They quoted me $195 but charged $202.78. The men's leather shoes turned out great, no complaints there. The women's shoes were another story, one pair started falling apart after I wore them twice, and the other came unglued before I even had the chance to wear them. To be fair, they were nice about it and offered to fix them, but honestly, I would only bring good leather shoes here. For anything else, you're probably better off just buying new ones. read more

I brought in a Louis Vuitton wallet to have the leather cleaned. They quoted me 7 days because the person in charge said "he wanted to find the time to do the work himself." I went in on day 7 at 1:00pm and it hadn't been done. He pointed out the receipt said pickup after 4:00. He was really trying to convince me that he scheduled out time to work on it Day 7, 2 hours before pickup? He obviously had forgotten about it. When I went back at 4:00, I inspected it. The inside was great. They did well on that. The outside looked like it hadn't been touched. He told me they tried but couldn't get any dirt off. I bought some leather cleaner and went home to try myself. It all instantly came off. He never even tried to do the outside. Overall, the inside was done well, but all other aspects of this transaction were awful. I won't be returning. read more

After looking for a long time at a local show repair, I came across their business on one of my daily walks. I request only shoe repair, but they also repair show, purses, bags, and belts. I took two pair of shoes, one needed heal tips, and the other one needed to fix the ankle straps, and they were capable of doing both. For both shoes, they were reasonably priced, and the service was great, and both shoes were repaired as good as new. All repairs are pre-paid, which was fine with since they accepted both credit/debit cards or cash. I recommend this business, and I rate them 5 stars all day long. read more

I had them remove some old leather straps from my canvas Filson briefcase. I was lead to believe he was going to use some leather from his stock of leather on a shelf that we looked at . Ended up he installed a pre made leather cheap straps . He charged me $ 100.00 !! He said thats it, if they fail he will replace them. I was able to buy my on leather and will make it better. I dropped off several pairs of shoes and was told to come by at Friday at 5PM to pick them up (my receipt said after 4PM on Friday) with Friday's hours listed as open until 6PM. I explained I really needed one of the pairs of shoes for an event on Saturday. I showed up at 4:30, 30 minutes before I was told to arrive, and an hour and a half before the shop was scheduled to close according to both my receipt and the website. The shop was closed. The shop's website lists working hours on Friday from 9AM-6PM. There is a sign up stating the shop will be closed on Saturday but nothing about an early closing on Friday. I suppose this is a warning to all - the craft shoe shop does not abide by their scheduled hours. I understand that issues arise but I needed those shoes, I explained the need, and I arrived exactly when I was supposed to arrive and well within working hours. There was no communication about an early closing, not even a notice put up. I also live 30 minutes away and had come here due to the favorable reviews. In my opinion this is terrible customer service and unannounced early closings make this cobbler unreliable. Now I need to go out and purchase a new pair of shoes as they are also apparently closed Saturday. I most certainly will not be back. read more

Let me preface this by saying I've restored and customized shoes as a hobby (& have been paid for my services) for the past 3 years. I was being lazy and decided to take two pair of my own shoes to this local business for a sole re-glue which based on my previous experience is quick & easy. It was Friday I was told they'd be ready the following Friday. When I dropped them off I had very high hopes based on their enthusiasm to get the job done and the staff was nice, very welcoming, & friendly. 10 days after dropping off my items I had to call them to check the status of my shoes which I was then told they'd be ready by 4 the next day (Day 11). I arrived at 3:55, they weren't ready & I had to wait an additional 20 mins because they clearly didn't plan on doing my shoes that day. I only left with one pair of shoes because only one shoe from the other pair was done. I now have to go back on Day 12 or maybe later so I can get one left shoes. Looking at my shoes I could tell they were rushed, you can SEE the glue & the sole alignment is off. This experience taught me not to be lazy because I could've did it in less than 6 hours, better quality job, and for $90 less. I hated leaving this review, I hope I was an anomaly. Customer Service is awful. No matter how good they can repair the shoes, never using the company that don't know how to treat the customers. Turn around time for replacing heels is a week, unless you pay ten dollars more. I get they are the only repair store in the area, and they are not bothered if they lose a customer, but you never know how life can turn around, you might be begging for customers one day. read more

