By far the best dining experience in Borrego Springs, the food is perfect every time and the service is impeccable.

This is some of the best Mexican Food I've had in a long time. And this is coming from someone…read morewho's lived in San Diego all of his life (and is now in LA!) Service was amazing, so quick to come out with fresh chips and salsa (FRESH! as in they made the chips in-house... rare trait to come by these days IMO). Quantity of food was incredible. I can't speak for the menudo (dad got this) or for the 3 egg platter (not really sure why my mom got this) but $16 for a carne asada burrito as well as the beans, rice, and veggies on the side was such a steal. Especially in Anza Borrego. I would've thought it would maybe be more expensive since it probably costs a lot to bring out the best ingredients in the desert but somehow they have it all figured out. The carne asada burrito meat was top tier. Smoky flavor, soft with charred edges, so flavorful and overall the quantity of the burrito was way more than I was expecting. Lastly, I'm just so happy my dog got to sit outside with us. They have a shaded patio with a couple tables. I think other pet parents followed suit, as this seems to be a hit for dog-friendly spots here in Anza Borrego. I'd highly recommend. What a great find by me. Go me!! This is truly a hole in the wall that needs more recognition. You won't be let down!

Bartender arrived ordered a round of drinks for the outside seating. I went to the outside counter to order next round, I had to get the bartenders attention then ordered, Jared served 2 more drinks, as I said thank you and started to walk away, he said "thanks drunk ass". I am 20% tipper. But not this time! We come to this area at least 2 times a year not coming back to this place, very sad Hope you hire better staff.

The building also has a gift shop and bar. It is cozy throughout the building, specifically, a cabin feel. The staff at the counter were very helpful and patient. I ordered a kale salad with chicken. It was a hefty serving. I did ask for extra balsamic dressing at the time of my order and I'm glad I did since I had a lot of greens. Everything was fresh and the candied pecans added in were delicious and added a nice crunch to the salad. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and they were perfecto! It was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. I enjoyed my lunch out on the patio deck facing north east. I had the view of the hills and got to watch people drive into or leave Borrego Springs. Some of the planks on the floors and side rails were starting to show their age or had been damaged. Overall, a great experience at the joint. I look forward to having another bite at the restaurant when I camp here again in 2025.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner here. Considering the price at $90 per person, we were disappointed…read more The food quality just wasn't there. We all ordered the turkey dinner and my daughter was looking forward to the stuffing but it had pork sausage in it, so we couldn't eat it, we don't eat pork. It would have been nice if they could have made up some plain stuffing for us, but it's not that kind of place or experience. My mom's turkey didn't have gravy on it (they forgot), and we had to ask for dinner rolls (they forgot). Also for any vegetarians out there, there wasn't a single option on the menu. The soup to start was barely edible, and the pumpkin pie for dessert tasted like cheap store bought with artificial whipped topping. Practically inedible. If they're trying to cut corners, food quality isn't the place to do it! Service was friendly but inexperienced and awkward. My daughter had to ask for a fork, and our candle wasn't lit. Those little things an experienced server would notice. I'm actually surprised the staff is so poor considering the prices, they're getting good tips! The ambiance was nice however we were seated next to a door which led outside and it would slam every time a server went in and out. The restaurant was only about half full, they had tables set up for large parties which went unoccupied, perhaps they were eating late.

Our service was prompt, and we loved the ambiance of sitting next to the outdoor fireplace with our dog. We started with a Brown Derby (not pictured) and a Coconut Margarita. I was a bit disappointed that the menu didn't mention my Margarita would be blended, but it was tasty nonetheless. Our appetizer of Cambozola cheese with chutney, roasted garlic, and nuts was absolutely TO DIE FOR! We still can't stop talking about it and we had this meal 5 days ago! Needless to say, we will be attempting to duplicate this spread at home. Our entrees of Grilled Salmon and the Portabello Wellington were quite delicious as well. To wrap up our meal, we enjoyed the Flourless Chocolate Orange Cake, and the Brûlée Cheesecake. I have to mention that I didn't taste any orange in the cake, but it was delicious all the same. We look forward to returning to this gem of a resort and restaurant!
