point, we weren't going back- we were home and we already had them "switch it out" and they clearly didn't. We just wanted our money back. At that, the manager lost it on us. Screaming we won't get free food, that we had already called 40 times (this was our first call), and hung up on us. Let me be clear, we aren't trying to scam anyone for free food. We're actually trying to support local restaurant as much as possible bc we know they're hurting with Covid. But when a place can't get your order right and even continues to get it wrong after you ask for a correction on site, are we crazy to think we should be able to get our money back and not have to return? Clearly this is a problem for this restaurant too as the manager screamed saying we've called 40 times...that wasn't us but I guess there are more unhappy customers out there who were equally treated poorly and calling to complain (yikes!). Moral of the story, take your business elsewhere. These aren't good people and they don't treat their customers well. With so many hurting restaurants, give your business to someone who cares. read more

Sadly such a nice environment and decent food but the amount of alcohol that they must of served this old man to make such a scene in front of my family is horrifying. Having someone fall off of their bike and have the police and ambulance come is terrible. Not to mention the way he was acting to the help he needed was disturbing. We ordered the stuffed shrimp, shrimp po boy sandwich, chicken fingers, fish & chips, and clams on the half shell. Stuffed shrimp - sounded good but failed to deliver big time. Overcooked and parts of the shell were still on. The cream sauce served didn't match the description. Shrimp Po Boy - most likely from the freezer to the fryer. Nothing tasted to be made in-house. Fish & Chips - again, most likely from the freezer to the fryer. The fish was chewy. Chicken Fingers - ok. For a seaside restaurant I would expect more. Maybe some fresh battered and fried seafood. Overall, the wine was good and our waiter, Jose, was great. The outdoor seating was a plus. I can't speak for other items on the menu, but what we had missed the mark. Went to The Cove with friends last night to try out the new happy hour menu from 4-6pm. It was very good, healthy snd exciting! Nothing like this currently in Brigantine. It reminded me of Sofia's on Margate. They have $20 small plates which were outstanding. Our friends had the filet mignon and the lamb chop dishes which were outstanding. He accused my son of trying to eat for free and hung up on my son. I tried calling back and received a similar bad call with no support. We came here last weekend for dinner. There was a short wait since we didn't have a reservation, but we were seated within 30 minutes. Ordered drinks. The margarita was AWESOME. Normally, when you go to a restaurant, your appetizers come out first, then your soup and salads then your meals. Well, we waited forever, then everything came out at once! What restaurant does this! What restaurant brings your appetizers, salads, soups and meals all out at the same time!! Our table was so full, there was no room, it was ridiculous! It ruined the whole meal. Maybe they told her and she forgot where we were. I asked for a management person who had a lot of experience with complaints at this place for sure; I could tell, she was well rehearsed on what to say. She looked tired and weather beaten, wiped out from this sort of thing. I could see she is well rehearsed in apologies for this joint. So, if you want cold fries and onion rings for children, crab dip heated in a microwave till it was 'smokin' SUPER COLD broiled fish and enjoy spending over $137.00 this place is for you...you found HEAVEN! Excellent food, service and just an all-around fun place to hang, The Cove has got to be the best bar/restaurant on the island. There's also a liquor store in the bar area, which means you can find just about anything, have them uncork or unscrew it and get after it. But perhaps the best thing about The Cove is the bar itself. Its configuration isn't just a long countertop. It's a long countertop with the counter extended outward from the bar into a four-top countertop/bar where six people can sit; two directly across from each other and two at each end, facing the bar. There's at least five of these seating areas which I think is brilliant. It allows for double the number of patrons, the feel of sitting at the bar, and, if you go there with a large party, everyone gets to visit and converse freely. Everyone in our party was continually ordering drinks and food, which was shared by all. There's also a dozen or so flat screens with which to watch sporting events of all types. Oh, and I forgot to mention the happy hour food specials - a different one each night. I can't say enough about The Cove. It's glorious. read more

