It is located right in the heart of historic Amelia island and easy walking distance to stores and other bars. The restaurant didn't just serve their craft beers, but also had a full bar. It was quick seating on a Friday night due to the restaurant's size I believe. The menu had some good options. We really enjoyed the fresh Greek salad and the boiled peanuts are a must (just the right amount of spice)! The fish and chips was pretty run of the mill but still good. We would go back...someone's ceviche looked really good next to us so that's what we said we'd try next time. This restaurant is very stunning. Love the interior! Staff seemed very friendly. While ordering felt like our waitress didn't listen very well and things were forgotten. I got the AIBC burger, yummy but wasn't happy to have a sauce already on it. My kids loved their kids fried shrimp! My husband got the chicken sandwich and asked for no pimento. When we got our order my husbands sandwich had pimento so we got it sent back. Maybe 15 mins go by, had to pull a staff to side about it then it finally came. To our surprise, there was pimento on half of the chicken and the other half looked like it was just scraped off. (Could tell because the breading was missing on the bottom.) A bit frustrating dealing with that. Everyone at the table including friends were done eating and my husband was just sitting waiting for his food. He couldn't truly enjoy his meal- had to rush and eat so we could head home. Shout out to Cage, one of the cooks. He was super intentional and helped us with this situation. I loved the clean industrial like interior where you can see the beer making process going on. There was football on the one big screen TV I really wish there was more than one TV so we could watch more than one game. They only have beer they make But brought us several samples tell us decide the summer Shandy is outstanding. I also had a cocoberry smash a signature drink made with coconut rum and blueberry puree. I am an occasional drinker, but I would be OK having one of these every day they were light and refreshing and delicious. We ordered a bunch of food for the table; giant pretzel with beer cheese , truffle tater tots, pot roast sliders, kielbasa, pierogis and fried mac & cheese. There were no leftovers. The food is a 10! The only thing that was upsetting is they were out of some condiments like sour cream on a football Sunday you would think condiments would be something you would stock up on. This was the the most disappointing visit of have had all year. Starting off with the good, the restaurant had a good vibe and was decorated tastefully as well as clean. The service was also without complaint. The downsides were that we were pressed for time and only went by what YELP showed for a menu on the AIBC Tavern profile page, as well as a Google search. Well they had not updated the menu and everyone was very disappointed that they had removed everything Pastrami from the menu. Now on to the food ordered. The Onion & Ale soup was very very good and very hearty. ITALIAN BEEF HOAGIE SHAVED RIBEYE | GARLIC & HERB CHEESE | OREGANO | GIARDINIERA (straight from their website). Sorry, but if that was shaved ribeye or even beef? I have lived a very sheltered life. Looked and tasted like the meat from a Steak-Umm package. Next, the Garlic & Herb cheese is nothing close to any type of cheese I have experienced on any other Italian beef sandwich. The cheese doesn't even melt? It'll was just small lumps of a cheese that appeared to look like dry cheese dip. As far as Giardiniera, in my opinion it was a way to season the sandwich that was already a disaster. Now onto the Cucumber salad misleading as the menu doesn't offer any explanation and it turned out to be cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and red onion over dressed in thick Italian salad dressing. Everything you love about beer and bar food done well. I love how all the beers are named after legendary women and the beer book describes the beer and the legacy of its namesake. I did a flight (Monroe, Billie, Grace, & Cannary Cross) and every sample is different, complex, and balanced from top to finish. Even if you bring someone who doesn't like beer, they will like something on tap (creamsicle hard seltzer is a crowd pleaser - get a crowler for the beach. You're welcome). The burger special with bacon jam and pimento cheese was lovely, especially the composition! Usually, fancy burger places put the meat on the bottom and stack all the toppings so it looks good but is impossible to actually get a bite with every flavor. Not here! The pimento cheese was on the bottom below the beef, then the patty was topped with the bacon jam and jalapeños, so balanced and flavorful and easy to eat without looking like a cartoon character going in on a club sandwich. I'd go back again right now tbh if they weren't closed on Tuesdays. If you go, get a crowler to take home for next Tuesday when you'll be craving AIBC too. read more

For several years now this was one of my favorite go to places in all of downtown Fernandina Beach. Unfortunately, there has been a recent menu change and it's just not good. I recently had the Reuben and the meat was just dry and tasted strange and the sauerkraut on it was just simply bland with almost no sauce added. My wife had a burger and she said hers was good but my experience most recently was a negative one. I live in the area and many of my neighbors frequent this place as well and have all said the same thing. The beer is still good and the service is still great, but the food has definitely gone downhill. I actually hate giving reviews like this because I want these businesses and restaurants in my area to have great success. It's my hope that with this feedback that they can do some things to improve it. read more

