We dined at Bob's Steak & Chop House on Valentine's Day, which is obviously one of the busiest nights of the year. Even with the holiday rush, the staff remained incredibly kind, professional, and attentive throughout the evening. While there was a delay with our meal and a mix-up with our steaks, what truly stood out was how the team handled it. Multiple servers checked in on us, kept us updated, and were genuinely apologetic and gracious. The manager went above and beyond to make things right, and we left feeling taken care of and valued as guests. It's easy to deliver a flawless experience on a slow night... it says much more about a restaurant when you see how they operate under pressure. The hospitality and integrity of the team turned what could have been a frustrating evening into a very positive one. We'll absolutely be back. read more

One of the best steaks I've had. Our server Bri was super sweet and friendly. Explained all the evening specials in depth and constantly came back to check on our table. The menu has a really nice selection of meats and a bunch of toppings and delicious sides to choose from. The steaks were very big sizes with 9 oz filet mignon being the smallest but then there was a special of 2 filet medallions at 3 oz each so I opted for that. I asked for medium rare and it came out just right. Very tender and nicely red in the center. The server did mention many times "our signature carrot" but we didn't realize what she meant till it came out on the plate - the biggest carrot I've ever seen in my life. And mine was a smaller one compared to my table guests. It was sweet, soft and wonderful. The smashed potatoes were smooth, buttery and garlicky. We had a really nice dinner last night at Bob's. It's been a challenge to find good, reasonably-priced steak in Fernandina Beach, but I think we have finally found it. I had the blue-cheese encrusted sirloin, and my husband had the steak au poivre. Mine was melt-in-the mouth tender and super flavorful. WOW, WOW, WOW! What else can I say?! I was spending some time at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island, but the restaurants were really busy there and I didn't feel like waiting. I wanted a good steak and decided to look up what was close by in this place was less than 10 minutes away. I walked in and ordered at the bar for takeout. The staff was super nice and very helpful. I took my meal back to the room and I couldn't have been more pleased with it. The steak was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The potatoes and carrot were divine. AND THE BREAD PUDDING OH. MY. GOD. -- probably the best bread pudding I've ever had and I'm from Louisiana. Sooooooo Good! It was so good I forgot to take a picture of it. OK, here's what I have to say. Number one: I had the Wagyu fillet. It was absolutely phenomenal. I would say it was in the top five steaks I've ever had. Number two: the scallops and bacon dish was by far the best scallop I've ever had. Just for context it's only about a dozen times that I've tried scallops but every time I hated them, but this dish was absolutely delicious. Number three: we made reservations a week in advance and when we got there, they were understaffed and we probably waited at least 30 minutes for our first dish to come out even the drinks took at least 10 minutes to hit the table, so that was a big minus i'm giving this place four stars because of the service. We tried to book a reservation online, but it said it was full until two days later. We took the chance to go anyway and ask, and they had openings because of cancellations, but they have bar seating available. I really wanted the blue cheese salad, but knowing I would never eat that and a meal. My husband convinced me that we could just share a meal and the salad, but he underestimated just how much you were actually getting. They bring you around loaf of bread to start that is very fresh, but don't fall for it... The meal is a better thing to fill up on. Our server, was kind enough to offer to split everything in the back for us , so the picture of the salad is only half of what we actually got. You could tell that they make their own salad dressing; it was absolutely fantastic and that would've been more than enough for me to eat in itself. We chose to go for the added scallops with our steak and they were probably the best scallops I've ever had in my life. I asked for the steak to be less done than I normally would have for purposes of splitting, and my husband likes it less done than me as well as if there is anything left over it wouldn't be good to reheat. I was pretty full anyway, but there wasn't much steak at the temperature I would eat, so I didn't have much. My husband and I both thought it was an amazing cut of steak and practically melted in your mouth. It didn't need any kind of sauce at all. I am not a fan of carrots and thought the giant carrot was strange,. My husband ate his whole carrot, and I just took a bite. It tasted fine, but just not my thing. The potatoes were really delicious. As I mentioned before, she split everything for us, so the picture of the two steaks is one meal split in half. There are many good things about Bob's. First you come for the steak , we had the filets and they were so tender and cooked perfectly. My wife had the sweet potato and it was four times the size of a normal potato. The bread that came with the meal and hot and fresh, nice touch. The server was nice and always around if you needed something. On the downside , I don't know if it's a Florida thing but the air was too cold in the restaurant and the tossed salad had too much dressing on it, which we should have ordered on the side because that is a problem at most restaurants. First visit and was not disappointed at all. Even without a reservation on a Saturday night. We were able to get a seat in the bar and that was much more enjoyable vibe and atmosphere. Our server was spot on and was handling the crowd very well alone. The Australian Rack of lamb was tender enough to almost cut with a fork. I was on a work trip in Dallas and discovered Bob's! It was incredible and I must have spent $1300 in one week on continued visits to the restaurant. A few weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised to hear there is a Bob's in Florida! Nearly 3 hours away from me but worth the drive...or so I thought. I raved about Bob's to a friend of mine and decided to take the drive. NOT like the Dallas location. Really disappointed. Probably won't return unless I am in the close vicinity. SUPER dark restaurant to hide the outdated decor and furniture. Felt like we were in an upscale old folks home. Appetizers: The BREAD IS PHENOMENAL. Fresh, warm bread loaf, served with real butter. We had two loaves. Lol. We split a salad that was GROSSLY overdressed. Overdressed is an understatement...practically inedible. The *special* fried lobster tail bites were delicious but severely overpriced as I later found out when the bill arrived. I'm all for paying