Our plan was to buy and cook some Maryland Blue Crabs for the Labor Day holiday weekend dinner, after traveling all over Maryland looking for the best tasting blue crabs we could find. We found ourselves at the "Crab Gallery." Our server, who called himself "Pound Cake," provided the best looking, nice-sized crabs he had to offer. He also sold us his very own version of Old Bay seafood seasoning. Our host and Gubbing Buddy got to work seasoning and cooking our store-bought crabs, while reminiscing about catching crabs as a child in Virginia. She taught us how to break into our crabs to get the meat out. I haven't had blue crabs in years, and these crabs were fantastic! They really took me back to my joyful childhood days. read more

Attempted to call Crab Galley for carry out and the music in the background was so loud I could not think (which is very loud since I grew up around loud music). Got there to pick up my order, music was toned down a bit, but someone in the kitchen was yelling lyrics at the top of his lungs. I'm all for staff having a good time, but this was a bit overboard. I went to the bowie location on x Mas eve could not purchase cave monsters but got 6 jumbo and and dozen x larges with some shrimp was given wrong order called back they were closed .Called back next day spoke with rude woman at 12:06 pm at bowie location said our policy is bring it back I said I would have but next day was Xmas and you'll were closed she then gets disrespectful and hangs up on me.Rude woman even admitted that an order got mixed up at the end of the night and still was disrespectful. Service was good but slow. Place wasn't busy and my 20 min wait turned into 40 for a pretty basic order. The fried whiting, salmon cake & hush puppies were good but the chicken tenders lacked seasoning. There were massive chunks of onion in the salmon cake, which threw the balance off but it was still enjoyable after removing some of the onions. The biggest disappointment by far was the lump crab cake sandwich, priced at $16 I believe. OMG, when I say there was no crab cake in the sandwich, I'm not exaggerating. It was sad...to the point it wasn't eatable. Overall I'd return for the fish & salmon cake but avoid the crab cakes folks, unless you enjoy fillers. read more

Overall , crabs and other seafood is very good. Crabs are usually full , hot and well seasoned. However, some of the younger staff members need improvement in their customers service. More than once I've seen them argue with other staff members, zero enthusiasm when talking to customs and slightly rude on the phone. read more

They're steamed crabs -- how can you go wrong? This place is a Bowie staple for many years. I think they have fair pricing and the crabs we got were great. I didn't personally think the crabcakes tasted the best, but now we know what to get. Also had fried shrimp, which was tasty. read more

Been coming here for years and never had an issue with the food or service. Always good crabs and shrimp. Service is great a few times had to wait a little longer than estimated time. Place is small just like any good fresh seafood place. Not sure why they have a low rating. The staff is great, I call in the order and they give me a pickup time, which has been on time both times and the crabs are hot and fresh. l have not ordered crabs at this location, but have been here several times for seafood carryout - most recently on Sunday. The crab soup, both cream and tomato based are always good and on point. Can't miss with the cream based! Regarding the seafood - first of all, the seafood is always very fresh which makes everything better. In my opinion, the fried oysters are the best in the area and my favorite item on the menu. Always good sized, not over breaded and taste like fresh succulent oysters. Once I start eating them, I don't stop until they are all gone! The fried shrimp and crab cakes are also excellent in both flavor and size. I have also tasted several types of fresh fish including cod, rock fish and flounder. I had a fried cod sandwich that was large, fresh and very tasty. All fried entrees are very good. The sides are homemade - all that I have tried have been very good. I prefer the coleslaw that is a little creamy with the exact right amount of vinegar. Potato salad and shrimp salad (nice sized shrimp!) are really good, but I always favor the slaw. The Crab Galley is a hole in the wall restaurant that serves very fresh seafood fast. The quality of everything I've tasted has always been very good and fresh. I find the service to be generally efficient, friendly and direct. My orders were prepared quickly when I have ordered there and they have been ready as promised when I have ordered pickup. The portions are generally large and I have found the prices to be reasonable and competitive. If you have the urge for fresh seafood, especially fried seafood, without the hassle or long waits, I think you will be pleased with a trip or online order from The Crab Galley. Ordered 3 lbs of crab legs and 1/2 lb of steamed shrimps. Loved loved loved the crab legs. I appreciate not getting any skinny crab legs in my order. Called in an order of the seafood sample and trout fish dinner. Went to pick it with no problem. Guess what? The food was pretty good! My friend recommended this place if you want good crabs. Now, I like crabs but don't eat them unless I have a buddy cracking them open pulling the meat out through all the yuck and serving it to me. Found the Crab Gallery on yelp so I figured I'd give it a shot. I got there and was amazed at what all they offer for such a small place. I settled on the Chicken Fingers and seasoned old bay fries. $12 Large Order of Hushpuppies $7 Jumbo Crab Cakes $28 Jumbo Crabs $53 for a half dozen But they were big and meaty Chicken Fingers were pretty good. Not that big a fan of the fries. Loved the hush puppies Wife liked the crab cakes. Big and meaty. Not a lot of bread. Jumbo Crabs were right on point, especially for the price.
