This is a one of a kind spot that I have not found anywhere else in all of America. The location near the mountains, the biker community, the live performances- it all comes together to make an incredibly interesting and unique experience. Me and my non-biker Asian family love this spot because it feels like we stepped into a different world!! The menu is classic American food, and I think from first impressions it's slightly overpriced. But when you think about how there's literally no other big food spots nearby and the unique ambiance- perhaps it's a pretty fair price. Especially bc it seems to be a place where people linger and hangout for a bit. Don't be intimidated by the outside!! Our Club did another ride to Josie's Saloon, Biker Bar & Restaurant, this venue has ample parking, seating both indoor and outdoors, they also have a large stage area for Live Bands. It's a great spot to stop & take a break and enjoy the scenery. The FooD: They have the basic diner food and more, you place your order inside and they call your name at the side window, I ordered the hot wings & my hubby ordered the BLT we waited over 1/2 hr, the food was disappointing. The wings were overcooked and dry, and the BLT was lacking in its core ingredients. As a non-drinker, I cannot comment on the beer quality, but the soda fountain is self-service. The live band was entertaining, the atmosphere has a great relaxing vibe, but the food was unimpressive. read more

Love this classic country biker bar! Bikers of all kinds come here and also car club enthusiast. I only started coming to this bar last year. I love the live music and the vibe at this place. No hard looks, no hard feelings, no posturing just good times and people enjoying each other's company in the live music. The girls at the bar are damn amazing & they're wonderful! The food here is great as well. I had a chili dog. It was great. Awesome. I've also had grilled chicken sandwich. That was really good. Not pub food it's gourmet. The restrooms are clean. There's plenty of bike parking but be careful on your way to the intersection. The turn off kind off kind of sneaks up on you. read more

I Love this place, It's the perfect ride for me from Borrego Springs where i Live and their Bacon Letuce Tomato BLT is Tops and the staff are very nice . I do not drink alcohol but the music is nice with a great stage and ample seating space and plenty of parking for your ride.and a relaxing atmosphere. read more

We stopped in with a couple of friends on a hot Sunday afternoon. A great band was playing, Nightshirt. There were misters sending a cool spray across the crowd and plenty of shading outside where we drank beer and danced to the classic rock tunes of Nightshift. Super fun, chill afternoon! This place is a cute little biker's rest stop. My boyfriend took us here on the way to Julian, and it was pretty good. It had an indoor and outdoor seating area, and the outdoors had misters for the heat (it was 109°). The food came out fast, and the people were very nice. There were a few dogs that the owners let walk around, and they were very sweet and good greeters. The food itself was very greasy and fatty, but quite good nonetheless. read more

I watched every person who ordered after me get their food first, while a few were even finishing their meals by the time my order was ready. My review definitely needs to be updated! After a couple of disappointments (mentioned in my initial review), I decided to try Josie's again last week-end and to my surprise... everything has very seriously improved! The staff was super fun nice friendly, finally serving beverages in real glass and now also featuring local beers. My food was... amazing. Had the chicken sandwich, juicy, tasty, large portion, the club sandwich feature some thick beacon stripes, everything was perfectly seasoned. There was live music in the patio (can't remember the band's name but they were awesome!). Good biker times at Josie's. Recommended! read more

