She sounded like a bag of kittens being hit with a hammer. Hostess took our order and got it wrong. Gave me wrong poke bowl with no sauce. Inedible. The sweet and spicy chicken again was rock hard, dried out and way overcooked. The Kani salad was drenched in sauce and had a bad taste. The crab dip was a watery bowl full of cheese served with stale chips and Joe the manager was outright rude. When we told him about the food he told us "don't come back". Favorite spot in town for sushi! We also ordered wings and their chicken sandwich, they were delicious. We ate at the bar and Lexi our bartender was friendly and attentive. Got on islandlate on a Fri. not in season so no crowds to contend with. Wife & I had been numerous times but never felt compelled to write a review. Really great experience. Seated at a table, bar was 1/2 full. David our waiter was great. made recommendations based on our comments, including a rum drink called a pain killer for wife who can't drink vodka or tequila. The drink was well made and tasted great to her. We ordered, she got the happy hour 5 oz filet for $20, I got the Fri Prime rib special for $28. Hers was spot on medium rare with great flavor. My rare prime rib was perfect with a seasoned crust on edges. Well seasoned baked potato & a nice veggie medley rounded it out. The Happy Hr menu had other nice choices including Lamb Lollipops and we look forward to returning. I snapped a pix of the Prime rib bc it was so impressive! There are several large restaurants in this town and The Cove is one of them. But, make no mistake, large doesn't mean anything here. On a Friday night the place was 3/4 full. For a holiday weekend in the summer that already doesn't say much. We ordered the tacos - they looked good and I was told were delicious. The fried flounder - deep fried and all breading. The seafood diablo which was $30 and consisted of less than a quarter pound of pasta. Average cost 25 cents for the pasta and two tiny mussels, three tiny clams, 4 shrimp, and three scallops. (See picture) Seriously? It came with a giant bowl for the shells. The shells could have fit in a teacup! Folks. Don't give this place your money until they deserve it. Food was good, but go over the bridge to Atlantic City and you'll see that good and superlative are not close and the cost is no more than what you're paying for good. Would we try this again? Nope. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. I know they don't have the best rating on here. But the waitress we had was awesome. We ate outside on the patio which had nice music and great ambiance. Inside around the bar looked nice also. They also had live music in another room. We had the raw oyster appetizer, yummy! My husband had the rack of ribs, he subbed fries for onion rings. The Cole slaw was mediocre but he said the ribs were really good. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the crab cakes, my meal. I ordered the crab cakes, came with garlic green beans and I subbed the onion rings for the rice. Green beans and onion rings were both good. However the crab cakes were mostly filler and covered in a hollandaise like sauce. For $38 I expect lump crab meat. All in all it was a nice meal, I will return but won't get the crab cakes. read more