As a resident of Brigantine, I try to support local businesses so I tried the restaurant after many years. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. The menu had Jersey Flounder either broiled or fried with french fries and coleslaw. I order the broiled version. It comes with a salad and small container of dressing. A basket of cold bread was also given. The two filets of fish looked inviting until the first bite. Yeccch. Obviously defrosted from its frozen state, the fish was not only tasteless, but had the mouthfeel of mush. Had only a few bites and couldn't even bring myself to ask for a container for the rest of the fish. Oh, and the coleslaw barely had enough mayonnaise to coat all of the cabbage. It was that bad. First Impressions and Overview: This is clearly a place where the locals go. There was great live music at the bar. The normal restaurant seating area looked quiet and boring. So we went to the bar. First bar I've seen that isn't just a counter along a wall with chair in a line. The bar is like an island in the room, surrounded by chairs in varying amounts. Easily the most comfortable bar I've been to. Our waiter (guy with man bun) was great. Happily asked us questions and made sure we all were smiling the whole time. Appetizers: My 3 friends got the manhattan chowder, and I got the seared ahi tuna. Pretty much like a sushi-tuna that's been seared. Texture was very unique. Jelly-like in the middle and over-cooked chicken-like on the outside (in a good way). A must try. The manhattan chowder was apparently great, according to my friends. Entree: For our main course I got the fish tacos (which I read from a previous review were great). It was 3 soft tacos with dry cole-slaw and the fish on top (same exact fish as the appetizer except fully cooked). Very tasty. Very filling. One of my friends got the crab cake sandwich. It gets a thumbs up from him. My other friend got the fried flounder sandwich, and him being a fried-fish-hater, his only complaint was the bun. My last friend got the stuffed shrimp. He says it was good. So far, it's a 10/10. Conclusion: The food was very good, and at the price point, it cannot be beat in the area. Have had house here for 20+ years and decided to give this play a chance after reading average reviews. Horrible! First of all the hostess was absolutely rude. No eye contact and acted like we were bothering her. Completely rude and I'm surprised she can get away with the attitude. The waitress who served us was very nice so this has nothing to do with her. Tables were sticky and key west section smelled like day old frat house. Calamari was not fresh at all. It was definitely frozen and not even fried accordingly. When you picked it up, all of the coating fell off. The house salad - completely wilted. My husband ordered the steak which came with mash potatoes and green beans. The steak came out smothered in some tasteless brown gravy. The mash potatoes has ZERO taste and the green beans were mush - completely over cooked. My spinach salad with shrimp - $17 for spinach, tomato's, bacon and 4 shrimp. Rip off! Absolutely horrible food. And all of this while we stared at a table top in front of us that wasn't cleared for 45 minutes (at least while we were there) Oh and the fact that there was a leak behind us from the storm earlier in the day that nobody noticed because nobody else was in the key west room. read more

We own a vacation home here in Brig for years and tried The Cove years ago (2014) and weren't impressed. We have some friends down today and figured we would give it another shot. We show up with 4 adults and 3 children under five years old and they flat out refused to seat us. They said "We aren't seating large parties inside or outside." Are you kidding me? We are a large party?? We went over to Cellar 32 and had a great time! I guess the Cove lost our business for another 7 years! We will come back in 2028 and see if they still suck. Lol! read more

Dinner for two at the Cove this evening shortly before 6:00pm on a Monday. We sat outdoors. There were 4 parties out there including us. Service was prompt and cheerful. I can't remember the waitress's name. Dh had the fish and chips. Generous portion of perfectly cooked, hand-cut sweet potato fries (small upcharge) and a less than generous portion of perfectly fried fish. $23.00. Seemed pricey to me. Shore prices? I ordered the fish tacos (3) . Made with grilled tuna with a tasty slaw stuffed in soft taco. The fish wasn't dry. Thumbs up. I think that dish was 20.00, but I could be a couple dollars off. Two beers for my husband (7.00) and gin & tonic (Beefeater gin by default since I wasn't asked what kind of gin I preferred) for me. Refreshing and a good size. I think it was 12.00 but it might have been 10.00. By the time we left, the deck was almost full. Everyone looked like they were enjoying their food and the plates we saw coming out looked and smelled inviting. This was our fourth visit over as many years. So far, so good. Went down to Brigantine for a weekend and found this place. We had a great time in the game room. It was like a playground for adults.....lol. There was pool, cornhole, pinball and video games. It was after season so not a lot of people but we didn't mind. We had some late-night finger food and it was great. If we lived closer to here we'd probably go every weekend. read more