My wife wanted to go to this some 'biker bar' on the way to Julian. When I asked her if she knew the address, she replied, "Don't worry, I've been there before." Say WHAT?!? Recently, she and a lady friend essentially got lost in the mountains, and drove by Josie's Hideout by accident, and decided to try it. They loved it ! Now it's my turn. Bottom line, TLDR, this is a great place! The menu is on a chalkboard, and there are 6 or 7 entrees, and no less than 16 types of beer. At least they have their priorities right. It's a stand in line to order process, and wait for the food at your table. My order was the Cubano ($14), a man-sized sandwich containing a slab of fried ham steak, pulled pork, pickle slices and shredded lettuce. It was oversized and very delicious. Accompanying it was a very generous pile of french fries, and they were pretty good. Fortunately, all was served in a clear plastic container, because it would be almost impossible to finish for lunch. The beer was Modelo on draft ($8). It was served icy cold in a canning jar. I would have preferred a cold mug, but hey, it's a biker bar. The ordering process was very efficient and friendly, and the food came out in about 10-12 minutes. I noticed a sign on the wall above the bar that admonished all patrons to respect each others colors. Plural, not a racial thingie. A club thingie. Remember Sons of Anarchy? Truth be told, everybody's family here. We sat in the restaurant, enjoying the live music being played on the outdoor stage for patio patrons. Conversation was comfortable inside, but out near the band, not so much. It was refreshing to see the American flag hanging proudly in the restaurant. I haven't seen so many tattoos since my last John Wick movie. The restroom was spacious and reasonably clean. Naturally, there was a gorgeous assortment of motorcycles parked in front of the restaurant. Most were Harleys and all looked very well cared-for. It's easy enough to find, just take 79 toward Lake Henshaw. Definitely worth the drive, which itself is beautiful and worthy of doing. read more

Stopped in, as many do, during a ride home from Palm Springs. The place was packed with bikers, but still plenty of seats on the patio. Sat and listened to some live music. This is a great place to ride to. Very nice scenery on the way, and good food and people when you get there. They even had an awesome band playing music for everyone at just the right volume so you can still hear and talk to one another. The staff there were very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. A fantastic, not-at-all-hidden but somewhat remote place for live music, cold beer, great food, live music and casual enjoyment. The Hideout is well worth your time, whether you are riding motorcycles, a classic car, rolling with the kids, or have your well behaved dog with you. Let's start with dog-friendly: Yes. The outdoor seating is on dirt, and your well-behaved, supervised dog is with welcome. Mine had a great time, including interaction with other great dogs. I provided my own water and bowl, but they may be able to do so for you. The beer is wet, it's cold, and there's a large, competent list of excellent beers ranging from fizzy, yellowish peewater to the real beer that men and women from Southern California drink. Wine and liquor, too. Heck I'm pretty sure I even saw seltzer. Soft drinks are on a self-serve fountain, however, if you'd like a glass of cold water, you have to buy the bottle or bring your own. The food is excellent. Not much for vegetarians, but very good burgers, fries, sausage sandwich, carnitas... I'll post a photo of the menu as of June 2022 and note that the food is clearly presented by someone who cares about it. The indoor bar and staff are friendly, clean and fantastic. Yes, this applies to both the bar and the people. The outdoor seating is comfortable, clean and well-situated for patrons to observe live music and/or their own motorcycle /classic car... There is also a large array of picnic tables under a shade structure, also near the stage. Parking is alongside the road in front of the bar, and you should be responsible how you choose to do it. read more

Our first time riding the Julian Loop and we came across this place. I feel in love with it. They had a band playing that kicked some serious butt and the vibe in the place was great. We didn't eat though but will definitely try out the food our next trip. I hope that will be soon! Our city of Norco lost a hero and due to a suicide bomber at the airport in Kubal. We were deeply touched to see they honored not only our local Marine but the others as well. Well done and thank you for the remembrance. Definitely will be coming back here and 100% recommend this place for a chill hangout and drinks. I'll have to follow up on a review of the food next time. read more