ZERO STARS! Went there for a nice family dinner and after waiting for over an hour we were lucky enough to get a couple sodas and a basket of stale "sorry the kitchen is backed up" bread. Our appetizers, soup and entrees came out an hour and fifteen minutes later (all at once). It was obvious that the food had been sitting in the back for some time and perhaps the waitress would have known the food was ready if she actually stopped by our table or would have gone in the kitchen occasionally. My family and I kept unsuccessfully scanning the restaurant for a waitress sighting like those rednecks in that "Finding Bigfoot" show. Fortunately they sell "take out alcohol" here because after the aggravation of paying a premium for mediocre food served by a unmotivated wait staff while listening to lousy music...you're going to need to drink. I haven't seen my hard-earned money disappear this quickly since my divorce finalized but at least that was worth it! Food options are limited in this sleepy beach town. I didn't try The Cove until my 3rd day. Whatta Mistake!!!! They're eclectic menu caught me off guard, to say the least. A large outstanding nachos start could feed 4 easy. A filet mignon cooked perfect med rare and crab stuffed shrimp that weren't bready, made my wife smile. A good meal and not feeling like your pocket was being picked is always good, but good service Is something I demand. Enter Steve. A half Thai , handlebar mustached server who made us not only feel welcomed, but regaled us of his ties to Long Island where we hail from. The dude was just very cool and sincere. My first and last time here. So very disappointing. I ordered the ribs and they were out. I decided to get the fried oyster appetizer. It was gross! They were fishy and gummy. I sent those back. I ordered a dinner salad that was the size of a side salad and for $7 extra you only get 3 shrimp. We ordered an espresso after dinner and they were out. We ordered 2 peanut butter pie slices to go. Staying in brigantine this week and stopped in for a late bite. We enjoyed the cheese steak spring rolls, French onion soup, and steamed clams. It was all basic but good, but we were still craving something. It's a shame this place can't get their act together. It's one of the only restaurants is Brigantine and the service is horribly slow, appetizers arrive with your meal, and people applaud when their overpriced below average meal finally arrives. As a Brigantine local I've been here many times over the years, but this restaurant has only became progressively worse and tonight was horrible. I try to support local businesses, but I'm done with The Cove. Funny thing is all the locals say the same thing - the service sucks! Oysters were terrific and fresh, but the meat was not loosened in the shell and was served without a lemon wedge. The rest of the food was just ok. The crab cake was not crispy or fried well, looked as if it was just microwaved. When does a crab cake or fried fish sandwich not come with tartar sauce on the side? Finally asked for some tartar sauce and it tasted weird. They have sushi, but where was the sushi chef? Worst experience ever... we were served cold pulled pork sandwiches not room temperature.. cold from the refrigerator... informed the waitress she took it back and brought it back in a few minutes and it was still cold. Oh where to begin... The Cove is a place you should go if you aren't actually hungry and are looking for a place to sit and drink while you wait 1+ hours for a dainty appetizer to be brought to you. The restaurant is incredibly busy during dinner time and hard to understand why because when the food finally did come out, it was incredibly mid. Not to mention we had ordered appetizers with not a single issue when we arrived, and when they finally came out an hour and five minutes later, we realized we were missing a dish, and only then did the waitress come up to warn us that they actually ran out of the dish -- not having the decency to warn us before then! So, thank God for the two bread baskets that we were able to scarf down to ease our hunger in that horrifyingly long hour! And I know this is bleak, but for the love of God, do NOT try to be healthy and order a caesar salad because your anus will provide payback to you the following morning. We didn't care to stay for desser, but it's fine because we got to have hershey squirts in the morning with a hint of poisonous lettuce! You will have better luck and a better time curing your hunger at a different establishment, even Mcdonald's, because you will most likely leave The Cove unhappy and unsatisfied with a somewhat full belly that will betray you later! read more

We came in and were seated in the dining room for dinner and had a great server but then moved to the "game room" happily when we asked about the Tuesday night burger and cheesesteak night! We read all of the negative reviews but decided to try this place out for ourselves. we made reservations for 10. They were short staffed (like everybody else in the country) but we were seated within a few minutes. There were 2 other groups of people with reservations a half our later than ours demanding they get seated right away. They were butting in front of our party and complaining to the the bar staff to get more help because they were waiting. No more than 5 minutes. The food and service was good but the rich over entitled assholes that think the world revolves around them will always leave negative reviews. They just needed to be seated so their kids could get on their iPads and they wouldn't have entertain their own children. Tip- you're nobody special. Learn to have some patience and respect. it's ok to have to wait a few minutes. read more

What a great place to be! The food was solid! The servers were very friendly even in a stressful, packed restaurant. There was live music. The fish tacos were good. They had a nice mixture of chopped vegetables at the bottom, mixed with a tangy, slightly spicy sauce that complimented the fish very well. They were playing live sports on the TV to add to the nice vibe of the restaurant. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be happy, enjoying a nice beach weekend. My friend ordered the burger and shared that it was cooked perfectly to order. The fries were the best part though! We also ordered the cheesesteak egg rolls.