We were in Fernandina for a scavenger hunt on this chilly Sunday and stopped in here to warm up a little and get lunch. It was not very crowded at all yet. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted and given menus. They were out of a couple things which was a little disappointing. My friend got the coffee porter "Laura Joe" beer (tiramisu flavored - the regular coffee porter is one thing they were out of). It didn't have much of a tiramisu flavor, but was still delicious. I had the Canary Cross beer (an Amber Ale) and really liked it! *fun fact - make sure to flip thru the whole drink menu for a history of their names! Lots of girl power in there* For lunch, I just had truffle fries since I had a large breakfast and they were perfectly cooked. A little crispy and seasoned just right. My friend had the chicken salad sandwich which was enormous and had BLT on it as well as an excellent bonus. The chips on the side were crispy and also flavorful. The service was quick! Only minor complaint was that the bartender wasn't the friendliest. Not bad service but not exactly super welcoming either. Not enough to subtract from the experience though. Everyone is allowed an off day. Overall I would certainly go back and try more seasonal flavors. They also have liquor and had a great sounding maple pumpkins beverage that sounded awesome. The food was delicious! I am gluten free and the menu was so much more extensive than I expected! My husband and daughter are not GF and they both loved their entrees as well. Wife and I really enjoyed the Tavern and actually inadvertently ended up here twice over the course of our week in Amelia island. The interior is 'normal brewery' and industrial looking with concrete floors, high ceilings and brick, I like it! I tried their cuban, brussels and a beer flight, they were all very good! The cuban had a ton of flavor, was huge and hit the spot. Since the sandwich was big, sadly I ended up leaving some of the brussels behind. they were amazing. Our waitress Morgan was superior as she gave us the info on the specials and how specific sides were cooked (collard here are sweet) Now for the food- not really sure what has happened here but the food was subpar at best. Truffle fries were delivered warm and soggy. I ordered the AIBC burger with extra caramelized onions, medium well. The burger was also delivered luke warm and although the meat tasted good, expectations are that if you wait in upwards of 45 minutes for your food it should come out hot. Presentation of the meal was lovely but the taste needs to match the presentation. Onion rings were crispy but the coating was bland, but the onions were sweet. Asked to speak with the manager and Cassidy showed up to deliver out check minus the truffle fries. It felt like a drive by to just not address the issues with the food. We said that we wanted to discuss the food, and delays, and were given a lot of excuses for the tardiness (apparently a crowd in the back were before us and causing a backlog of orders. New staff, others before me, and at some point it's just useless discussion and she just basically walked off not wanting to deal with me. Then David Williams general manager visits our table to discuss the food issues. Yes, there are kitchen and service issues, and as customers we will gladly understand the situation and will understand that the food slow to come out.....if you tell us. When the restaurant is not full or near capacity (visit was approximately 4:00 PM) and food takes forever, something is off. Being local residents we visit here often and have tried 90% of the menu and each time it has been amazing. I am taking the rating to 2 stars based on this visit and hope that the next visit will have a better outcome. read more

We arrived to lovely, bustling atmosphere at AIBC. We were greeted at the door promptly and asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor. There was ample seating and appreciated the mix of bar and non bar seats. When handed the menu I noticed a bevy of cocktails and libations and of course, beer. Y chance, I noticed a seasonal assortment off menu on the paper napkin dispenser. I ordered a sour taster but ultimately landed on a session IPA. The beer was good. I ordered a fish and chips which were fried to perfection. The price was a bit steep but hopefully it supports this great local business. Plan your visit to the Tavern. Hubby and I needed a dinner spot on a Saturday night after we biked nearby. We decided to drive to downtown Fernandina Beach and check out The Tavern by AIBC. We started off with beer. Hubby ordered a Canary Cross and I did a flight with Monroe, peach wheat, Irish cream and hazelnut. The Irish cream and hazelnut were part of the Laura Joe coffeehouse series coffee porters. I really liked all 4 beers but the Monroe was my favorite. We enjoyed the AIBC pretzel while sipping our beer. It was soft and so buttery with just the right amount of salt. The beer cheese dip was phenomenal! One of the best pretzels we've ever had. For dinner, hubby ordered the tavern burger with tavern fries and I ordered the gouda short rib sandwich with tavern chips. The tavern burger was really good. We both liked the bacon jam a lot. The short rib on my sandwich was a little dry but had great flavor. The sourdough was very good. I liked both the tavern fries and the tavern chips. Make sure to check out the alley if you are just getting beer! We walked down there and were pleasantly surprised. It's a little hidden gem! A solid spot for beer and elevated pub food. On our 4th day in town, after enjoying several other great restaurants, we visited The Tavern by AIBC. We thoroughly enjoyed the crispy brussel sprouts and boiled peanuts starters. Flight of brewery beers were all great. My wife can't have gluten, so she had a flight of house seltzers and loved all of them. She had a favorite, but still enjoyed all the flavors. Main meals - Haddock fish and chips were perfect. Very crispy, flavorful, and filling! - Ruben sandwich was fresh corned beef, not deli meat, that was cooked perfectly. We never get dessert, but everything else was so good that we had the bread pudding with ice cream. So good! Lastly, our service and the managers were the best. They checked in with us to make sure we had drinks and to ensure everything was to our liking. They definitely care about their customers and we appreciate their dedication to the best service! Loved the multiple drink options for the non beer drinkers including multiple flavors of house seltzers and a full bar. Service was friendly and quick. I wanted the special that they had available but when she went to go put it in they told her that they were out of it. So, we got A shrimp plate and some flatbread. The flatbread was so soft and tasted like pita. That wasn't a good thing to me. I didn't really have taste either. However, the dessert was great they were cinnamon beignets and they were yummy!