Well hidden and if someone knows then you will know. Before pandemic requirements I imagine this placed rocked and services the needs of the hungry and thirsty biker. I'm sure all in need but these specifically. They had a rough go this first weekend open but they were well planned. You could only do so much with what you have and the flood of interested customers where not in short supply. The only thing plaguing them was time. I've been wanting to come out Josie's since the grand (re)opening in September- but, you know how it is- work schedules and what not. So, since my girls & I were returning from our moto weekend getaway from Salton City (we met up with fellow wind sisters from Yuma)- our last stop before heading back to San Diego was the Borrego Sculptures. Keep in mind- out of our group- I'm the one that's really into Yelp. So, I figured- if we're gonna be in Borrego- let's eat in Borrego! The place I had in mind is super close to the sculptures... and I only looked at the proximity and opening time- and didn't read much of the reviews .... So- with that being said- we were done taking our pictures at the sculptures & one wind sister said- "That better not be the Mexican place that serves marinara as salsa!! I ate there a few months ago.." And that just killed everyone's vibe. So, the next suggestion is- let's go to Josie's!! Done. It was mid Sunday morning and tons of bikes lined up on both sides of the road. This is my first time here- and I didn't realize what a great spot Josie's is at! Not super tucked away- just a quick swerve off CA 76. We rode in heading west on CA 76 and there's a huge sign- you can't miss it! Smoke was billowing out- and it smelled of some great bbq- so early in the day. Tons of outdoor seating - and that's what we picked. Jillian was our server and she was patient with us ladies changing our minds a bit on our orders. All four of us picked the French toast with bacon. This order has 2 slices- and I decided to get a side of bacon as well. First I thought coffee & Bailey's... but, changed it to a spicy Bloody Mary with extra olives. Man! Jillian did not disappoint with my Bloody Mary! I had 6 olives and it was spicy and strong! My gosh! I even stirred it more! I even added my extra bacon inside my drink... real tasty- and there was a good amount of ice. I drank more than half- and it was enough for me. LOL The French toast was flavorful and delicious. However here it's made with sliced white sandwich bread- and that's fine with me. Oh- there were also fresh apple slices on this order too! I'll definitely return to share this gem. Visited 9/25/2019 I'm giving this review 3 1/2 Stars for several reasons. First I must say the new owners have done a magnificent job of remodeling this longtime biker bar. It is a great little place near Lake Henshaw in a beautiful part of the countryside. Quite a bit of seating inside and much more on the two outside patios. One with a good bandstand. 4 1/2 Stars. There is a Full Service Bar the only bar within forty miles of this area. Lots of cold beer to choose from and hard liquor served in small plastic glasses. Mixed Drinks are small and not very strong unfortunately. 2 1/2 Stars. The Bartender Amber was all smiles and took good care of us. 3 1/2 Stars. There is a jukebox that they play a little to loud and becomes annoying if you're sitting inside. 1 1/2 Stars. They take their time around here so don't be in a hurry. Relax and Enjoy the country life. The Prices are fair for the food you get. Mostly Sandwiches. The Double Hideout CheeseBurger and Fries I ordered was $17.78 because everything is extra. It would have been a pretty good burger if they left off the heavy pickled onions and veggies. All you could taste was the pickling juice. We also tried The Pulled Pork Sandwich with fries. It could have used a bit more pork on the bun but tasted very good. We added a side of Chili that also was good. 3 1/2 Stars. Awesome biker spot. Beautiful ride out here. Great atmosphere, very welcoming to all. I love Josie's patriotism and commitment to community. Her boys are always there too, great family business. Food is fantastic. The tacos are sooooo good. I seriously ride out there for those when I know the taco bar is going. Plenty of open parking, don't have to worry to much with getting blocked in. They have plenty of event rides out here, live entertainment and all the fun stuff you could want. You can count on a good time, good people, good music. read more

I waited in line to order food and drinks. The bartender kept yelling who has cash and kept helping the customers with cash first. After it was my turn to order, I ordered a cheeseburger, she said "we have a pulled pork sandwich". I then said, how about a "Hot Dog"?, she rudely said, "I said we ONLY have pork" and looked at me as if I had 2 seconds to make a decision. After I waited in line and knew what I wanted, now I had to change my order and was expected to figure out what I wanted within seconds. She seemed overwhelmed and stressed. I told her "you are stressing me out". She said, If I am stressing you out, "there is the door". Don't go if you are looking for good or friendly service. read more