I'd never used a cobbler's services before, but I had a few shoes that needed desperate repair and I've been trying to be more conscious about my consumption, so I decided to get them fixed instead of replacing them with new items. To test out out The Craft Shoe Shop, I brought a pair of boots and a single high heel that had an unglued side strap. To replace the outer heel cover of my boot, replace the heel cap, and re-finish the leather cost $55. It cost $15 fix my unglued high heel, which involved taking the entire bottom off and re-gluing the shoe back together. It all took about a week, and I was very happy with how my shoes turned out. I will definitely be back with the rest of my footwear that need some loving care! read more

Really disappointed and won't be bringing anything back here. Brought in the shoes that I wore at my wedding because the soles were starting to wear a bit and I wanted to preserve them. They are now, sadly, in worse shape than when I brought them in. While there are new soles that look fine, the inside lining was all cracked and falling apart when I picked them up. Instead of just apologizing and acknowledging that obviously whatever process they used to resole them put too much pressure on the inside, they tried to say the shoes were already like that when I brought them in. This is completely untrue. They finally changed the story to say that this is normal and expected because the shoes are old and dry. I guess that could be true in theory, but they never cracked before by just wearing them - so if what they were trying to say was that this is a normal thing that happens when you try to repair older shoes, why not mention that when I dropped them off? If I knew there was a chance they could have gotten even more messed up, I would have thanked them for letting me know and said it's not worth it. The only the reason I brought the shoes in was *keep* them in already good shape because they are important to me, which I said when I dropped them off. If they couldn't have anticipated the insides cracking in the process of resoling (although I question that given the "this is normal" explanation), that's understandable. I'd still be disappointed that my shoes got messed up, but I wouldn't be upset with them. But...at the very least apologize and acknowledge it happened. Instead they chose to say nothing and wait for me to notice, then try hard to convince me they were already like that(?!). That's really not right. read more

I am just now reviewing Craft Shoe shop although I have been here many times for projects as diverse as shoe repair, luggage repair, and even a rescue of my favorite RennFest boots! In summary, these are craftsmen who know what they're doing and provide excellent service while still being willing to tell the customer that their chosen path forward is just not the way to go and why. I value their advice as much as the repairs. This shop is not cheap but is worth every penny. Finally I like supporting a friendly small business that puts quality but not extravagance first. Nothing upsets me more than when I spend a lot of money on a nice pair of shoes and it gets scuffed, a seam rips, or the sole wears down. With that said, I am very glad this shop is close by! I've had a few pairs of (both male and female shoes) shoes fixed here, each with very different issues. Upon showing up at the store, I was quickly greeted by staff. The prices for each repair seemed reasonable and they even quickly provided an estimated completion time. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was when I came to pick up a few pair of shoes on their designated completion date, not all of the shoes were complete so I had to return again the next day. Other than that, the work they performed was great! All the repaired shoes are holding up very well! This is definitely my go-to cobbler. read more

Took me two years to discover this shop on yelp & it was worth the wait. Have a pair of leather DKNY boots that had salt & water damage. No home DIY fix worked and I really wanted to wear them again (if possible). Also had a mysterious bag tear that I knew could get patched up but I didn't know who could do it. I dropped off the items on a Saturday morning: one bag, the DKNY boot, and a pair of flats that I brought along because it as worn & I wanted to see what could be done to improve it. He told me everything would be ready in a week so I could come back on the next Saturday with my ticket. I returned this last Saturday he did everything he said he would, I am definitely impressed & will recommend & return to him for additional work. It was a trek for me since I'm in Silver Spring but totally worth it. read more

I visited this store a few times before for boots stretching and had a good experience and even told my friends that we have a nice shoe repair store around. Unfortunately my latest experience is terrible. On March 4th I ordered sole and heels protection and stretching for my brand new boots. I paid $15 for stretching and $85 for sole and heels protection. It was quite expensive price and I expected the best service for this price. I was asked to come in 2 weeks to pick up my boots. On March 18th i entered the store to find out that they are busy and nothing was done. They said 2-3 more days. I came back on March 24th. I got my boots and found out that only sole protection was done. Heels weren't touched. On my question "how come" the owner said "we have never discussed heels protection, only sole protection". He also said that I would have to pay $25 more for heels protection. I asked him to show me a regular price list. He refused and said he does not have one, and price is negotiable and unique for each customer. So, I was scammed in the middle of Kentlands, very nice wealthy area. I'm not even sure how it is possible in US to do "small" business this way. I do not recommend this store. Stay away. I am disputing my bank charge for half as I only received 50% of service I ordered. read more

He restricted the leather, re riveted and replaced the main buckle. The best part is I had an event just a week shy of the belt needing repairs and Tony (and his guys) came to the rescue.
