Bang bang shrimp sauce on the side
Lo V.

I love stopping here when I'm i. Amelia Island. Great food, friendly staff and the shrimp is amazing. I got bang bang shrimp with sauce on the side for a quick bite.

We loved it here. They were understaffed, but the one waitress they had was truly impressive. All the food was really good. We had a debate if this was as good as the Salty Pelican and it lost 2-3. It was very close though. The boil and the shrimp and grits were the best.

Blackened grouper

Great food, quick service, great waiter. Enjoyed the guy playing piano. It's a loud atmosphere, but I didn't mind.

Fish & Chips

Crab cakes are delicious. Fish & chips were fantastic. Wine, beer & certain appetizers half off from 3-6. Jody made sure my husband & I were well taken care of. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. Definitely our new spot for Happy Hour.

We had the low country boil and it was good. The shrimp were over cooked but the sausage was great. The crab legs were just okay. I got a baked potato as a side and it was not very good. Our server was excellent. Very accommodating and knew the menu thoroughly to help us order exactly what we wanted. Additionally there was a pianist who played and sang music the whole time we ate. It made for a fun night.

Something wrong here. Supposed to be happy hour between 3 pm and 6 pm. We got the bill and there was no discount on the drink. We were told that we should have mentioned happy hour when we ordered our drinks and food. Huh? After going back and forth with the waiter and the manager, we got cash back. But if you look at these receipts, it's not adding up right. My mule is $0 on the first bill, which is incorrect. They then added $8.00 for my drink and gave us the Angry Orchard as a courtesy. They did take $2 off for the drinks, but wow. Food was good.

"Big One" Mussels

The quality of the seafood here is amazing. The oysters were gigantic, not super salty, and fresh. The mussels were very large, and they sent many out. However, the appetizer coconut curry for the mussels was lacking in flavor and a much thinner consistency than expected. The crab cake sandwich was tasty and packed with crab, but it was rather dry - I expected a bit more sauce and a crispier sweet potato fry. The flounder picatta didn't have the sauce I was expecting. I'm not sure the tomato risotto paired well with the fish. The fish was definitely amazing quality and large, but the risotto seemed like it didn't work with the fish. I felt as though the quality of the seafood was wasted on the flavors they chose to pair with them. Perhaps next time we will try the tower or the crab. They have a different special every night. On Friday, the oysters were $1! The alcohol drinks were pretty good. We had the cruzed and confused. It was not too sweet, very tasty and had the right ratios of alcohol to mixers. The servers were very friendly and came by just the right amount of times. There was also live piano music in the evening. The ambiance was nice and a great more casual dining experience.

shrimp and grits

Dined here the other night as the hurricane was making its way ashore. This happens to be one of the only places in the area that was open. Going off server recommends, I had the shrimp and grits. An interesting take on the dish as they were grit "cakes" and not just a bowl of grits with things added. These cakes were made with Gouda then deep fried so that there was a nice "crust" on them yum! My companions dishes were also good as well. The Ambiance was a nice "pub" feel and they also had live music which made for a nice atmosphere.

Cool atmosphere. Nice location. Upstairs dining was quiet and kid friendly. Low country boil was great! Shrimp and grits were great! Kids chicken strips were hand battered and delicious!

Exceptional Service That Turned a Mishap into a Great Memory…read moreI recently had an issue with a thoughtful gift certificate my son sent me for The Boat House. In a moment of clumsiness, I accidentally deleted the email and thought it was gone for good. I reached out in desperation, and to my surprise, manager Colin personally stepped in. He contacted corporate right away and made sure the gift certificate was resent to me promptly. That kind of care and follow-through is rare these days, and it speaks volumes about the family-oriented, customer-first culture at The Boat House. It made me even more excited for our next visit. Thank you, Colin, and the whole team -- you've gained a loyal customer and turned what could have been a frustrating situation into one that highlights why The Boathouse stands out. Highly recommend!

We had the Bleu Cheese chips which were really good. They are homemade potato chips bathed in a delicious queso and sprinkled with bleu cheese crumbles. A perfect companion to my prosecco. We've also had it before with pork several times, and that doesn't disappoint. On another note, I heard another customer asking our server about some of the other staff. I realize restaurants are on a schedule and expect my food to be at a different level. This was not the case here. It was perfect. It is important to note that we came in at 2:30 in the afternoon and were the only customers in the place. Sometimes this means the food would be leftovers from lunch but everything we ate was very fresh. I had the sliced pork. The slices were a quarter inch thick and to big to eat in 1 bite. The pork was fork tender even at that thickness so I did not need a knife. I would say it was THE BEST restaurant sliced pork I have ever had. I asked about a spicy sauce and was told they have something called Big Poppas that stays in the back and she brought me some. It was a really good spicy sauce but not so overwhelming that you couldn't taste the meat. The fries were just fries but they were hit and crispy. I had baked beans. They had really good flavor and chunks of pork mixed in for an added bonus. This was also fresh and hot. My wife had the brisket plate and said the same about her food. She took home more brisket than she ate. It was huge.

Even with the holiday rush, the staff remained incredibly kind, professional, and attentive throughout the evening. While there was a delay with our meal and a mix-up with our steaks, what truly stood out was how the team handled it. The manager went above and beyond to make things right, and we left feeling taken care of and valued as guests. It's easy to deliver a flawless experience on a slow night... it says much more about a restaurant when you see how they operate under pressure. The hospitality and integrity of the team turned what could have been a frustrating evening into a very positive one. We'll absolutely be back.

Tonight, my sister, my mother, and I were feeling another dinner at Salt Life was due, so we hopped in the car and drove the hour to get there, excited for the meal we were to be consuming soon. We walked in and was greeted by a girl at the register, telling us the host would be with us soon. So, while mom and my sister were checking out the aquarium, I stood there patiently waiting for the host/ess. A gentleman walked in behind me and was immediately greeted by the hostess asking him how many were in his party (he was alone at this point), I turned to the girl at the register and said, "excuse me, she never even acknowledged me". She turned to the hostess and said "they were here waiting". The hostess turned back to her 2 other friends? Work peers? And then led the 3 of us on a tour of the whole dining room area before seating us at a table she could have skipped 45 steps getting to, but whatever. She said "someone will be over to help you". And that was it. The people next to us were getting served, drinks topped off, etc., and the table on the other side as well. (Different waitresses). The table behind us, a party of 6 maybe...getting service. And there we sat. For 10 minutes...nothing. We had put our menus down within 4 minutes of sitting (we come here enough to know what we want) to signal we were ready to order. Nothing. I told my sister this is the payback for speaking up. I told her I'd give them 5 more minutes to at least take a drink order, or we'd be leaving. We waited. Nothing. So we left! How disappointing. We were really looking forward to dinner here, and left with stomachs empty. Now we are on the quest to find the next best place to become regulars at in Fernandina Beach. I can't say anything bad about the food, it's what kept us coming back, but the service we experienced tonight will keep us from coming back. Such a shame!