market price but, $70 for a few fried lobster bites seemed unnecessary. The lobster bisque was a huge letdown. Lobster bisque is one of my favs and I've had it around the world. This was like a salty, thick, gravy that tasted like tomato paste with a few (nice) pieces of chilled lobster to decorate the top. Entree: We both ordered Salmon. Salmon was perfectly cooked. Garlic mashed potatoes were good, with big chunks of garlic in them. Glazed carrot ... I know a lot of people knock Bob's carrot, it was flavored nicely. We split a mac n cheese side dish, which was good however, it should be labeled "smoked Gouda" mac. Very smokey taste - almost like bacon but, I don't think bacon was present. My daughter and I came here for my birthday and it was perfect! This place is located in a strip of stores and does not look like much from the outside. However, once we entered, the ambiance of an era gone by exudes from this steakhouse. We requested an outside corner table near the fire pits. Our server was welcoming, warm and made us feel like we were eating with old friends. We started with a huge roll of bread and a margarita for me. After plenty of time to review the menu we started with the tomato and mozzarella salad. This dish was heavy on the vinegar dressing and our least favorite. My daughter had the shrimp, baked potato and huge carrot. I had the prime ribeye, baked potato and huge carrot. The rest of our meal was perfect! The service was a little slow, even though the restaurant was pretty empty. The serving sizes were gigantic, nobody was able to finish their plates. This created tons of food waste and allows them to charge high prices for such inedible amounts of food. The meats were not very good either, they all tasted like they had expired or extremely undercooked. The ambiance inside was pretty cheap too, almost like a wannabe expensive restaurant. The prices were very high and because of the good reviews we looked forward to an exceptional meal. Sadly, the food was not exceptional in any way. We ordered the rib eye and a filet. The baked potato was way over cooked. This seems like a simple item but shouldn't be poorly prepared with prices like this. The filet appeared to be Sous vide and then charred. Although I like my steak pink it too was overcooked and dry. My husband's rib eye was definitely not a prime cut, it was overly fatty and again overcooked. We expected a great meal. We got a very fatty steak, not marbled. The $55 ribeye was gristle and fat. I spit out more than half due to this. Took the other as a doggy bag. The lighting inside there is very dark so you're not able to see the fat or even if your steak is done to your liking. Once in my kitchen light I'm sad to say I would not even give it to my dog due to fat. I know fat gives flavor but this steak missed the mark. My husband had the larger filet and said it was just ok. When we arrived at 5:30 the receptionist asked who was Brooke an wished her a Happ Bday.. We sat down and met the waitress placed drink orders and when she returned she dropped her tray and started freaking out and shocked our entire table..She thought she had a caterpillar on her or something...Super strange behavior....Let us know she was a corporate trainer and just stepped down from that position... witch was not in allignment with our experience.. Fast forward the shrimp cocktail was perfect great sized shrimp and perfect heat... Then steak came out we ordered Med Temp...Steak came out cold red center....We sat there for 5 plus min looking for someone to help with taking steak back and cooking to med temp...Never understand at 6:00 when there were 7-8 other guests in place how line cooks can be that far off on temp of steak..In a Steak Hose.......It was closer to RARE than Med.... We got steak back in 3-4 mins(no way enough time to get fro Rare to Med).....and was still not Med....But to worn out to deal with...Server did wait for wife to cut into steak but to hungry to point out it was still undercooked and so dark in place assume server could not see how undercooked steak was at this point... We then looked forward to dessert and my daugther ordered the Brownie desert....And at "9"years old she was so excited all day to wish her mom happy bday.....with candle and sing happy bday.... Nope server brings back desert...No mention of my wife's bday..No candle...Have no idea if even though they ask on reservation for bday and ask at time you check on about Bday...But server had no clue... Maybe to worried about caterpillars.. We are big foodies and love high end steakhouses.. But this experience other than the Shrimp Cocktail was not a great experience... It was our first time here because I wanted a nice restuarant to celebrate my new job as a physician in town. Luckily we were able to make a reservation online a few hours earlier for 8 PM dinner on Friday night. It is located at the Omni Hotel. Ambiance: 3 out of 5 Surprisingly I wasn't blown away by the ambiance considering it was affiliated with one of the fanciest hotel in town. Outdoor seating wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be. There is a lot of greenery and a firepit that wasn't being used. They should put outdoor string lights and have a waterfall or a creek running through with different types of flowers. Service: 4 out of 5 It took a while for our waiter to first come to our table but once he did, he was attentive and came back multiple times to check on us. Food: 4 out of 5 We shared the Cote bone in ribeye 22 oz for $69 that comes with a baked potato and a long slice of carrot. The baked potato is big enough to share amongst 2 people with plenty of toppings set out individually. I did not like the carrot: it was presented in such a clumsy way as a long carrot and had no flavor. Thankfully the steak was deliciously and flavorful. The food was great! The service was also really good. But the best part was the food. We ordered the prime ribeye and it was cooked exactly as asked and was not overseasoned. It was very tender. The sweet potato was cooked perfectly! The shrimp scampi was served over pasta. It was pretty good. I wasn't blown away but was happy with it. I ordered the small filet - well done (I have to for medical issues) and I know that is supposed to ruin a great steak but it was perfect! They wanted to butterfly it but I like a thick steak so they kept it thick for me. The super large carrot drizzled in honey seems to be a house specialty and after having it set in front of you - you will know why! It was so large I couldn't eat it all! My 2 adult daughters split their dinner and were amazed that their sides were not 1/2 of a spilt portion but full sized on each of their plates. With the bread, 1/2 of anything here is more than enough and this restaurant doesn't mind sharing. My daughters also had the Brussel Sprouts and couldn't stop talking about how amazing they were. When I return to the Omni with my husband, this is a "must do" dinner place. So so good with amazing service as an added bonus! read more
