I spent most of the previous day cycling East from amazing Quemada on US60, so a refreshing/regenerating overnight was essential. Obviously, I needed an equally refreshing/energizing start and this cafe--now named "Evetts" (formerly Espresso)--was the absolutely the BEST place to start! Besides unique/fresh/nutritious meals, I was almost shocked and delighted to learn that affogato was available. When biketouring/travelling, this is one of the greatest morning treats I've ever had--not only plenty of needed caffeine, and (¡probably unneeded!) sugar. I enjoyed other filling dishes before continuing my Eastern direction on US60 to SocorroNM. I didn't cycle away immediately--Magdalena is such an attractive/"unknown/undiscovered" community in which the history lives on with the structures restored/repurposed! The abandoned tracks have a great roadbed waiting for more full development/hiking-biking trail for use by locals and long-distance enthusiasts alike. ¡This is such a tremendous community, and I look forward to returning--I'll plan to stay at least TWO nights for a full experience! It definitely has my coveted "iWheel of Approval!" ¡Highly recommended'

The staff was very nice. I tried newed things that I haven't had before. I got the tamales at the recommendation of the girl. I thought they were good. It came with rice and beans. I also got a sopapilla, which is a fried pastry. You can get them stuffed for a meal, which was the other thing I was considering. Since she recommended the tamales though I got the regular one which is sweet kind of like a dessert and came with honey. It was very good. Prices were great. All and all, I enjoyed it very much and would recommend a stop in. I would come back again.

Nevertheless their varietals are outstanding b/c they have so many different kinds--each with its own distinctive flavor. They also carry lip balm, loose tea, and candles. I ordered recently about 5 honeys. They shipped it so fast it arrived in only 3 days from NM in perfect condition with sufficient packing...and they ship to P.O. boxes with no breakage. Folks, it does not get any better than THIS PLACE if you want excellent raw honey!

Cutest little café!…read more We stopped at Kokopelli's Café on a road trip through Truth or Consequences, and I'm SO glad we did. The space is adorable--clean, cozy, and filled with Southwest charm. You can tell right away that a lot of love went into creating it. The food was incredible--I had the American and a giant cinnamon roll that tasted like they came straight out of a home kitchen (in the best way). The latte was one of the best I've had on the road--smooth, flavorful, and made just right. They also had Lotus energy drinks and other unique options for non-coffee drinkers. Service was top-notch. The woman working the counter was so kind and welcoming. You could tell she genuinely cared about every guest's experience, and it really made the visit feel personal. Whether you're camping nearby, headed to Elephant Butte Lake, or just passing through, this place is 100% worth the stop. I'll be back next time I'm in New Mexico!

What a find! We were staying in Socorro for a work trip, and we ventured out to Box Canyon on our…read morelast day as they had been closed most days we were there. It was a chilly night so there weren't a ton of people out and about, but the ambiance of Box Canyon was warm and welcoming and just what I was looking for. They had a diverse list of beers for such a small brewery, and wasn't able to choose just one. I did a flight instead (they also have smaller pours if you just want to sample one or two). We chatted with David, who I believe is the owner, and he was so knowledgeable and willing to share all about the brewing operation. It was fun to learn how he made each beer, and they were really good. I don't usually like an IPA, but I even liked the IPA! Multiple of us commented on how good the red ale was, and it was unique in that it looked kinda like a stout. The panini menu is also lovely, and it's nice to find something different from the other restaurants in Socorro. I would definitely recommend checking this place out before a lot of the others.
